• "Human rights" urged for whales and dolphins

I didn't spend millions of years evolving to become the dominant species only to not kill innocent animals for fun when I got there
Well they are surrounded by water, why don't they just diver underwater? They need to think outside the box if they are so smart.
They don't have gills, jackass. they need to come up for air at some point.
They don't have gills, jackass. they need to come up for air at some point.
They can go underwater for a bit then come back up away from the boat jackass.
I demand human rights for cows and pigs, they want a happy life too
Ok then, why DO they deserve the rights? And it does go both ways. (ok, your mentally retarded with 50% cognitive capacity, you don't get human rights, instead you get elevated animal rights)
if you're mentally retarded, you don't get full human rights because you can be an extreme danger to EVERYBODY around you if you're allowed to own a gun or drive a car.
Smashing your face against a 5 inch thick metal hull is not an applicable form of defense.
You got me there. But if they were so intelligent, wouldn't they try to AVOID hitting that, and learning from their mistakes?
Because they're missing thumbs, duh
I guess I shouldn't patent any ideas on guns for whales.
if you're mentally retarded, you don't get full human rights because you can be an extreme danger to EVERYBODY around you if you're allowed to own a gun or drive a car.
Deny human rights to mentally handicapped people, but give rights to "smart" animals! GENIUS!
I demand human rights for cows and pigs, they want a happy life too
Cows and Pigs are: A- Not wild animals B - Not in any danger of extinction C- Not anywhere near as smart or emotionally complex as Whales and Dolphins They are also sustainable as a farm resource, where as whales are not. Don't even try to bring up "hurr wellw aht if whales were farmed" Because that's never going to happen. It's not economically possible.
C- Not anywhere near as smart or emotionally complex as Whales and Dolphins
Oh wow.
Deny human rights to mentally handicapped people, but give rights to "smart" animals! GENIUS!
We don't go around killing the mentally retarded for "research," do we? That's the rights I'm talking about, the right to not be killed. Do you think I'm proposing that whales be allowed to drive cars?
If our knowledge of genetics were that advanced, we'd make them un-intelligent, or even grown as vat-meat.
We don't go around killing the mentally retarded for "research," do we? That's the rights I'm talking about, the right not not be killed.
They kill the whales for "research" because of stupid sanctions put on them over hunting the animals that they have been hunting for hundreds of years. What do you think would happen if in 50 years there becomes sanctions preventing killing cows for food, but you could still kill them for research and sell the meat after words to be used as food do you not think the US, Canada and most of Europe would be "researching" cows.
They kill the whales for "research" because of stupid sanctions put on them over hunting the animals that they have been hunting for hundreds of years.
You didn't answer my question, do we go around killing the mentally retarded, that was the basis of your whole argument, after all. Don't try to change the subject,
Cows and Pigs are: A- Not wild animals B - Not in any danger of extinction C- Not anywhere near as smart or emotionally complex as Whales and Dolphins They are also sustainable as a farm resource, where as whales are not. They're one of the few, if not, only species on earth that can transform its entire appearance and behavior in a short amount of time. Much like a teenager.
They are unintelligent when compared to human intelligence. Sure their one of the more clever species, but that doesn't make them intelligent.
Yes it does, inf act, they are very intelligent. they have advanced communication, if not complete languages. Their pure congitive ability isn't the only matter here it's how much emotional anguish they go through when being killed. It wouldn't be such a problem if only a very small number were killed, but that's not the case; people who don't need to hunt them are hunting them for extra profit. If it was a case of survival, like it is for Northern Tribes of Inuit and Siberians, then it's justifiable, but if you are hurting sentient and intellegent animals just for some profit, that's pretty fucked up.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMCf7SNUb-Q know many livestock animals that can do that without being teached?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMCf7SNUb-Q know many livestock animals that can do that without being teached?
I don't think that's the argument. My dog plays fetch but that doesn't make it a cognitive being
If anything, dolphins should be given dolphin rights and whales whale rights. Once you start sharing rights, you're gonna have to share all of them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMCf7SNUb-Q know many livestock animals that can do that without being teached?
Fuckers, I wish I could do that.
Who the fuck eats dolphins? Have any of you watched The Cove?
They can go underwater for a bit then come back up away from the boat jackass.
Harpoon ships are made for speed. A spotting vessel spots a pod of whales, harpoon ship goes in hot pursuit, whales panic and dive, spotting vessel spots them when they come up for air, harpoon ships follow. A whale will usually fall behind, or loose the pod, then they chase it to exhaustion, it's unable to dive, then it gets a rocket propelled, explosive tipped harpoon in the back, and dies 20-30 minutes later being tied to the side of a ship, being shot by rifles. The Japanese whaling fleet is a well-oiled machine.
Is it really being shot with rifles? That sounds kinda pointless. Picking out bullets would be annoying.
Is it really being shot with rifles? That sounds kinda pointless. Picking out bullets would be annoying.
They try to shoot it in the head to kill It faster. It doesn't really matter because the harpoon ship takes it to a factory "research" vessel where it is cut up and boxed, ready for market by the time it gets back to japan.
damn thats badass. Us humans are so intelligent. :)
Could be using that intelligence for better purposes than driving whales to extinction.
Damn you Japan! :argh:
Fuck yeah, new debate here we go: Seriously, how the fuck can you not look at these and be amazed. Mother fucking 177 000 kg animals. That's as big as they get, take a good look before you extinct them.
Looks ugly as fuck though
Not if you're a zoophile :q: (I'm not. Honest)
