While I'll never understand the American gun culture or condone it, a ban on guns (or whatever this bill targets) feels like an attempt to make a shortcut to less gun crime instead of dealing with underlying issues, such as poverty, lack of education and whatnot. Obama has done a good job at improving the health situation for many americans already, and I think he should focus more on bringing other kinds of basic societal needs up to standard, such as the school system.

For a topic that started off as "gun control" there seems to be a lot of derping about the civil war and slavery. So to get back to gun control.... If any president used an executive order to "ban" guns there would be hell to pay. It would be political suicide for his party. That president wouldn't be effective for the rest of his term (as no other politician would support him no matter how good his ideas were) And the real kicker? Gun control only affects law abiding citizens. Those derps shooting up places are not in that demographic.
