Why Not? For every god awful subreddit like the ones mentioned in this thread there is a couple of actually good ones which are completely maintained by the community
It's just that the weird subreddits attract more attention and it seems like they are the majority of the website

I am not saying it is. I totally agree that all those subreddits were absolutely horrible and should have never been creating

Well, its a single bad component that was community endorsed and condoned by its operators, so I'd say its pretty fair.

And judging by the response from the community, I'd say they do condone its existence and in many ways do endorse it.
