You probably don't remember digg, reddit will follow the same path and reddit's successor
I've never used digg but I have heard of it many times, why will it?
It's pretty sad that those subreddits existed for that long. Even sadder that the site's co-owner hardly saw anything that was wrong with it.
he asked why people hate it
Woops, lost some context there, my bad
Still though, as far as I can tell more people hate Reddit for the stupid-ass community than the explicit content that gets posted there
Almost as bad as 9gag, the reason why I say almost is because of their amazing charity work.
reddit doesn't tag their shit with fucking watermarks though.
I was reading the SA thread and found a link to a subreddit that features dead children (no im not posting the link seriously its horrible)
...
Even worse, there's a variation on that subreddit for dead "jailbait"
No idea if that was taken down in this event but I certainly fucking hope so
[editline]9:29[/editline]
It's down, yet somehow the fucking dead kids subreddit lives on. Jesus Christ get it together Reddit staff
I enjoy browsing Reddit.
Morality argument shit-flinging aside, I agree with the move.
Certain sections of it are good, but honestly I can't stand the majority of it (i.e. every single front-page subreddit)
r/athiesm, pretty much the largest circlejerk on the internet, defaults to the front page on Reddit. That shit is just horrible.
That's why when you create an account you can filter out which subreddits you want to actually see on your front page and which ones you do not.
I guarantee that if you sign up and immediately remove r/politics and r/atheism from your subreddit subscriptions, your enjoyment of the site goes up about 200% (it worked with me).
Even worse, there's a variation on that subreddit for dead "jailbait"

i dont even know what they mean by "jailbait" but im not going to bother
i mean what the fuck, who spends their time searching pics like that and then sharing them?
Redditfags that obviously enjoyed delicious cheese pizza will probably start some shitty off shore area for people to fap over shit that used to exist, I can smell it
What is up with that dudes penis?
Hmm? What is he talking about, let me scroll up- HOLY SHIT WTF
Did the textbook makers do this on purpose?
what the fuck is wrong with sites nowadays
oify that is all
i dont even know what they mean by "jailbait" but im not going to bother

Jailbait means shit that if you are caught with it will lead you into a cold dark cell with some guy whose buff needing a new sweetheart from the ground up (see what I did there)
Hmm? What is he talking about, let me scroll up- HOLY SHIT WTF

They usually just start posting their content to other subreddits.
I remember the first time we got /r/jailbait taken down and mentioned on CNN, it is is for shutting down reddit I am all for it

if they shut down reddit theres a big chance a lot of redditors will come to facepunch so please dont shut down reddit
it isn't like people use one site or the other. they use both. have you read this forum at all??
I honestly have no idea what Reddit even is. I've never been there, done any research any to it, anything. What I know comes from the few people who have described it to me, with descriptions ranging from "Like Digg but worse" to "A cousin site to 4Chan" to "Independent News Site" and apparently now "Child Pornography Hub". I honestly have no clue what it is or how it works. I'd just like a concise description of it since I have no real desire to go there.

It's a news aggregator where users can upvote or downvote links. The more upvotes an link has, the higher up it will be on the site.
It's a news aggregator where users can upvote or downvote links. The more upvotes an link has, the higher up it will be on the site.
So it really is like Digg then?
I don't know what it is, but it seems that my brain can not actually wrap itself around a conversation juxtaposing phrases like "nigger jailbait" with rape denying and claims that reddit (an entity not covered by the first amendment, as it is not a representative of the US government) taking down what boils down to child/teen pornography sharing as violating the first amendment. I think this thread actually literally broke me.

it's basically 4chan with more sections
some sections are okay while others are disgusting
it's basically 4chan with more sections
So it really is like Digg then?
It is like what digg was before the v4 update, which turned digg into a glorified CSS feed.

