Overkill secretly controls Daybreak, conspiracy or fact?
I remember when this game was just becoming a thing, and I was like "It's gonna be a train wreck like every other DayZ-like game." And some of my friends said "No, it's a triple A company this time, it'll be good!"
So yeah, I saw this coming from a mile away.
SOE, triple A. Your friends have good jokes.
I fucking knew something like this was going to happen
Also, a reminder for everyone who didn't see this video when it was posted in the videos forum, this is what Rust looks like these days:

It's possibly a staged video, but it's unexpectedly great.
Compare to Pay1Z1.
I didn't think any game developer was going to take after Tim Schafer.
I stopped playing this game actively a while ago, it just didn't seem like it was getting the necessary updates to keep you interested and a lot of the annoying bugs since it entered EA still persist.
I tried playing not too long ago after months of not touching it, the zombies weren't really improved in any way and the aggressive animals are worst than they were when I first started playing it. Having a bear or wolf ignore walls in a house is extremely terrifying though.
Seemed like once Battle Royale came out they just shifted focus to that almost entirely.
I bought h1z1 specifically to play battle royale
I tried the main zombie gamemode and it's trash
Now that is just too much Overkill
OOOPS.

there's a reason you're postal's bitch...

Yeah no. Planetside was a clusterfuck.

I've seen literally 0 gameplay of the survival mode,
To remind myself of the mistakes I've made in the past, H1Z1 is in my "SHIT I REGRET BUYING" Steam library folder along with Ace of Spades.
What the fuck. I just started playing this shit, too.
I was kinda waiting for H1Z1 to go free to play so I could try out the Battle Royale mode, no worries though, I won't be buying the game.
My friend bought me Rust a few minutes ago before I even saw this thread so I don't really care now that I'll have a survival type game to play. Rust has good devs right? Does Garry still develop everything for the game?
This sounds like that World War Z game..
Last year they claimed the game would be F2P by June, you could buy into it early to help development and give feed back. They also said that this was made with Star Wars Galaxies fans in mind, and yet apparently only whatever Battle Royal is has actually been updated. I'm glad I never even considered getting this and that I convinced my brother not to bother.

If you are the kind of person who enjoy Dayz and basically just survival games, Rust is seriously great. I bought it last month and I already got 180 hours clocked. It's so awesome to see that the team is constantly updating and improving a game that already works so well for what it is.
You chose to do what you want. So if you want to be a part of a huge clan and fight other huge clans, that's what you do. And if you just want to have private fortress and a huge backyard with houses for all your friends, you can do that as well. It's definitely the social aspect that is carrying this game. You make so many friends and enemies and it's hilarious to see how things turn out in the end.
Basically what I'm trying to say is if you're craving a proper survival game with respectable developers, go for Rust over anything right now, especially H1Z1
I'm not surprised. Daybreak removed the Silver membership from Everquest for a monthly subscription.
$20 each? I better buy the forest anyway..
Refund request got denied twice.
Ahhhhh I'm never gonna see my 19.99 USD ever again.
Think after this I'm probably not gonna buy into Early Access again.
Ofc you're not gonna get a refund.

I love battle royale on this and I'm fine with this. Hell.. They are giving me a copy of both versions so I'm fine with that. If I had to repurchase it I'd be upset but that isn't the case. This way I see the benefits of balancing issues between "pvp" and "pve" or simply put both gamemodes. The influx of money may boost team sizes so we will get more focus on battle royale updates.

Why do you want a refund? If you bought early access they're adding both games to your account. It's gonna stay exactly the same for you except for the fact that if you wanna switch between battle royal and survival you need to boot up a different game. It only sucks for people that haven't bought the game yet
Can they do that? Technically they've changed the product that you've paid for into a different one.
It's early access. When you buy into early access, you're kind of agreeing that the game you bought might change completely during development.
As some one who has played h1z1. This does not surprise me one bit. I do think the game is better then dayz just because its not using the shitty arma engine goes for the standalone too. The game is unbalanced, servers have some lag but isn't that bad, and the community is pretty shit. I played it a couple times had a character that was about a week old. Fully geared out and got killed by some new spawn with a bow and arrow. Haven't played it since cause whats the point when a new spawn is just as powerful as some one in armor and with guns.
And people thought Smedley leaving would improve the company.
people defended the microtransactions in this too. "its not that bad other people can steal your microtransaction stuff after you get it". Bleh.

remember when we fell for WarZ and choked on Sergey Titov's dick?

never again

To be fair, players can't steal paid items from you. They just get a limited durability version of what you had which eventually breaks like everything else. You just respawn with whatever you've paid for.
Did they actually promise and advertise it as being guaranteed to go F2P when it was finished or released or whatever?
If they did, they really should be offering refunds to people who bought it when it was early access because they bought in under the assumption that it was going F2P later. They were lied to, even if technically it doesn't effect them since they already paid. What if someone bought the game to support the company because they thought it was cool of them for going F2P and to play with friends that would wait for it to go free?
This is such a shitty move.

Yep, they'd been saying this since pretty much as soon as the game was revealed.
