Other videos show a new type of glass. Look up portal 2 videos on youtube and you'll see it.
Valve didn't make the maps.
Hopefully if you purchase the Razor Sixense separate from the normal Portal 2, you can get a key to unlock the special Portal 2 exclusives as a form of DLC.
Looks cool. I've always wanted something like a nunchuk for my left hand, only, for analog movement. I think it would be awesome to have a left stick for movement and a mouse for aiming, personally.
I've used it myself couple times, it's surprisingly comfortable and easy to use.
Looks neat
Is the prop resizing only possible in the new engine?
and now we wait for the resizing code to be put in gmod
Razer is awesome, as always.
Holy crap, proper resizing in Source? This better get used in GMod!
It's already possible, but it isn't predicted clientside, so it's really laggy.
I see that you can hold two motion controllers, I think it'd be quite cool to have two portal guns, one for orange, one for blue, which you dual-wield, and aim with their respective motion controller, that you can fire simultaneously.
That reminds me about garry asking what to update Garry's mod with in 2011
There's your answer, more engine updates :v:
I imagine it will suck with L4D2. Portal is a slower paced, physics manipulation puzzle game, so it's a nice fit. A faster paced action game, like L4D2, doesn't seem like it would work very well.
Its like a wii but without nintendo64 graphics.
They are trying to mix the PC Gaming Master race with the Dirty Console Gamer Peasants!
Custom content, not a whole separate mod. And it's most likely just a convar.
this is quite nice but im still annoyed at the fact that valve still use the shitty glass breaking from like 5 years ago.
Nope, it's actually just Razer using it. Valve use this glass:
Pretty sure that the map Razer are using was made way before portal 2 surface, which is why they're using the older func_breakable_surf glass. It's a good thing, because it means maps are easily backwards compatible if that's the case.

Garry said he'd port to Portal 2 version of the engine anyways.
Who cares really... It's something new that isn't very expensive and can be a lot of fun. If you do want to buy it because your not into the motion controller fad then don't buy it.. simple as that. You'll still have the full game.
Well my biggest gripe with this is the price. Or it would be, but if RPS is correct a Portal 2 bundle + motion controllers for less than $100 is great. I'll definitely pick this up because it looks hella fun.
[editline]9th January 2011[/editline]
And the fact that it looks precise enough to be really solid in other games too is also another plus.

Portal 2 isn't included, it only says that it will be released the same day as portal2 and will cost less than 100$

they are most likely going to be bundled together.
Looks like something else I won't buy!
Portal 2 isn't included, it only says that it will be released the same day as portal2 and will cost less than 100$
You're right. I read this:
The device will apparently be bundled with a special version of Portal 2 which will specifically support the Razer.
And later read this:
The device should, it seems, be released around April, the same time as Portal 2, for less than $100.
and assumed they were related. Well as long as the controller is in the 60-70 range I'd be glad to pick it up. The problem is when estimates usually say less than $100, the thing is going to sell for $99. I'm going to have a hard time justifying a $150 purchase to get the full experience. Still, if it turns out to be good I'll probably pick it up. Seeing as it runs on Portal 2's version of source I imagine Valve will expand this and provide engine updates to their other games.
I suppose I'll have to wait until April to see.
sounds abit lame.
Wii 2.0, I'm more surprised to see how durable it is. I've heard so many bad things about Razors quality.
The maps will be ported from the exclusive version to the regular version in under a week I bet.
More in 3 minutes. All you have to do is most likely copy and paste the .bsp files, and the associated sound files, models, and textures if necessary.
The guy in the video said it'll work with L4D2. I may pick this up if it's good with L4D2.
Also, I bet the "special version" that comes with the Hydra is probably gonna be some shitty version that only includes the hydra levels.
Portal 2 + Motion Controls + 3D = VomiCon 2011

The first time they showed these nunchucks was actually on l4d2, I remember seeing them half a year ago or something. Or where those Logitech?
I'll wait and see if Garry picks up the technology. If he implements it into Garry's Mod it's a total buy for me, the scaling and stuff is badass.
I got to play this for about five minutes, it seemed confusing at first but I got the hang of it and it was an awesome experience. I totally recommend the Hydra, especially if they're going for a price tag below $100, it'll be supported by tons of games, the guy who developed the concept of the Hydra told me that 2D Boy(World of Goo devs) ported it into their game in under twenty minutes. That is awesome.

Garry has the SDK for the Hydra. It's his decision however whether he uses it or not
Source: Guys at the CES booth?
I am so getting this. Pre-order, even.
I decided to buy a Novint Falcon, and although it's really cool, I honestly don't use it much. There are many reasons I play PC games, but one of them is certainly because the interface is easy to use and doesn't require a lot of fiddling around with motion controllers. That's not to say that this doesn't look like it would be fun, but it looks like something that's not worth the time or money.
[editline]9th January 2011[/editline]
^Wow I meant to kinda tie that in with the Razer Hydra.
Basically I think that the Hydra will end up like the falcon.
