Activision should have won imo
at-least EA has a few decent games
Just as a point, this was conducted by Consumerist. Its not about its impact on the industry, or its corruption, or any of that. It is solely about the consumer. So if you're wondering why Bank of America didn't win or Walmart or something like that, just remember that this is about the consumers. BoA is horrible and a shining example of corruption and filth, but that has little to do with the consumers. Walmart fucks over everyone involved with it, abuses its employees, and crushes small businesses, but it is a marvel as a consumer looking for diverse goods and cheap products.
this changes what about The Consumerist being a joke in almost every way
It is not long until there are only 4 major game companies left.
EA, Ubisoft, Activision and Valve.
Might even lose one of them.
...that's not really true
Do you think EA cares about this award. No. So long as they make money, they don't give a two cent worth of this
Our best bet is to never buy anything from EA ever again. Like that would ever work
Our best bet is to never buy anything from EA ever again. Like that would ever work
Damn you EA for publishing good games, damn you!
The Federal Reserve should have one (it isn't as Federal as the name suggests)

Ubisoft seems to be the weakest of the three, Valve pretty much owns PC Gaming and EA and Activision own consoles.

Well there is iD Software too but they seem to be pretty dead-ish.
And Rockstar.
Why was Bank of America even on the list? I've had an account there for years, and they even dropped a fee when I accidentally over drafted.
Is it because of the whole, "Occupy" thing?
BoA has actually be "winning" this for several years now
They frequently do underhanded moneygrab tactics for their customers (i.e. monthly $5 debit card fee just to use a debit card) first of all.
Secondly they are probably one of the major causes of the housing market failure, and have been one of the root forces in the economic downturn america is going through, especially as the biggest bank in america. Huge CEO bonuses, etc.
You might not notice if you're just a casual user of BoA but they are a very corrupt company that also happens to hold a lot of power.
Westwood Studios never forget
EA is terrible and all but I really think Walmart is the worst company the world.
yeh, i dont care that peoples lives are ruined by banks and the financial troubles that we're going through is mostly due to them and the fact that most of the other companies on that list make the lives of many people horrible (they're only brown/chinese/asian people so who cares!!), that's nowhere near as bad as making me use a seperate client to play my videogames....

Here's the full competition if anyone is interested

Though I don't understand why anyone would say Wal-mart is worse than Paypal, and also thinks BoA is actually better than EA
EA is terrible and all but I really think Walmart is the worst company the world.
Walmart creates thousands of jobs for people who are too stupid to get one elsewhere. Other than shitty product quality I see no problem with walmart.
MPAA is worse
MPAA is worse
MPAA isn't a consumer company
Origin is only standing upright because of exclusive titles, that's not competition at all.
If someone decides to "tear apart" your gaming library at the end of the trilogy, there better be some damn good reasons behind that. And considering Steam has been setting an example you could've observed for so long and EA has so many resources, Origin did pretty terrible on release and only survived because of aforementioned exclusive titles, not because it's got innovative features that put it ahead of Steam in certain areas.
On topic, EA is probably not the worst company out there, but you wouldn't determine that with a poll anyway. Any poll like this has a certain demographic, certain kinds of users that go on these sites. Avid videogame players are more likely to stumble across such a site than their grandma for example. That's why good statistics take votes from all sorts of demographic groups and evaluate their percentages based on how big the demographic groups are in the entire town/nation/world.
But yeah, EA is treating its employees and frequently customers like dirt.
In all honesty, Valve should have signed a contract preventing that.
Their DLC policy is actually foreshadowed by their tagline.
"It's in the game."

That's just for EA Sports though.
EA's regular one is "Challenge everything" which kind of fits too I guess

Challenge everything (except our business practices and customer services)
Wal-mart needs to be the winner of this title, not EA, EA may be a shit company based entirely upon profit, but Wal-mart runs fucking local stores out of business in smaller towns because they offer mediocre items at slightly lower prices.
EA forces fucking spyware on you if you buy their products.
but what about all the companies in america that pump toxic waste into rivers or the companies that are destroying the environment?
i think it shows how much of a disease consumerism is when people are more concerned over videogames than the state of the planet they live on.
EA forces fucking spyware on you if you buy their products.
No it doesn't. If you still believe that "origin is spyware lol" bullshit then you should just throw your PC out the window.

This, it's been proven quite a few times that none of the software provided with EA games is actually spyware. Origin does check a few locations on your computer for relevant information. It doesn't scan everything, and it doesn't send that data to EA (network monitors would be reporting quite large packets if it was).
It's just some of the provided software is bollocks in terms of actually functioning (like PunkBuster).
Uhh, EA bought DICE, they own them, same as most of the games "published" by them.
And soon EA imposes their shit, the studio sinks and everyone gets fired, back to buying another one, and the cycle repeats.
Great, EA bought DICE, they own them. What's you point exactly? EA still didn't make the game. They just funded and published. Any design decisions in the game are from the developers, the developer obviously has to pander to what their publisher thinks is selling, but it's still their choice.

What about all those companies leaving people homeless, forcing people into years of debt, and such?
origin is the biggest piece of shit on the planet though
I can think of a lot of other things that are worse than a piece of goddamn non-mandatory software that you don't have to have.
It was really just a bunch of angsty fucking teens in developed nations who know nothing about problems in the real world. And I can't believe so many people agree with this guy. Shows how fucked up most people's priorities are nowadays.
Also the fact that this is based on consumer opinion doesn't help. "Oh, Walmart does screw over millions of people, ruins small businesses, and has other shady business practices, but I can buy things for cheap so I don't care." It just further shows how selfish people are.
What about all those companies leaving people homeless, forcing people into years of debt, and such?
like Bank of America you mean?
