DXM was the worst experience of my entire high school age.
Completely depends on how you used it/what setting you used it in/and how much you know about using DXM. Also sorry to hear you had such a bad experience, care to elaborate?
Point is, I don't take drugs at all.
This is unusual because from what I clinically know, Ketamine's usually only meant for anaesthetic purposes when skeletal muscle relaxation isn't required. It can otherwise be used as supplemental anaesthesia, but otherwise is medically good for not much else, at least until this recent discovery.
This is probably because of its psychedelic properties at higher doses. I took a pretty high dose of special K once and it was a really incredible experience. I attribute that to helping alleviate a great deal of anxiety and depression in my life. Very enlightening. I was bodyrocked for a good day and a half afterwards, though.

You're uneducated about drugs, dude. Your brain is constantly synthesizing drugs during your daily life, and those drugs contribute significantly to your state of mind and your consciousness. Drugs like serotonin and melatonin among a host of others. Consuming drugs works because they are similar to drugs that your mind regularly produces (ergo, there are receptive sites for chemically similar drugs). You were meant to be on drugs from the minute you were conceived. If you take pain relievers or drink anything with caffeine in it, you're taking drugs. Also, oxygen has been proven to have psychoactive properties, it acts as a drug as well. Everything is a drug, really. Drugs are so fucking important, it boggles my mind that people continue to be blissfully ignorant about drugs and their mechanisms. If you can take a drug and there's a possibility that it will fix something that is wrong, why would you be against that? Or even if it would just be fun? Nothing objectively wrong with recreational drug use as long as it is moderated. Humans love to have a good time, and drugs can do just that. See: alcohol, marijuana, khat, peyote, mushrooms, opium, etc.

There needs to be comprehensive reform on drug policy and drug education, seriously.
I'm liking all the drug studies coming out recently. It's certainly time to take a much more reasonable and responsible view on the use of various substances, without preconceived notions of which ones are "good" or "bad".

You're taking drugs every time you consume anything.
Or you could just exercise and eat well and do something interesting with your life instead of using drugs? I mean I don't care if someone uses drugs but in my personal experience drugs do not help depression but only make it worse in the long run.
i swear this comic will always be necessary
Ketamine doesn't compare to DXM though. That shit's awesome.
If there were a drug that could only produce the afterglow of a DXM trip, THAT would be my drug of choice.
OT: This is pretty neat, I love when illegal drugs are actually looked at for their benefits in controlled doses.

What?
What?

A drug is a substance which may have medicinal, intoxicating, performance enhancing or other effects when taken or put into a human body or the body of another animal and is not considered a food or exclusively a food.
In other words, anything and everything can be considered a drug if the dose is large enough to exhibit some effect on the body.

I don't take man made drugs rather.
Or you could just exercise and eat well and do something interesting with your life instead of using drugs? I mean I don't care if someone uses drugs but in my personal experience drugs do not help depression but only make it worse in the long run.
Finding the drive to to exercise while depressed is like being asked to go mountain climbing after a 24 hour work shift. The energy and motivation is just not there and you'd rather go to bed.
no its obvious they just didnt man up enough
That's right! :v:
"And is not considered a food or exclusively a food"
caffeine is a drug and it is in food(mostly drinks but still).
caffeine is a drug and it is in food(mostly drinks but still).
okay guys you're really stretchin' it to try and convince this guy he's always eating drugs.
I really need to start trying some drugs. I've struggled with depression for quite some time.
caffeine is a drug and it is in food(mostly drinks but still).
Yeah, okay. I'm also a caffeine addict and cure my depression with a fuckload of coffee. I'm still not convinced that everything ever is a drug, and that using opioids to cure depression is a good idea
I don't take man made drugs rather.
So you basically don't take painkillers or any sort of medication or antibiotic? You also don't drink tea or coffee? Or even soft drinks?
[editline]4th April 2014[/editline]
Oh and marijuana and opium aren't man made so you must be loving that.
I don't take man made drugs rather.
what do you do when you are severely ill
have you ever had any vaccines
have you ever been to the dentist and had a tooth drilled and they injected anaesthetic into your gums
i want to know
[editline]4th April 2014[/editline]
how do you feel about the fact that your brain produces drugs constantly
holy shit when someone says they dont do drugs it's really obvious that they mean recreational use
while it isn't wrong to say 'hur durr but medicines and coffee is a drug!' it does make you look really dumb
Yeah, okay. I'm also a caffeine addict and cure my depression with a fuckload of coffee. I'm still not convinced that everything ever is a drug, and that using opioids to cure depression is a good idea
A drug is something that alters chemical reactions in the brain. Get rekt.

I would like a source of that definition please
Finding the drive to to exercise while depressed is like being asked to go mountain climbing after a 24 hour work shift. The energy and motivation is just not there and you'd rather go to bed.
When I exercise I keep my mind shut down. Later when I go to bed it turns back on and it takes me 2-3 hours to fall asleep because... you know, life still sucks.
Btw, did 5x5x90kg squats today.
I don't take man made drugs rather.
why
Why are you guys arguing over everything being a drug in a thread where scientists found a potential inhibitor to what was thought as incurable depression?
It's pretty blatantly obvious that if you eat a slice of ham you aren't taking recreational drugs. The social "norm" of drugs is a pretty big difference to that.

that doesn't work for anyone I've ever met, it's awesome that you can do that though
Or you could just exercise and eat well and do something interesting with your life instead of using drugs? I mean I don't care if someone uses drugs but in my personal experience drugs do not help depression but only make it worse in the long run.
You should say that to someone with mental problems who use them to feel good. My love of drugs kept me for the most part sane.
I would like a source of that definition please
"drug (drug) 1. a chemical substance that affects the processes of the mind or body."
http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/drug
way to keep on topic friends
"drug (drug) 1. a chemical substance that affects the processes of the mind or body."
http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/drug
2. any chemical compound used in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of disease or other abnormal condition.
3. a substance used recreationally for its effects on the central nervous system, such as a narcotic.
I like these definitions better, they make more sense
