At this point I mostly just go to reddit for /r/darksouls. Everything else is just repetitive attempts at getting karma by posting "Funny" pictures. Not to say that it doesn't happen on darksouls as well but at least it isn't as bad.

/v/ seems to really hate it. I joined a WoW vanilla private server that was advertised on reddit; scriptcraft, and there were level 60s killing people in Un'Goro Crater for "being redditfags." they had an unnatural hate for a website.
I don't think the things being posted around some sub reddits was "child porn" (that's not to say they weren't in bad taste, which is far different) the mods let the communities get to the point they were. If they didn't want the media saying the things it had been saying about them, they should have done something about it a long time ago.
Taking down the sub reddits now is simply reactionary.
But whatever, it's Reddit. Who cares. That site is a wasteland.

Looks like to me you haven't been there. Most places are highly moderated besides /b/ and a few other places.
I vote we recycle the unused subreddit r/occupyreddit and use it as a "Make the administration do it's fucking job" reddit
I understand that's not the point of Occupy Wallstreet but it was the only protest-y name I can think of and nobody's using that subreddit anyway.

I just dislike reddit as it is shit I have seen 1000 times, composing of dumb cat pics, FAIL!, other meme shit, or obviously staged crap that is "LOL SO EPICZ!!!" They rarely contribute or make any content but they act like they are the main reason for it's success or try to take ownership of it, they do that all the time with shit from SA

From the reports I've read of the state of 4chan, destroying it would an act of mercy for all concerned-if it wasn't for the fact that the cancerous hordes of the unwashed that have reduced the site to it's current state would overflow onto every other imageboard and likely even hit FP.
So, as much as I'd like to see the site put out of it's misery, it just can't be done.
