Fuck me you're stupid. If the governments job isn't to help the people then what the fuck is their job?
To protect peoples rights, to maintain a standing army, to oversee interstate commerce. Not much else. If you think it is the government's job to help you (and i will assume you mean financially) what you really mean to say is its the government's job to rob other people to give it to you and yours, which yeah, was not initially their job.
You may want to look at what got me to disagree. Your silly reason for it. (Seriously, The death penalty for wearing a bowtie or regular tie and talking about the youth? That's just messed up.)
Why are you trying to spin this stop it this is the no spin zone
Why are you trying to spin this stop it this is the no spin zone
yeah in the news is the no spin zopfffffffffffff
To protect peoples rights, to maintain a standing army, to oversee interstate commerce.
niggah what the fuck don't you see the UK up in that joint?
Why are you trying to spin this stop it this is the no spin zone
who do you think you are? Bill O'Reilly? And what spinning? You're the one sitting on a moving top.

Source: http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2010/nov/19/lord-young-grovelling-apology
Technically he is correct considering if half the fucking people didn't go out on a limb and buy a ipad or some other useless shit they didn't need just because they had money in their pocket, or god forbid, put it on a credit card, they would be living better then before And considering I went from being effectively homeless to living in a middle class suburb, I damn well know I've never had it so good despite the recession cutting into my 'useless shit I don't need and fast food' budget
yeah as pain said, oddly enough the US constitution doesn't define what a government does anywhere but the US.
Or for a matter fact; what the US government does in the US in general these days
Except the government is not a for-profit cash grabbing company who's primary interest is profit and the well being of humans in question is not a priority.
Yea! It's not a company at all! [editline]21st November 2010[/editline]
Wow, so Americans have a greater chance of becoming tyrants because they're Americans? Brilliant.
I would say with our record so far we are less likely to become tyrants. We have a large cultural fear of tyrants which is why we are incredibly reluctant to give more power and responsibility to government.
I'd tell you to ask the people who died because they couldn't afford healthcare their opinion on this, but you know.
That's a bad argument. Someone who died due to lack of heathcare doesn't have any more important opinion on this than me.

Because they don't have an opinion, because they're dead, due to your health care.
No you're right, they don't have any more an important opinion than you. Because they don't have an opinion, because they're dead, due to your health care.
Yea and with our health care "reform" it's going to get worse.
Yea and with our health care "reform" it's going to get worse.
You sure of that?
You sure of that?
Yea, it's sort of obvious.
"We've never had it so good! Cutting people's benefits fuck yeah!" What a cock.
D'aaaww your avatar is so adorable . :3
He quit. Cant handle the heat?
Yea, it's sort of obvious.
The united states doesn't seem like it's ripping apart at the seams just yet.
first god made morons, that was for practice, then he made Lord Young
That's your government paying for it. What, you think you Doctors honestly work for absolutely nothing? As I understand it, You pay nothing for your health care, So for you it's free, but your doctor Doesn't work for free. They, and the reimbursement cashier have to get payed from somewhere, and that somewhere is your Government. And how does it afford the NHS? High Taxes and rationing.
High taxes aren't the devil glabber. It's fucking pathetic to see you try and rationale against taxes when you don't understand what they do and where and when high taxes have been applied and how well that's worked for nations. Someone who died due to lack of heathcare doesn't have any more important opinion on this than me.
So you guys give more and more power to corporation and you make the dollar a tyrant? Big fucking deal, someones a tyrant. A well planned and well organized nationalized healthcare service is the best option for healthcare. Insurance companies do not WANT to pay for your surgeries and requirements and will dodge them in every manner possible, they are staffed to the brim with people who will cross check you until you're kicked out of the system because they just don't want to pay. They're for profit. The government won't run for profit, it can run at a slight loss at the service of the peoples general wellfare.
I hope that's a joke.
Its seriously not as bad as other recessions this country has suffered. The cutbacks from this was just from a ticking time bomb from something called 'Labour spending' - using money we don't actually have to fund things we can not gain a profit from. I work and I pay my taxes, it has not really changed a lot for me, economically I'm sure things are a bit bad but as I said - not as bad as they could of been. [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline] In simple terms people are just looking to be offended by Tories.
The united states doesn't seem like it's ripping apart at the seams just yet.
It is, for more reasons than just health care. Our government is full of corruption, we are in debt at a level that is almost irreverseable. Our armies are stretched across the world and eating up money. These are signs of an empire collapsing.
High taxes aren't the devil glabber. It's fucking pathetic to see you try and rationale against taxes when you don't understand what they do and where and when high taxes have been applied and how well that's worked for nations.
We don't necessarily need higher taxes, we need to have serious budget cuts, namely to the military so we can run at a surplus and start paying debt. This isn't a well planned and organized system, this is just the government sucking big businesses' dick(again).
The government won't run for profit, it can run at a slight loss at the service of the peoples general wellfare.
Our government can't run at a loss anymore. We need a budget surplus to start paying debt. Running at a deficit at this point makes no sense.

I'm simply saying that socialized healthcare spends a lot less money, and comes out with a lot better results than private insurance can ever hope to. Using it as a business only risks health and adds millions and billions to an industry that could be kept under much better control.

Which is why I hate the healthcare reform bill.
For all the americans who think our healthcare is shit and crap, you should really watch sicko. Although i do dislike Michael Moore, Sicko has some incredibly realistic comparisons between your system and ours. [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline] also, i wish that people out in the country who vote conservative could understand what its like to live in a city and have to work for your money and not inherit it. Even though i'm just 19 and from a pretty well off family, they have really educated me in what its like to live on your own. I have to work to earn my own money, And for everyone saying "just get a fucking job" NEWSFLASH: have you tried getting a job? its fucking hard and there aren't any. ANd volunteer work doesn't count as you are still taking money from the government on workers allowance. I'm willing to bet the majority of people who are saying what the conservatives are doing is right havn't had to lift a fucking finger to earn a living. Well, the majority of FP that is. Also i'm sorry for the anger towards anyone who might come into the firing line but thats the way i feel and i have every right to vocalize it.
I assure you I am quite safe from your economy here. But seriously even though I partially agree with him he's still a dick and things are definably not ok anywhere right now.

I am uninsured, the state won't give me food stamps or medical care, and basically I get whatever my family can scrounge up to get(my parents are on food stamps and disability so they can't scrounge up much). The liberals haven't done shit to help me either, which is apparent with the health care bill and how our governor basically fucked over the state's budget and is now cutting shit like education and welfare.

Obama was stupid. Well meaning, but stupid. My apologies to your situation.

I'm not working and have been out of work since I left uni (in July). My parents are struggling to pay for everything and also help me out. How can seriously go ahead and just assume that every Conservative is rich and upper class who inherited their wealth?
Neither party is helping us. Republicans are helping the little people as much as Democrats right now.
I was talking about the UK Conservative party (note, Conservative with a capital 'C' refers to the party, not the political stance). Yes that's what fucking sucks about the US Government. You have a choice between only two parties: horribly right-wing or slightly closer to the centre but still right-wing. I would feel so horribly disenfranchised if I was a US voter. I feel your pain.
