Oh, gosh, you're right! I've always been a 1740s kid at heart.
Only 1710's kids remember Blackbeard.
Wish I could enjoy Pink Floyd, but this kid I knew was probably the dumbest person I've ever met and he was super into them and talked about them all the time. So when ever I hear Pink Floyd, all I think about is this stupid fucking kid. Like to give you an idea about how stupid he was, he spent 2 years stalking me on the internet to "troll" me. By troll I mean he'd just call me a faggot and then bitch at me for my phone number so he can "tell /b/ about my faggotry". He was also one of those "all music today is shit forever, 80s is the best ever" people, even though he was probably born in like 97. So yeah, Pink Floyd makes me think of this shithead. Sucks man.
sucks that you let that get to you so much
A while ago David Gilmour mentioned a new solo album, did is basically evolve into this?
The news article mentions that the solo effort is apparently still coming, but that this 'reunion' might delay it's release.
Last fall, it was revealed that Gilmour was working on a new solo album, his first since 2006. At the moment, it’s also unclear how plans for the new Pink Floyd album will impact this release.

The news article mentions that the solo effort is apparently still coming, but that this 'reunion' might delay it's release.
Wow, three Pink Floyd related albums to look forward to. A Gilmour/Mason Pink Floyd duo, A Gilmour album and a Waters album.
I am excited. Nah. It's an example of how Roger can write really good and moving prose if he really tries, but as a band album it was horribly mismanaged. If it was released as a solo work, it would've been far more appreciated.
Technically it was a solo album, it was credited as 'by Roger Waters' with backing by 'Pink Floyd' which was the final straw that led them to kick him out so you could see it as his first solo album

Misconception. That was the way the band perceived it, but that's not how it actually is. Waters is credited as writing and composing every song because he did write and compose every song on TFC, barring Gilmour's solos.
Gilmour is trash at song-writing, and Roger is too burnt-out and half-insane (which doesn't even matter, since he's not involved) Probably shit, I'll pass.
Gilmour is trash at song-writing, and Roger is too burnt-out and half-insane (which doesn't even matter, since he's not involved) Probably shit, I'll pass.
"On an Island" is great, what are you smoking.

He may not be the best with words but the man is still a musical genius. Also never talk about Roger like than again, or we'll ground you.

I'm gonna need a Big Spliff for the album release. (Before people freak out, The Big Spliff was the original name for the album.)
Sorry, should have clarified. Gilmour's an incredible guitarist but his lyrics are ok at best and cringe-worthy and forced at worst. I might be late, but just wanted to clarify. I'm not saying Gilmour has no musical chops, just no lyrical ones.
The phrase "tongue tied and twisted" may actually be the phrase "Turn, Time, and Twist It" or at least is a clear pun on this phrase, which is an instrument pilot's mnemonic used in a holding pattern, a maneuver which instrument rated pilots must demonstrate proficiency.
http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=3469 Gilmour is a goddamn genius
So they're finally releasing The Big Spliff under a different name? Shut up and take my money!

Roger isn't burned out or washed up whatsoever, considering his age he has incredible vitality. Most people here are under 30, and I bet they'd struggle to do a world-wide tour on the same scale he does.
I don't know man, he's pretty washed up
Maybe in terms of integrity, but his success and vitality are all still there. For someone in his seventies I'd say he's doing damn fucking good.
