drugs are cool. i've experienced a lot of things that i would have NEVER experienced had i not dabbled in recreational drugs.
worth doing.
2. any chemical compound used in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of disease or other abnormal condition.
3. a substance used recreationally for its effects on the central nervous system, such as a narcotic.
I like these definitions better, they make more sense
The first one is still relevant whether you like it or not.
regardless it's just semantics
holy shit when someone says they dont do drugs it's really obvious that they mean recreational use
while it isn't wrong to say 'hur durr but medicines and coffee is a drug!' it does make you look really dumb
Yeah, but it's no better than going on and on about how you don't take any drugs (or specifically man-made drugs) ever in a thread about a drug treating a medical condition. Great, he does no drugs, nobody fucking cares and the thread would have been perfectly fine without that little tidbit of personal knowledge. You have to admit that he (and the other people doing the same thing) are essentially shitposting for the sake of shitposting.
My point is when you're riding around on a high horse and reminding everyone that you are, in fact, on said horse, everyone's going to eventually start throwing shit at you to knock you off of it. Why? So you shut the fuck up about your goddamn horse.
Groundbreaking research! Happiness might be the cure for depression. Scientists optimistic about new discovery. Patients remain sceptic.
Hope this develops into something good. Buddy o' mine's been insanely depressed for awhile. It'll be nice to have another route towards relief.
Its as if entire facepunch is filled with drug junkies.
Some people want to take them, some dont. People, especially the ones who boxed the guy who said he "doesnt take them but this thread interested" him are bigoted as fuck.

Disagree; I believe it's applicable to say it's just a harder thing to make some believe

Who needs partying when you can just sit in the corner gurning your face off?

I'm sorry but what. Why are you generalizing FP like that? That's such a useless blanket statement. It's more idiotic than you saying "Some people want to take them, some dont. People, especially the ones who boxed the guy who said he "doesnt take them but this thread interested" him are bigoted as fuck". Pretty funny that you use the word "bigoted" when you yourself seem to be bigoted against people who use drugs recreationally and know how to use them responsibly; but regardless, when he chose to post in this thread out of ANY thread to say he didn't like drugs but it interested him. It's completely expected for people to try and understand why he has the views he does. So no, the people giving him boxes aren't really bigots
well this sure sounds better than the kind of antidepressants they perscribe now
you know, the kind that tend to actually flatten your mood and increase the chances of suicide.

Yeah ya'know, those drugs that are in no way shape or formed prescribed by medical professionals backed up by years of extensive research. Yeah, those drugs that people think don't work because they don't listen to their providers or take them on a consistent basis. Those drugs that people expect to cure them when it's explained by each and every prescriber that drugs don't cure mental illness like Depression but people don't want to listen anyways because they want the easiest way out. Yeah those.

That wasn't the point of his box fort.
You know, as someone against recreational drug use this however does catch my interest.
You see why that post was pointless now, right? You don't do drugs, but you're interested in their uses, that's nice, nobody cares. It only gives off this passive aggressive "I don't do drugs so I'm better than you" attitude and contributes nothing to the thread.
This is unusual because from what I clinically know, Ketamine's usually only meant for anaesthetic purposes when skeletal muscle relaxation isn't required. It can otherwise be used as supplemental anaesthesia, but otherwise is medically good for not much else, at least until this recent discovery.
My father has an exceptionally rare neuromuscular disorder that makes it difficult for him to make spontaneous movements or to move quickly. He can't catch himself when he falls and he has to prime himself before lifting things or getting up from a seat (and even then, must be careful).
He started taking a very common and cheap heart arrhythmia medication at the advice of his neurologist and within days he showed massive improvement. Now it's not a cure, but as a treatment it is extremely effective and affordable.
You never know what kind of results you will get.

'A chemical substance'.
This is almost misleading. It should state a Psychological Reaction or Variation, since we Can have reactions to Non chemical substances such as Music. They mean to say 'a reaction of our Neurotransmitters'.
Which then in turn includes social interaction, food, tv, breathing, sleeping, and everything in between.
Let me start by saying that I've set personal standards against recreational drug use for personal reasons and third-party experiences.
Just because something is a drug, does not mean it's used to just be a dipshit or "escaping reality". In this thread particularly, the drug is being tested to find its uses. Legitimate science and study, short and long term. Disputing the findings because "drug use is bad, mmkay" is nonsense.
On the other hand, some people clearly have done too much experimenting and are willing to try anything that has an article on it and are being offended just because someone is irrationally against the use of drugs for personal reasons that are valid regardless if you accept them or not, hence the personal.
