EDIT: Apparently they recanted the statement like 5 minutes later
Ethiopian airlines has had its fair share of accidents and hijackings. Despite this it's still one of the safest African airlines.

I can't hear anything
Its tower. They may have moved to a more secure line by now.
Any word on where they're seeking asylum from, and why?
“We will disembark our passengers within the next 5 minutes and we will call you back.” Heard over LiveATC. (10:13pm PST)
They happen to be landed.
What is america going to do about this?
The same thing Bosnia is going to do about it; fucking nothing. Unless a US ambassador or a really important US citizen is on that flight, it's not up to the US to do anything about it (unless the Swiss go all Rainbow Six and ask for help)
Geneva Airport now saying that police are still negotiating with hijackers. (10:32am)
Yeah what's going on, on that flight tracker website it's apparently still flying about, even though the altitude is 0 ft. They must be driving it down the freeway I guess.

It's on the ground, sourrounded, and the pilots bailed view cockpit windows. Everyone still inside and the police is negotiating with the hijackers

What if they blow themselves up?
As of 10:42pm, there are unconfirmed rumors there is a lone hijacker.
Geneva Airport Police confidently stating that no one has been hurt (10:45pm)

What everyone else in the world is doing right now.
Chewing their nails and hope they don't try anything.
ESPECIALLY NEAR SOCHI! God help everyone is it's headed for Sochi.
Swiss Authorities stating that they have arrested the hi-jacker (Watson.ch). Well that ended well. Phew
Being on a hijacked plane seems to be the worst. If you don't end up dying, you end up stuck on the plane for months until counterterrorists storm the plane because the terrorists have an extremely unreasonable demand
To make things even worse terrorists automatically win after 2 minutes in hostage rescue missions.

Only in office buildings when the FBI just teamflash each-other, but I have faith in Swiss authorities.

Unless the counter-terrorists grab one and add another minute. Then it's three minutes.
After some long silence on the ATC, looks like the planes are moving again.

or they take one and shoot the other so they don't have to worry about taking a group out
The hijacker was the copilot. He will be prosecuted.

at least they won't shoot the hostages, they need money for the next round
Yeah, it was a guy trying to get asylum from Switzerland. The plane was originally headed for italy.
Why did he not just go ask for asylum in Italy then instead of hijacking the plane? Really looks like one of these guys who's actually not threatened by anything, but just wants to leech of Swiss aid.
And now they're gonna give it to him, I'm sure. Switzerland just loves to grant criminals all kinds of luxuries.
