Again, this contest is probably about consumer opinion. If it was something as serious as "what country had the worst effect on the economy/environment", it would probably not be a matter of a public poll rather than hard facts.
I think the difference is that on the internet, more people care about video games than they care about the economy, and are a lot more likely to be less knowledged about some bank company than they would on a popular game developer company. It's clearly a biased vote.
That is basically all the contest was mind, a publicity thing for the Consumerist. Get something simple like this on Facebook and it can receive millions of hits for no effort on your part. People will just spread it and some of those hits might start using the site regularly.
They got a hit from me, probably some of my friends for checking it out after reading about it on other sites, but all we think of is how little perspective they, and anyone who voted for EA over Bank of America, have in this world.
So then what has EA done worse than helping crash a global economy and rob thousands of people of money and property.
Those companies did none of those things to me, and therefor I don't really have any negative or positive opinion on them.
Those companies did none of those things to me, and therefor I don't really have any negative opinion on them.
This is literally the worst response you could have made to that question.
This is literally the worst response you could have made to that question.
I disagree. You just assume everyone cares about what the companies do to America, rather than what American companies do to the rest of us.
[editline]5th April 2012[/editline]
Aside from gas prices, our economy here has not suffered any great loss.
So I would vote for the only company that personally effects me negatively.
I disagree. You just assume everyone cares about what the companies do to America, rather than what American companies do to the rest of us.
Bank of America helped several other major banks crash the American economy. They pay for elections. They extended their machinations to Europe and are one of the reasons that countries like Ireland, Portugal, and Greece are in such a bind right now. Don't play this off as some dumb American thing, Bank of America is quantifiably worse than EA as a company. To imply otherwise and desperately try to ignore it shows just how sheltered and unaware you are as a person. If you have a reason why EA is worse than Bank of America then tell us, but drop the "It doesn't affect me (even though it does) so it doesn't matter" argument because you just look silly.
[editline]4th April 2012[/editline]
It's really simple: What has EA done that's so bad? Why are you dodging the question? You said EA was worse than Bank of America. What is the reason?

It has not had any major impact on my life, I did not even know they existed until I heard about them in this poll. Therefor I vote for the only company that I'm aware of have affected me negatively. EA is worse than Bank of America to me, because I have not suffered any bad influence from Bank of America.
Really, Sweden's still doing fine aside from a few retarded politicians. Sucks for you guys, but with your attitude I'm starting to feel less sympathetic.

Uh oh, I don't have the sympathy of a massively ignorant FPer, whatever shall I do!
Why is EA such a bad company?
[editline]4th April 2012[/editline]
Sweden as a country, even if it was miniscule in comparison, suffered more from the 2008 global economic crisis than anything EA has done to you. Atleast that's my guess, because you keep dodging the question.

They buy up developers like Westwood and Bullfrog, split them up and limit their freedom to create what they want, and milk their franchises. They make countless low-quality rehashes to mainstream gaming titles because they know it sells well. They introduce terrible DRM in their game that does fuck all to prevent pirates but makes things a lot more tedious for the people who actually buy their games. They have overly expensive DLC, and many of their games have day1dlc.

As I have said countless times, their effect (if any) is miniscule enough to have gone by unnoticed.
They have not effected me in any noticeable way, therefor I have no negative nor positive opinion of them, I barely knew of their existence before this poll.
EA however, has been a company I have disliked for several years.

WORSE THAN BANK OF AMERICA.
[editline]4th April 2012[/editline]
Sorry for people who had their houses repossessed and governments of Portugal and Greece. But hey atleast they don't have to deal with day one DLC!!!!
WORSE THAN BANK OF AMERICA.
I don't have a negative opinion of Bank of America, because they have not affected me.
Therefor I vote EA, how is this so fucking hard to understand?

It's not hard to understand after you finally answered the question you have been dodging for the better part of an hour.
You are a completely unaware video gamer who shows a stunning lack of perspective and empathy. While the latter is hard to ask for and even harder to come by on the internet, the former seems like a problem on your part.
But hey I guess thanks for helping support my theory as to the kinds of people who voted for this.
Jeez, with that attitude, you deserve to get your house reposessed
But hey I guess thanks for helping support my theory as to the kinds of people who voted for this.
You seem unable to understand that this is a poll of personal opinion.
I could not care less if Bank of America fucks you over royally, and in fact, I might like them better if they do.
I have political opinions, but this is not a poll about political opinion, this is a poll about personal opinion.

Now you're just being a twat. He has a valid point. If you are so sheltered from everything in the world that you think the antics of the BoA haven't affected you in any way, then something is wrong. Almost every country with any ties to the US was affected by them, by extension that means you as an inhabitant would be too. The fact you weren't even aware of their existence before now is frankly, fucking frightening.

Why is this dumb you literally stated above that day one DLC is worse than having your house repossessed.
If I could vote on either EA or WeEatBabiesCO, I would vote EA. Because even if the other company does something worse, I have never heard of them before in my life and they have not tried to eat any of my babies. I'm not voting for Bank of America, because their effect on my life has been so minuscule that I barely knew of their existence.

More like you are so sheltered that you barely know if it's existence.
Come on man you are arguing on the internet, you have the worlds knowledge at your finger tips, stop making lame excuses for your ignorance.
Come on man you are arguing on the internet
Great fucking argument genius
[editline]5th April 2012[/editline]
As a connoisseur of the interwebs, I have the right to only give as much fucks as I personally feel like
[editline]5th April 2012[/editline]
It is the most popular opinion that EA is the worse company, because that's what this is all about, opinion.
I personally disagree with your opinion that Bank of America is the worst company, because I do not have any negative opinions on the Bank of America. Now this conversation has been nothing more than a shitfest of you arguing that I must feel the same opinion as you, otherwise my opinion is wrong. Well, it is my opinion that your opinion is not better than my opinion, and in fact, that my opinion is better than your opinion, even though both of our opinions really don't matter at fucking all since it's just a matter of opinion.

It's not an opinion issue. You are trying to make it an opinion issue by not acknowledging the things Bank of America does, or, if you are acknowledging what they are doing, you are saying it's not affecting you so that it doesn't matter.

so the verdict is in then. consumers are fucking morons destroying the planet and not caring about it.
What the hell happened to Activision, what about them? Well, maybe they don't have much game as EA.
Everything Activision does EA has done worse

Because gaming news sites picked up on this and the angry masses voted. If they did not BoA would have won. This is not a definite final say all so shut your face hole.

"Angry" is a weird way to spell dumb.
After that Battlefield 3 fiasco, I won't be buying anything EA any longer.
They took a dog turd, sprayed it with gold, added lots of bloom with more blue and brown, marketed it with millions of dollars, deliberately claimed gameplay features not featured and sold it to us with a whopping $60 price tag. Some people thought the dog turd smelled too much, but to fix it, EA simply sprayed it with perfume
I got it when they were selling it half off a while back.
I however am not at all affected by Bank of America or Wallmart, and watching them fuck up your country while I watch from a distance back here in Sweden
wow you are dumb

Hooray, a shitstorm.
This is from the same poll that counted the USPS as a company. 10/10
Good, I don't know that any of those other companies blatantly hate and rip off their customers like EA. Yeah, a $5 debit card fee is bad, but is it worse than ripping content out of a game so you can sell it on day 1 for an extra $10? Or pulling your games from every other distribution service to force people to install your spyware to play? Or charging people to play used games online?

uh yeah dude it's a lot worse. Bank of America is known for foreclosing on homes and lying about protection.
