Only selling point I can see, is powerful yet cheap little box for running emulators on.
Marketed right, that can also move massive numbers of it.

Enjoy hauling out your PC every time you, or your family wants to use the media center/play emulated games through it.
I have the i7 and 680GTX, I don't need it in the living room. If you do, go for it. Build some monster machine.
I have a 15 meter DVI to HDMI cable and two wireless controllers. I play my shit from the other room. Your move.
I have the Nexus 4
I have the Nexus 7
I have the 360
I have the Wii
I have the Playstation 3
I have the powerhouse PC with the i7 and the 680GTX
Give me a solution that will allow me to play all my video/music formats out in the living room and give me a solution that will allow me to play MAME/emulators in the living room without jailbreaking one of the aforementioned consoles WITHOUT
A.) Making one of my otherwise portable devices stationary and requiring additional accessories such as MHL adapters, USB Host devices and Bluetooth Controllers
B.) Rooting my consoles (risking a ban online).
Again, I don't need the i7 and the 680GTX in the living room and I definitely don't want to spend a thousand dollars building one.
Why don't you mention your PC one more time? I'm sure people care and aren't annoyed by you.
I'm really considering purchasing one of these for old school gaming on a high-def TV, and the RPi + ShortCrust for small home-server usage. Wouldn't be all that bad a deal either.

What do you mean by small home-server? a raspberry pi probably won't cut most of what you need if you plan on doing anything storage related
[editline]28th December 2012[/editline]
A NAS would be a better idea albeit more expensive (not really if you have an old PC lying around that you can throw FreeNAS on)
This isn't meant for you ~hardcore gamers~.
Its made for people who enjoy the typical smartphone games, and who want to play shit like Angry Birds on their TV - whilst also being able to browse the web and watch videos.

Is it that simple to use?
I can't imagine hardcore Angry Birds fans will have the slightest idea what to do
I want one
I ordered one.

Perhaps you should buy a real pc rather than just a CPU and a GPU, because that seems to be all you can say.

I think you mean "mass storage related" and not "anything storage related", because the RPi can easily hold a tiny web server running Ruby and server as a compile-and-forget platform where I can just upload small servlets and leave them running for whatever purpose I might have.
A lot of people are saying I should just get the Raspberry Pi but the thing is, this is the all-in-one solution, works out of the box. I won't need to buy adapters, I won't need to buy a mouse/keyboard and I will probably get a better experience than I would using Linux from the couch on a 60 inch television.
Not to mention it's enclosed rather than being a motherboard you just have sitting around, definitely a pro in my household.
wait wait wait aren't you the guy that constantly ignores the main reason that people buy iphones
and you're now talking about out of the box experience?
Tegra 3 driving 1080p displays is not going to be a pretty sight especially using Android, I hope they have some heavy optimisation going on!
There's a lot of hate towards it. People don't understand the potential of it and they're thinking that it will run DayZ/Skyrim.

HorizoN, you rated my post dumb but didn't give a solution to my issue.
Explain to me how using the
Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (lacks video output), Wii (only supports up to 720P, upscaled with a third party adapter), Playstation 3, Xbox 360
I can
A.) play all my media formats (music/video)
B.) play MAME and console emulated games
in the living room without
A.) rooting my consoles and risking a ban from online play
or
C.) making my otherwise portable devices, stationary
Also don't say "bring out the PC" because it's upstairs, it's unnecessary and I don't want to have to haul down my 15lb PC whenever my wife and kids that stay at home all day want to watch movies/play games.
I streamed movies and music from my PC to my PS3 when I needed to.
I guess it has an advantage with emulated games, but honestly, from my experience with Android emulators I'd rather just buy a long ass HDMI cable and some wireless controllers and use my PC.

Android support is meh, and Linux is borderline atrocious.
At-least Nvidia is actively contributing to getting Linux up and running on Tegra, and it (Tegra) also has far more grunt.
Not to mention it has already proven it's performance with android.
Now if it were one of the "android sticks" with the Freescale i.MX 6 Quad-core processor, then it would be a WHOLE other story.
I think I'll wait a little bit before picking one of these up to see what developers come up with on it.
I think I'll wait a little bit before picking one of these up to see what developers come up with on it. It's certainly powerful enough to play every PS2 and original xbox game.
There's barely a decent PS2 emulator for PC.
There's barely a decent PS2 emulator for PC.
Damn you :v: , I just edited my post after doing some research and finding that it was difficult to emulate PS2s.
There's barely a decent PS2 emulator for PC.
My guess is that you've had bad experiences with it, but the most recent developed upon PS2 emulators work just fine on my two machines, albeit not super great on my netbook.
[editline]28th December 2012[/editline]
Oh, and believe it or not, both run ATi/AMD GPUs.
[editline]28th December 2012[/editline]
Open source drivers too.

PCSX2 still doesn't run Gran Turismo 4 without all kinds of tweaking,
That's the make-or-break game for me.
I prefer my consoles to have a cartridge port or a CD drive. Not this tiny little thing which will definitely get lost very quickly.
I prefer my consoles to have a cartridge port or a CD drive. Not this tiny little thing which will definitely get lost very quickly.
I can understand misplacing a small & black USB stick, but that's just retarded.
And I'm sick and tired of having to change the physical game media on/in the console itself.
Damn non-symetrical controllers. My hands are symertrical the controller should be.
[SUB]Dont reply with a comment about keyboard & mouse, those are not designed primarily for gaming and the input methods are different anyway.[/SUB]

What cellphone since last decade hasn't been ready to use out of the box?

i actually prefer when the analog sticks aren't symmetrical. the gamecube controller is my favourite. xbox is pretty comfortable too.
I was going to agree with the symmetrical controller thing, but then I realized I'm not really holding the controller symmetrically much of the time since the buttons have different degrees of relevancy.
The old fat xbox controller was the most comfortable one I've used, I think.
So... it's the game-playing aspects of a smartphone, without the portability of one?
Using a TV to play mobile games sounds like using an HD monitor to play text adventures. I just don't see what niche this can fulfill.

Do you have big hands? I do and I loved the old Xbox controller, but pretty much everyone else I've talked to hated it.

i assume you can also watch videos and play music and browse the internet.
which are all cool things to have on a living room tv.
They should just call it the DevBox or the E-Cube.
OUYA is all vowels n shit.
It's going to fail as a conse due to a lack of games.
It's going to fail as a HTPC due to the hardware.
It's just going to fail as an alternative to the current systems as it provides no benefits over them.
