Biden: Obama Might Use Executive Order to Deal With Guns
The American economy imploded during the war. The currency had to be reissued (twice) due to hyperinflation. The US government was constantly short of funds, and the soldiers often went unpaid. Desertion and mutinies also occurred throughout the army. Food and supplies also had to be requisitioned from people to help maintain the army, and compensation usually wasn't given back.
Wasn't disputiung that, even though there wasn't really a U.S government established until the Articles of Confederation, and there wasn't a universal currency with the exception of gold, really.
Plus the French started sending over aid and supplies starting in 1776.
Yes but I'm talking about troops and ships.
Then what is your stance on gun ownership? You seem to be in every single gun debate on facepunch ever.
Well, I can tell you that my opinion on gun ownership is one that says to the people of the country that the legal ownership of guns is a thing that would be best reserved for the people of the country who may not usually not have legal permission not to discharge them.
Well, I can tell you that my opinion on gun ownership is one that says to the people of the country that the legal ownership of guns is a thing that would be best reserved for the people of the country who may not usually not have legal permission not to discharge them.
If you don't support this new AWB-similar ban then why did you rate it winner?
While I'll never understand the American gun culture or condone it, a ban on guns (or whatever this bill targets) feels like an attempt to make a shortcut to less gun crime instead of dealing with underlying issues, such as poverty, lack of education and whatnot. Obama has done a good job at improving the health situation for many americans already, and I think he should focus more on bringing other kinds of basic societal needs up to standard, such as the school system.

you're really really really grasping at straws aren't you
you're really really really grasping at straws aren't you
I'm not, I'm simply asking questions and observing my surroundings.
I'm not, I'm simply asking questions and observing my surroundings.
No, you're actually lying.
you're really really really grasping at straws aren't you
You know Sobotnik, due to your extensive evasiveness when asked this type question, i've come to the conclusion that in all actuality you don't give two shits about gun regulation or ownership, you just like to argue and stir the pot, and once in a while you pis someone off to the point that they debate you, and you argue, you dance and weave around them, striking at every key point and trying to poke holes in their defenses. This is because you have to be right, Period. You've got to be on top. You want to have that edge so you can confidently sit in your chair claden in your fedora and sweat pants gently fondling yourself while you cite and criticize everything they throw at you. Why are you like this Sobotnik, did your late uncle force himself on to you as you cried, did your grandpappy get a little too touchy feely as you were in his lap... were you... Hurt? Did you feel sexually released when you joined you're debate team, did you enjoy the domination, the total destruction as you ripped apart your opponents argument?
Perhaps my speculation is just that, speculation, but Sobotnik if, in fact I am right then you need to seek therapy, because this type of anger and angst can only lead to a destructive lifestyle and eventually... madness. Go out. Seek aid, you may need it.
At best, it'll put the dems on almost level ground with the GOP. Not destroy, though.
dems are already on level ground with the GOP you ninny
Well, I can tell you that my opinion on gun ownership is one that says to the people of the country that the legal ownership of guns is a thing that would be best reserved for the people of the country who may not usually not have legal permission not to discharge them.
I've known ppl with Down syndrome that can form a more coherent sentence then this.
For a topic that started off as "gun control" there seems to be a lot of derping about the civil war and slavery.
So to get back to gun control....
If any president used an executive order to "ban" guns there would be hell to pay. It would be political suicide for his party. That president wouldn't be effective for the rest of his term (as no other politician would support him no matter how good his ideas were)
And the real kicker? Gun control only affects law abiding citizens. Those derps shooting up places are not in that demographic.
I was under the impression that shooting firearms in a public place would land you in shit pretty fast.
Correct me then.
going apeshit in a the middle of a crowd with a gun is illegal, yes, and many cities forbid shooting within city limits, but the thing is about 99% of land in the US is perfectly legal to shoot on
dems are already on level ground with the GOP you ninny
I think it's clear that the Democrats have the upper hand in American politics today.
I think it's clear that the Democrats have the upper hand in American politics today.
gop controlled house is definitely not an upper hand for dems
gop controlled house is definitely not an upper hand for dems
They don't control it by much, the Senate is controlled by them and a dem president got reelected.
Is this what it's like being high?
A mixture of Model Glue, teenage angst and poor life choices will fuck you up.
They don't control it by much, the Senate is controlled by them and a dem president got reelected.
presidents almost always get reelected, that's not really an indication of power. off the top of my head I can only think of 7 times that the incumbent president lost
[editline]9th January 2013[/editline]
you made a big jump from shooting range to public place eh.
You can shoot all you want on private land and often in national parks. If your backyard is big enough and there's no issue stopping you have all the fun you want
the only reason I'm not allowed to shoot in my back yard is noise ordinances.
presidents almost always get reelected, that's not really an indication of power. off the top of my head I can only think of 7 times that the incumbent president lost
He's still the president and he's still a democrat.
The Senate is held by the democrats.
The republicans gained just about nill last election, barely holding on to what they already have.
I'm saying that gun ownership rates don't correlate with crime rates or political freedoms if that's what you are after?
Then by definition you are saying that more guns does not hurt things either. By extension, you therefore cannot claim that you want them restricted in any fashion greater than the present, or you admit to doing so for no logically coherent reason.

And I already said that.
You've also argued in favor of heavy restrictions in indirect and less than indirect phrases.
Make up your mind, or clearly state what the fuck you think, because nobody understands you. You're point of view is inconsistent as fuck, and I've lived with a bipolar schizophrenic.

Since when?
Well, I can tell you that my opinion on gun ownership is one that says to the people of the country that the legal ownership of guns is a thing that would be best reserved for the people of the country who may not usually not have legal permission not to discharge them.
Please, for the sake of all involved, just say what you mean concisely.
Please, for the sake of all involved, just say what you mean concisely.
Well I'm not for banning every gun.
Since when?
Do we really have to dig up these quotes again, only to have you whinge and nitpick about contexts that aren't relevant/may not exist?
It would be immeasurably to your credit if you at least acknowledged how ridiculously inconsistent/vague your statements are, as I, and several others have repeatedly have told you in the past.
Well I'm not for banning every gun.
Oh boy here we go again.
Non statement. Could mean literally anything. Will be claimed to mean anywhere from 2-50 different things in the next 10 pages by 15 different people.
~Kinda~ arguing is the best kind of argueing, but not really.

I just said I'm not strongly for the outright banning of guns.
Well I'm not for banning every gun.
Then what are you for?
Sounds like you just like to argue.
[editline]9th January 2013[/editline]
I just said I'm not strongly for the outright banning of guns.
Cool but this is saying nothing until you tell us exactly what you want banned.
Yeah can you just explain your opinions Sobotnik? They are very confusing.
I just said I'm not strongly for the outright banning of guns.
Just give a detailed description of what ought to be done with guns.
Not what you wouldn't do.
What you would do.
