they look like a bunch of muppets
yeah you're right lets put 16 year olds in prison for 74 years that will solve so much
First people are complaining about the death sentence, now people complain about murderers going to jail?

It isn't about putting them in jail, but how long they'll be in jail. What makes you think that after sitting in there however many years it will be that they'll be any less likely to commit crime?
They have complete control of their actions when they're 16 years old. There are exceptions to being a minor and receiving the punishment of an adult. They should receive punishment to the fullest extent of the law.
not really.... age 14-18 is kinda when youths are their most impressionable and open to shit like peer pressure which gets them into these gangs which gets them into these situations.

where did i say that? i was just pointing out that putting a 16 year old in prison for 74 years would be stupid and wouldn't solve ANYTHING. why is it that people like you always assume that it's either GIVE THEM THE HARSHEST PUNISHMENT OR SET THEM FREE!!!!

Not make them feel bad about what they did. What you're thinking of is rehabilitation.

wait so, we don't make them feel bad about what they did, then once their sentence is up we release them back into society without having learned a thing???

ah ok i realize where you're coming from now.
But what if they just like stabbing people?
Prison should be about rehabilitation.
This falls down to opinion. Depending on who you ask, it should be about rehabilitation, removal, retribution, or punishment. Fact is, there isn't a correct answer. Its all simply opinion.
Must.resist.racist.comment..
sigh, me being black, i was really hoping they weren't all black smh, that's downright shameful and a disgrace that doesn't help our already tarnished image. they deserve that sentence.

no there is a correct answer: rehabilitation. looking at it any other way is either immoral or just idiotic because rehab is the only way that actually solves problems.

black people committing crimes doesn't cause people to be racist. Black people committing crimes is used as an excuse by people who are already racist and want justify their racism
black people committing crimes doesn't cause people to be racist. Black people committing crimes is used as an excuse by people who are already racist and want justify their racism
Bingo.
If this is black people does, then i'd be proud for being racist.

What makes it the correct answer? What makes it better than the others?

Because in prison systems where it's been employed, recidivism rates are far lower than in other systems.

What's the one common demoninator here?
What's the one common demoninator here?
Racism?
God forbid someone points out criminals are black, or else they must be a racist.
What's worse, the person going "Look, all the criminals in this case are black" or the people going "You fucking racist why'd you point that out?"
I guarantee if, in a different scenario, "Look, all the criminals are white" the amount of people crying racism would be significantly less.
If you aren't offended by it, don't fucking point out racism. If you don't have to, don't mention the color of someone's skin.
its only racist because hteyre black
Racism?
Yes, they're very racist but that's not what I was talking about.
God forbid someone points out criminals are black, or else they must be a racist.
When it doesn't need to be stated, then yes, there is a problem.
What's worse, the person going "Look, all the criminals in this case are black" or the people going "You fucking racist why'd you point that out?"
The person who feels the need to point out the race of the perpetrators when it has no purpose in the discussion.
I guarantee if, in a different scenario, "Look, all the criminals are white" the amount of people crying racism would be significantly less.
Yes, because the racists wouldn't be coming out going "Look at all them whites! They are always committing crimes!"

The racist apologists in this thread are hysterical.

The question of "Why do you feel the need to point it out?" is a good one. It's not political correctness, it's a legitimate concern.

There's also some comparison figures from the US to give you an idea of how different it is.

It compared two distinctly different countries based on general crime statistics and had a focus largely on drug decriminalization. Norway and the U.S. also have astonishingly different cultures.

So what, you can't compare prison's methods if they're in different countries?
