Keep in mind that this is reported crime. I would like a source on this data though. [editline]12:50PM[/editline] His fault, let people make mistakes and take the subsequent consequences.
his fault? have you ever been drunk?
his fault? have you ever been drunk?
You're not forced to be drunk you know. It's YOUR choice that you chose to drink so much alcohol.
In the US you apparently forfeit your human rights if you're an intruder, or have I misunderstood? There must surely be some tragic mistakes made, for example what if a drunk person tries to get into a house that's near to his and looks similar because he's too drunk to tell the difference?
To be honest you have to get really really really really (i'm talking 1950's rural kentucky) drunk to not be able to tell the difference between your house and another. how'd he get there anyways? it's not like he was able to drive back alone unless he's within walking distance to a pub. and if he got shot when he wasn't actually in the house the shooter would be punished i believe. not to mention i don't think a homeowner is going to shoot when he first sees the guy without making a verbal warning.
also, yeah really, that map keeps saying Iceland is the most dangerous place in the world for all you know, most of those crimes could be fucking vandalism or some shit. Does that make Iceland... I don't fucking get it, how is Columbia and south Africa with 10 times HIGHER murder rates then the US and UK combined is LESS dangerous then fucking Iceland. I've been to fucking Iceland, it's nothing but green pastors and old people in thick sweaters.
his fault? have you ever been drunk?
Don't go downing god knows how many drinks if you can't find your way into your own house afterwards
You're not forced to be drunk you know. It's YOUR choice that you chose to drink so much alcohol.
so that's your logic? we shouldn't protect citisens? if they have problems, then oh well? ffs, zombie, people get drunk all the time. Does that mean you forfeit your rights?
By the way, you CAN shoot to wound...
so that's your logic? we shouldn't protect citisens? if they have problems, then oh well? ffs, zombie, people get drunk all the time. Does that mean you forfeit your rights?
Your risk.
To be honest you have to get really really really really (i'm talking 1950's rural kentucky) drunk to not be able to tell the difference between your house and another.
Actually, it happens quite a bit.
how'd he get there anyways? it's not like he was able to drive back alone unless he's within walking distance to a pub.
People have legs btw
and if he got shot when he wasn't actually in the house the shooter would be punished i believe. not to mention i don't think a homeowner is going to shoot when he first sees the guy without making a verbal warning.
we're talking about someone IN the house. uh... have you fucking READ some of the posts in this thread? [editline]08:58PM[/editline] have you met mikhail?
Actually, it happens quite a bit. People have legs btw we're talking about someone IN the house. uh... have you fucking READ some of the posts in this thread?
not really no because i've never seen or heard of it happen. if a person is too drunk to remember what his own house looks like how is he able to walk a few miles without falling on his face. and in vnl's situation she said "someone is trying to get in" aka not in the house yet. have YOU read what people are posting.
I understand the motivations, but I just hate the paranoia everyone has. It it is just like the South Park history of the USA.
I would have to leave the shooting to my girlfriend, I'm a pacifist.
You've never seen it so it doesn't happen uhhh Have you ever been drunk before? Yeah, i have, most of it is people saying "if i see someone in my house, I'm fucking shooting them"
You've never seen it so it doesn't happen uhhh Have you ever been drunk before? Yeah, i have, most of it is people saying "if i see someone in my house, I'm fucking shooting them"
few times, and i live right next to boston so i see quite a bit of drunk people. teenager opinion on an internet forum = all armed US homeowners. ok
you don't need to get super drunk to fucking mistake property. No, but it shows where these people lie
ffs, zombie, people get drunk all the time. Does that mean you forfeit your rights?
That a very large leap. When you're drunk, you're still going to be held responsible for your actions, seeing as you just used your right to drink. But, your freedoms end when you try to force your way into another person's house. This is coming from a green party member.
you don't need to get super drunk to fucking mistake property. No, but it shows where these people lie
If you decide to get drunk, and end up in someone else's house, it's your fault. Don't sugar coat it and make it sound like the drunk guy is the innocent one.
So basically if I get drunk its cool that I get gunned down for making a simple mistake? Once more the law of the land will have sanctioned this murder?
So basically if I get drunk its cool that I get gunned down for making a simple mistake? Once more the law of the land will have sanctioned this murder?
You get gunned down when you enter his/her home. Your fault for entering.
So basically if I get drunk its cool that I get gunned down for making a simple mistake? Once more the law of the land will have sanctioned this murder?
Hmm, if he was just lost, I assume he tried to use his keys - you know the thing that opens the door it belongs to - but, they obviously wouldn't work. So, he started trying to break in. Oh, darn, the front door would bust, he'll just try the back door. Now, you're a teenager, someone is trying to break into the home of you and your little brother, what do you do?
You get gunned down when you enter his/her home. Your fault for entering.
but you're fucking drunk and don't know better
but you're fucking drunk and don't know better
Well that's sure unfortunate
but you're fucking drunk and don't know better
Your fault for drinking so much.
In some countries, the kid would be a criminal sentenced to life for assaulting a civilian. Just to show how fucked up some things can be. He did well, and hopefully no one will annoy him with charges
but you're fucking drunk and don't know better
You see, the thing is. He still scared the crap out of a minor by trying to break into his home, as it happens, the minor had a gun.
Your fault for drinking so much.
This logic is dumb, no one deserves to be shot for breaking into a home, but when breaking into a home you have to realize they're not going to heat up a warm reception and give you some cookies while unplugging all their electronics to make hauling them away a lot easier.
Well that's sure unfortunate
so i get drunk... my rights are forfeit simply because i chose to get drunk ok nice to see you involved with the twenty first century. [editline]09:44PM[/editline]
In some countries, the kid would be a criminal sentenced to life for assaulting a civilian. Just to show how fucked up some things can be. He did well, and hopefully no one will annoy him with charges
what mystical country?
In the US you apparently forfeit your human rights if you're an intruder, or have I misunderstood? There must surely be some tragic mistakes made, for example what if a drunk person tries to get into a house that's near to his and looks similar because he's too drunk to tell the difference?
From a legal standpoint, being drunk isn't an excuse. From a human standpoint, drunkards are why warnings are issued (or rather one of the reasons) before you shoot someone in your home. If they are obviously drunk then they likely aren't a threat to anything but your carpet and perhaps the wall of your bathroom.
Your fault for drinking so much.
again, so i have no rights while I'm drunk simply because i got drunk myself?
so i get drunk... my rights are forfeit simply because i chose to get drunk ok nice to see you involved with the twenty first century.
I never said/implied that
