They have more features than a regular watch so I don't see how you could think that.

Not everything needs more features. It's a watch. You put it on your wrist and it tells time. There's no need for all these bells and whistles that just add up to a higher price and more things going wrong.

It isn't a watch. It's a smartwatch.
This, exactly. Could someone please explain the appeal of smartwatches?
they're cool and entertaining to some people.
not everything has to appeal to you specifically to exist.

then don't buy one
When you are outside on the sun how visible are the numbers/text on the screen ?
pebble is what a smart watch should be, its not got wifi, no 4G, but it does have blutooth and the app/watch combo works flawlessly and it can tell time! which the samsung huge-thing doesn't do

It has a auto-adjusting brightness sensor i think.
also, its like -5 outside and the display works fine
I got a pebble for christmas.
It was pretty stupid and the novelty wore off almost immediately by how disappointing it was.
I mean it really offered nothing, an expensive nothing at that. It's just a VERY SLIGHTLY MORE convenient way to access a few aspects of your phone. Like it saves you a few seconds at best.
Then again i'm already a watch guy and i had to give up my other watches in order to wear this one which was not worth the trade off.
Maybe if i had a galaxy gear watch, which seems more like an actual full on smart watch it'd be different. But considering this nicer version of the pebble is 250, for an extra 50 bucks i could just buy the Galaxy Gear watch (granted you need a samsung device too)

The Samsung smartwatch doesn't tell time or have blutooth?

I don't really care for speculating or whatever, but to me, smartwatches are feeling like the fad for 2014; another thing people think they need in their lives. A lot of my friends are gawking at them thinking they've never existed until now with what Samsung came out with, but I haven't seen anything that special about them. Though if people want them, that's fine with me because it's their money. A smartphone and my iPod is all I need, rather than adding on more expensive devices to have on my person.
If I need a watch I'll just buy a watch. It's just a timekeeper for convenience sake.
If I need to play apps or check shit out I'll just pull out my 920. Just as everything-proof as a Pebble and much more functionality.
I wear a watch only formally to a suit or other elegant clothing. At this point it's closer to jewelry or an elegant accessory really. I only have this one, rather nice watch though, no casual one.
My pebble changed the way i interact with my smartphone, i glance at my watch way more often than actually pulling my phone out. For 150 dollars, its a pretty decent watch with cool features, typically my battery life is around 7-8 days, the feature i use most is the media controller.

Also, black is the way to go. I've seen the red and grey ones in person, and it's better just to stick with the black imho.

Also, one last thing, I find my watch only takes less than two hours to charge.
I was supposed to get one of the original ones, my ex put a pledge on kickstarter for 2, one for my birthday. A year later, we found out it had launched, but we didn't get ours. Emailed them, and all they said was "Well, guess you'll have to order another 2". Contacted the bank, turns out a year is too long to dispute a transaction (with the exception of major fraud)
If anyone is interested in some cool watches

What? No. Tokyoflash watches are way overpriced. They make such incredible markup on those, you wouldn't fucking believe.
I'm going to wait until newer model smartwatches come out.

Nevermind I'm stupid you're right hahah Tokyoflash you're paying for the WOW factor..

It can't be any worse than from my experience with the pebble.
It was literally just a waste of money in every way in my opinion. It just straight up isn't worth the cost for what it offers.
wearable electronics are stupid and pretentious.
It's a watch dude. a watch.
The internet killed the word pretentious long ago
seriously that's not even the proper application of it where the fuck did you learn english

Wow these look stupid. They strike me as something a neckbeard would wear to look cool, or something you'd see the geeky kid in a tv show wear because they think it gives them character.

Exactly, it isn't a watch.
i'm not expert, but this is a pretty sweet watch

i got it for like 15 dollars 4 years ago and it still works perfectly. i have pretty small arms so it fits me perfectly and it doesn't really stand out too much, which is why i like it.

What if you just like them and don't particularly care if it makes people add a neckbeard to your appearance?
Personally, I buy watches because I think they're cool, not to show off.
I could totally see myself wearing one of these, and I don't wear a fedora http://www.tokyoflash.com/en/watches/kisai/seven/
Personally, I think it looks simple and cool. You don't, fine but if you write people off based on the watch they wear you're quite the idiot.
One of my friends carries a pocket watch around with her. It's pointless since it takes exactly the same effort as taking her phone out of her pocket but hey, she likes it, who am I to tell her she should start wearing a fedora and trench coat combo?
