Syria is about halfway down the list.
Point I am trying to make, is that arming people doesn't make them any less or more vulnerable to tyranny.
your point is stupid. if a population is armed, then they cannot be controlled as easily as a population that isn't armed. that's just logic
Dianne Feinstein's bill would ban:
http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/assault-weapons
"Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one or more military characteristics"
Well if you control the industry, you can control the production of guns and munitions. Consequently, you can choose which guns to produce.
So, you do support banning the public from having certain firearms via withholding sale of certain firearms to the public? Yes or no?
If yes, which guns?
"You couldn't own a gatling gun in that time period is my guess, and that's a big version of a machine gun."
Read.
Yeah, and your guess is worthless if it isn't true, and it's up to you to prove it. I know for a fact that Gatling Guns were privately built and sold. Richard Gatling built them without being under any military contract, he clearly must have owned them at some point.
Much less than you'd think
lol yeah ok how many non-millionaire presidents have there been again? how many incredibly wealthy lobbying groups are there affecting legislation?
"Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one or more military characteristics"
What's a "military characteristic"?
your point is stupid. if a population is armed, then they cannot be controlled as easily as a population that isn't armed. that's just logic
Logic? Can you explain why there isn't a correlation between Gun ownership rates and political freedoms in countries?
i've never actually seen a good and solid point for the 2nd amendment can anyone point me in the right direction
i've never actually seen a good and solid point for the 2nd amendment can anyone point me in the right direction
a different forum. Most people here live in the UK and are hardcore gun supporters.
i've never actually seen a good and solid point for the 2nd amendment can anyone point me in the right direction
If you've ignored everything pro-gun in the thread by now to ask that, you're just instigating argument and antagonizing people.
They didn't know assault rifles would exist. That's why new amendments are created.

even back then the concept was there, the only thing missing was the manufacturing technologies. The founding fathers knew this, and they wanted this.
besides that civillians were allowed to own cannons. a shot from a cannon can kill a lot more people than a shot from a little 5.56x45
In a post-Citizens United world where more money was funneled into elections across the board than ever before (state legislature, US congress, esp. Presidential race), I'd say the results speak for themselves
2012 came and went and the gov't didn't take the path Karl Rove and Friends™ wanted
I don't see what's wrong with millionaire presidents, and lobbying =/= corruption
well i guess i just don't see a huge difference between obama & pals and karl rove & friends

I'm not sure which guns in particular, but I would not be taken kindly to producing incendiary/explosive rounds or weaponry which resembled artillery more than firearms.

Do remember that one of those weapons was a financial failure, and building machines with intricate parts like that took until the 19th century before they became reliable for everyday use.
Many of those weapons you linked were unreliable or expensive.
those are already illegal for civilian ownership
Well those are among the few things I am 100% sure on banning if I owned the only firearms factories.
The USA isn't as spectacularly corrupt as you imagine it to be. Dictatorships have it difficult these days, due to how incompetent they actually are in comparison with democracy.

Tunisia has one of the lowest rates of gun ownership, yet still attained freedoms.
Tunisia is definitely not free. I don't know what you're talking about.

irrelevant, the concept was there and the same people who wrote up the 2nd amendment knew about them.
"we should abolish the 2nd amendment because it is old and was written by slave owners"
Tunisia is definitely not free. I don't know what you're talking about.
They had a revolution 2 years ago.
good point uzixxx

So, your only goal is to ban those that...are already banned. Excellent! That changes nothing then!
keep up the good work
keep up the good work
What are you doing
I can't quite remember who said this, but someone proposed that we should keep firearms out of the hands of minors and felons, as if they didn't already know that is already illegal.
Also for those who didn't know I was being sarcastic a few posts back.
They had a revolution 2 years ago.
Revolution doesn't imply freedom, Tunisia's leadership was replaced with less shit leadership.
So that bans Glocks and 1911s then, as well as many steel-framed, large-framed, and large-calibre handguns?
