Reddits got it's fair share of good, quality boards to read. e.g. chemistry and the science boards Not to say it's not mostly shit, but it's bound to be like that given the poorly regulated content and user-submitted content. Facepunch isn't always much better, fast threads has historically been almost as shitty. If you've got decent moderators and a decent population of users who actually know shit you can have some pretty good content. Another thing that some people don't realize is that subreddits are created by ANYBODY. While I certainly think that /r/jailbait shouldn't have existed in the first place, it's very hard to monitor

Reddit is a big site, so the most popular subreddits are going to have their clowns. If though you go out of your way to find good subreddits such as /r/truereddit, you will have a good experience. Furtheremore, the people who did were from ShitRedditSays, which is pretty much the worst subreddit. I cannot stress that enough; they have a real "You're with us, or you're against us" mentality, will shoot down anyone who wants an intelligent discussion, and get annoyed by anyone who makes a rape joke (TRIGGER WARNING).
