So all Sony's doing, really, is reassuring people their console will follow the same rules as last time? It's like they don't even have to do their own marketing, they just say they won't do whatever stupid feature the Xbox One does and they're all set.
So just like the Ps2 they happen to get lucky and accidently repeat history as they duplicate the success of the ps2 without even trying?
LOL left to game publishers so basically it will be exactly the same
LOL left to game publishers so basically it will be exactly the same
There's no built-in DRM, so I imagine we'll just be dealing with the same online pass shit publishers have already been using.
There's no built-in DRM, so I imagine we'll just be dealing with the same online pass shit publishers have already been using.
which EA is abandoning so we won't have to deal with it fuckin sony continuing to torpedo microsoft
There's no built-in DRM, so I imagine we'll just be dealing with the same online pass shit publishers have already been using.
Well, EA was the bad one about that really, and they've said they won't do that any more. Of course, when has EA ever been known to lie or go back on what they say?
This alone is enough to win me over. Honestly, Microsoft have been putting on a terrible show as far as the Xbone goes. Although the 360 has most of my games and I honestly do love that console, Sony is offering the better product so far. Marry me, Sony.
there's really no reason for the console manufacturers to implement their own DRM, that should be up to the publishers can't think of any reason why they would need to
Of course, the upside to the Xbox One system is that it behaves like Steam, once the game is tied to your account you don't need the disk to play it and can download it whenever. And you can still sell/give away your game if you don't want it anymore.
And you can still sell/give away your game if you don't want it anymore.
You'd have to be a master conman to sell a used Xbox one game :v:
You'd have to be a master conman to sell a used Xbox one game :v:
Or know 14 year olds whose parents don't keep check on what their kids spend their money on.
Maybe but don't be surprised if it is $750, €750 and £749.99
It is going to be at least $1000 in Sweden. (The PS4 that is) I'm sad.
there's really no reason for the console manufacturers to implement their own DRM, that should be up to the publishers can't think of any reason why they would need to
Of course there's a reason: Publishers tell them to, and manufacturers want a slice of that used game activation fee. It's fucking rediculous that in 2013 we have to throw a giant shitfit at the console manufactuers just so we can continue to pop in the disk for a game we own and play it with no bullshit.
it's what makes sense anyway, sony wins nor loses money at the sales of used games. consoles don't work under the same principle because it's far more natural for a consumer to share games than share the console where they play it on.
Xbox One is dead, nothing can save it now, not even the exclusives.
Xbox One is dead, nothing can save it now, not even the exclusives.
Unless that exclusive was Fuck Shit Up. With dynamic interactive yelling action.
Looks like I'm boarding this train then.
i honestly don't see too much of a problem with online passes most games run on servers that have to be paid for by publishers most retailers like gamestop will push the fuck out of used games and make you buy them instead, so all the profit goes to gamestop alone solution? make a 10 dollar fee to play online, to keep the servers running, and to give some more profit to publishers/developers
@ people who voted dumb why should you be allowed to play on their servers + receive their bug-fixing patches if you didn't provide just compensation?
@ people who voted dumb why should you be allowed to play on their servers + receive their bug-fixing patches if you didn't provide just compensation?
Generally if you have bought a console game used it means that the previous owner is no longer playing it. So when they sell their game, they are also effectively selling their multiplayer rights.
@ people who voted dumb why should you be allowed to play on their servers + receive their bug-fixing patches if you didn't provide just compensation?
Because that's what we've done on the PC since forever, unless it's like some large MMO thing. Why can't consoles do it?
I also don't like the required Kinect. I don't give a fuck about the KInect. If I ever get an Xboner, I'll tape the camera with electrical tape and then figure out how to plug the mic. All I need is a controller, not my hands and voice.
Why not just put it in cement? It would serve better as a paper weight then anyways.
I knew the PS4 was going to be great, and now this is awesome. Can't wait!
@ people who voted dumb why should you be allowed to play on their servers + receive their bug-fixing patches if you didn't provide just compensation?
Because this was obviously not a problem before and suddenly it is for some arbitrary reason.
Like I needed another reason to buy a PS4.
Now the PS4 just needs a solid line up of games and I'll be completely on board.
+1 reason Apparently PS4 will cost 349 US dollars and the Xboner will cost 399 US dollars. not absolutely sure.
Now the PS4 just needs a solid line up of games and I'll be completely on board.
This. I find it best to wait until there's a few games I want for a console before buying it.
servers cost more to run and the amount of players also put a burden on that cost
At least in the case of xbox, you're already paying for that via Xbox Live. Why you would have to pay even more kind of baffles me.
