What is it with apple and exploding/flammable shit?
What do you expect when you pay for crap? :D
Don't be afraid of them, these only burst into enormous flames only with heavy misuse. Most of the time when it overheats it will probably just start smoking and get hot, and in that case turn off the device and try to remove the battery immediately. If you're gonna threat them well and follow the guidelines included to them they should be fine.
Yeah, I would like to see somebody remove an iPhones battery quickly...
iPhone 4's battery's can be taken out in like 30 seconds if you have the right tool.
Engadget's jokes for this were dreadful:
It suffered only mild reception issues prior to its final collapse, and if faced with a similar situation, Siri reportedly stated that it would consult a therapist before discharging hot fury.

What is it with apple and exploding/flammable shit?
absolutely nothing, they just sell more units than everyone else so they also end up with a larger margin of errors/issues like this
I wonder what the macrumors guys have to say about this "Omg it's obviously a jailbroken phone!!!"
iPhone 4's battery's can be taken out in like 30 seconds if you have the right tool.
A hammer??
Funny how stuff like this only appears on a news site when it happens with an Apple product.
inb4 australia bans jokes.
Australia bans airplanes after apple sues Australian airline for setting their phone on fire.
Australia bans airplanes after apple sues Australian airline for setting their phone on fire.
I didn't expect this.
Well to be honesf. a few within millions is well within error rates you can't control.
But since when were error rates explosions and not just simply failing?
Can have our carbon nano tube batteries now scientists?

Looks like they took the advice
What if it was a bomb and they tried to blow up the plane?
Well, that could happen to any electronics that uses Li-Po batteries, since they're quite flammable. Look at this video: Don't be afraid of them, these only burst into enormous flames only with heavy misuse. Most of the time when it overheats it will probably just start smoking and get hot, and in that case turn off the device and try to remove the battery immediately. It will swell until its 3 times the original size, it will explode or burst and smoke comes out of it. So super cool fiery explosion though. Most devices that uses lipo has a special cutoff which will avoid this problem. But looks like apple's cut-off is failing.
Send the Apple executives to the Androidwitz gas chambers for this HORRBILE, piece of TERRIBLE engineering! Android master race! Heil google!
No, no, no, Apple is USSR, Microsoft is Nazi Germany, and Google (and HTC, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and etc.) are the Allies.
Funny how stuff like this only appears on a news site when it happens with an Apple product.
Are you suggesting that they are not all they are hyped up to be?
inb4 australia bans jokes.
They banned those jokes. [editline]29th November 2011[/editline]
What if it was a bomb and they tried to blow up the plane?
Apple, secretly a branch of Al-Qaeda.
Apple. Thinking outside of the box. And if it can't think itself out of the box, it burns its way out.
Feces can overheat? Huh...
Feces can overheat? Huh...
They might have a high heat tolerance but yes yes they can.
iPhone 4's battery's can be taken out in like 30 seconds if you have the right tool.
I only need one type of tool to remove the battery from my phone. My hands. See where I'm heading?
Someone tried to play tetris.
"It's a feature."
I guess we can agree on one thing: Thank fuck this didn't happen in America.
Australia bans ion batteries, forced to run on solar as we have so much fucking sunlight. Jesus christ.
Why don't the Australians set up a shitload of solar panels and sell off their surplus electricity to neighboring countries? Oh wait, it's because they're an island. tbh though I don't know how far you can run submarine power cables before significant problems begin to crop up.
