H1Z1 Being Split into two $20 Games. No longer going F2P like promised since before the early access - Polidicks

Bleh.[/QUOTE] To be fair, there isn't anything inherently wrong with them, they're essentially the same as the skins in CS:GO, DOTA 2 etc. They're all cosmetic. That being said, just like Valve's approach to micro-transactions there's an obnoxious amount of them.

This sucks but it doesn't look like anyone is really being screwed over? If you bought it in Early Access you're still getting the full game.

Tbh if not for in game purchases, that would make me consider buying it. If a a game has a pricetag and in game purchases though, I'm nopeing the fuck out, even if it's mostly cosmetics. I'd be more pissed if it wasn't supposed to be f2p, but then went and did it.

Kinda funny to think that an indie game like Unturned is better made than H1Z1. And the fact that the game is free.

You want to know the worst thing about it? Battle Royale, as a concept, is pretty fucking awesome, I love the idea of getting dropped into a huge map where you scavenge for weapons and supplies. Shame all the gameplay of H1Z1 BR is just "find assault rifle, get put into smaller area within like five minutes" instead of playing the long game

I've not played h1z1 but I've watched a fair bit of both game modes and I the battle royals look like a lot more fun than the survival so I can see why they'd want to split the game in order to focus on half without having it fuck with the other but I can understand why its a dick move for them to not allow refunds to those who bought it early no longer getting a game they supported

Did anyone really trust them after the mess that was Planetside 2?

I really don't get why everyone is so pissed when the business model that has been replaced was just fucking awful. Originally they where going to charge even tickets to even play Battle Royal. You would get these tickets through playing survival mode or buying them with real money. You could also buy a fucking subscription to play Battle Royal for something like 7 USD a month. Everyone who is saying they are going to refund the game apparently didn't know anything about what they purchased in the first place.

This is a good move. People have been butthurt as fuck that the devs haven't been focusing on the shitty survival mode and instead focusing on the more fun, more profitable, battle royal mode. This way people will stop bitching at the devs for not adding shit to survival even though they clearly don't have the manpower. You also have to keep in mind that after sony sold off its game studios and they became Daybreak they laid off a huge chunk of their team. Including all the smart programmers. If you look at the screenshots and shit from a year and a half ago it looks so much better. The graphics are better, the environment is more varied, weather isn't completely shit, etc. Also, thank fuck it didn't go F2P. That was off the table months ago. All games that go F2P are ruined by hackers and russians. Combine that with H1Z1's shitty anticheat you have a recipe for a shit game.

Bought this around the time it got hyped, without really looking into it as I was enjoying the genre at the time. This is definitely the last time I buy an Early Access game I don't truly believe in.
