If we're running it like that I'm pretty pro-Israel and I think it's retarded that it didn't pass. A lot of people would of been either bought off or worried about the political ramifications needlessly when there are consequences to either decision. If it passed, construction of settlements would be beyond the governments control and although people in Israel would be pissy, there's nothing they could do but grow up. Only reason they do it is that right-wingers want it and just like a lot of policies political factions bring up, they need to be reminded that it's illegal and that they can't just do anything because they have power.
What if they made resolution to not do anything about Israeli settlements, and then made sure it got vetoed?

More like, if it would pass, nothing would change in Israel.

I really wish the UN had the balls to do something. Apparently this is just a resolution condemning them instead of actually doing something about it. For fucks sake they condemn cutting gay people's heads off, don't they have anything better?
What can they do but sanction? Anything else will require Israeli government support which, given the horribly fractured government populated by right-wing nutcases, isn't going to happen.
That's why there is a little thing called sanctions when diplomacy and condemnation do not work to pressure Israel to discontinue settlements illegal under international law.
But who the hell am I kidding, sanctions, Israel? Ha.

yeah you'd be a "crybaby" too if you had your homes taken, your people killed and your economy ruined
Good job America the only country that still stands for that a country should be able to defend itself.
