besides the clear religious delusion ISIS aren't morons. They have to know continuously poking the UK and USA will do nothing except get them all killed.
You dont know much about ISIS's motivations then:

"The Islamic State awaits the army of “Rome,” whose defeat at Dabiq, Syria, will initiate the countdown to the apocalypse."
They are absolutely counting on it in fact.

Its a neato comparison but humans try to attach meaning to things and make patterns where they don't exist.
Imo they get some angry people who hate the brits anyway and seize some attack of opportunity.
They're gonna try flying a plane into the Big Ben?
Not a plane, A double-decker bus.
Not a plane, A double-decker bus.
Buses can't fly!
They're not Al-Quaeda, ISIS has a clear goal in the Middle East. UK probably isn't all that interesting to them.
Isis main agenda is to break down borders set by Great Britain and form a Caliphate, they hate the UK.
Do they really think they could win a war with the west? That's kinda laughable.
It's not about winning. They would just love to draw us into counter-insurgency on the same scale as Afghanistan or post-2003 Iraq if not to a higher degree due to the level of equipment they have. This causes indirect harm to us, but harm none-the-less. Additionally they can twist an Western intervention as vindication of their cause an painting themselves as the victims. Death isn't defeat for islamic extremists, only an end to the propagation of their ideals is
Does this mean we can expect to see another invasive surveillance act again sometime soon?
Wednesday, probably.
According to the Telegraph:
- ISPs would have to log browsing histories and emails (and probably more), and keep them for a year.
- Police would get access to at least the browsing history warrantlessly.
:speechless:
I personally would invest into a foreign VPN server at that point, and clear all default certificates.
I am not sure assuming that ISIS consists of just barbarians who want to fight isn't delusional. These guys were defeating regular militaries left right and centre not too long ago, which means their leadership knows a thing or two. Hell, they manage to extract money from western countries by taking hostages and selling various historical artefacts (paying with human lives for historical relics, gg). The moment they directly attack western countries, that will stop.
I think you hold this "They hate our way of life and want to take our DEMOCRACY and FREEDOMS away!" narrative a little too close to heart there. So far they haven't really shown that they give a shit about the West.
ISIS' large scale brutality is p much unprecedented
who says that being a barbarian who wants to fight excludes them from strategic know how? every army loves a cunning psychopath (and to be fair military strategy is well documented and easily understandable and applicable in theory and following drilled orders based on that strategy is trained monkey level work). barbarian is actually a very fitting word because it means everything from "non christian" to "inferior and alien" which is definitely how we see ISIS and also why we can't understand them except as covertly secular modern strategists using medieval ideology as a smokescreen. Either that or we write them off as totally insane.
Their motivations probably vary a lot even inside the organisation but they probably are in good part very anti west due to their conquest aimed anti secular, anti infidel message.

They have attacked just about every nation they have come into contact with. They have committed terrorist acts in Saudi Arabia,Egypt and Turkey. Countries with pretty significant militarys. Doesn't sound like a very logical strategy to me.
As for you other comment, which is a bit condescending, ISIS has already attacked areas specifically because they western tourist destinations. The attack in Tunisia was aimed at westerners. Also the fact they beheaded several people based nothing but on their nationality.