Ha, oh wow.
"I have an interest in history and it greatly saddens me when I see such reckless disregard for data, records and culture."
They aren't pedos anymore, they're internet historians looking for historic photos of naked children.
I seriously don't get how those were allowed to exist in the first place.
Reddit is a website where each user can either upvote or downvote other people's submissions. As a result, interesting things are brought up to the top (front page) while stupid things naturally get filtered out by downvotes.
It also has subreddits, which any user can start, which are basically like the subsections on facepunch (fast threads, videos, video game discussion). Those subreddits are monitored by the people who create them, and anyone that they might appoint to be a mod. Every subreddit has their own distinct set of rules, from complete anarchy to extremely moderated sections where shitposts will get your comments deleted.
You know what fuck it, just visit the damn thing for 5 minutes and you'll figure it all out. It's pretty straightforward.

AFAIK reddit has a lot of corrupt administrators
visible breasts/genitalia =/= pornography
this was already discussed
Most child porn cases are handled at the state level
For example this is the Texas child porn statute:
Sec. 43.26. POSSESSION OR PROMOTION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY. (a) A person commits an offense if:
(1) the person knowingly or intentionally possesses visual material that visually depicts a child younger than 18 years of age at the time the image of the child was made who is engaging in sexual conduct; and
(2) the person knows that the material depicts the child as described by Subdivision (1).
(b) In this section:
(1) "Promote" has the meaning assigned by Section 43.25.
(2) "Sexual conduct" has the meaning assigned by Section 43.25.
[punishments of this and following statutes removed for irrelevance]
It directs us to another statute for the definition, so here is the statute.
Sec. 43.25. SEXUAL PERFORMANCE BY A CHILD. (a) In this section:
(1) "Sexual performance" means any performance or part thereof that includes sexual conduct by a child younger than 18 years of age.
(2) "Sexual conduct" means sexual contact, actual or simulated sexual intercourse, deviate sexual intercourse, sexual bestiality, masturbation, sado-masochistic abuse, or lewd exhibition of the genitals, the anus, or any portion of the female breast below the top of the areola.
Before we move on, lets read the definitions of this chapter of the penal code, but note the use of the word 'lewd' in the second statute as it is very important as I'm about to explain.
Sec. 43.01. DEFINITIONS. In this subchapter:
(1) "Deviate sexual intercourse" means any contact between the genitals of one person and the mouth or anus of another person.
(2) "Prostitution" means the offense defined in Section 43.02.
(3) "Sexual contact" means any touching of the anus, breast, or any part of the genitals of another person with intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person.
(4) "Sexual conduct" includes deviate sexual intercourse, sexual contact, and sexual intercourse.
(5) "Sexual intercourse" means any penetration of the female sex organ by the male sex organ.
Now the use of the word 'lewd'; this is very important legally because it's not defined in ether statute or the definitions for this penal code chapter; most people assume this means it's up to the court to decide what is lewd, and what is not; simply because it isn't defined in this chapter; however, this is incorrect, for lewdness is actually defined by Texas Law, which takes us to the Public Lewdness statute.
Sec. 21.07. PUBLIC LEWDNESS. (a) A person commits an offense if he knowingly engages in any of the following acts in a public place or, if not in a public place, he is reckless about whether another is present who will be offended or alarmed by his:
(1) act of sexual intercourse;
(2) act of deviate sexual intercourse;
(3) act of sexual contact; or
(4) act involving contact between the person's mouth or genitals and the anus or genitals of an animal or fowl.
The definitions of this section is the following:
Sec. 21.01. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter:
(1) "Deviate sexual intercourse" means:
(A) any contact between any part of the genitals of one person and the mouth or anus of another person; or
(B) the penetration of the genitals or the anus of another person with an object.
(2) "Sexual contact" means, except as provided by Section 21.11, any touching of the anus, breast, or any part of the genitals of another person with intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person.

(3) "Sexual intercourse" means any penetration of the female sex organ by the male sex organ.
Despite the fact it defines public lewdness, this is still the only part of the penal code which defines lewdness it self, which is what the above two statutes must be held to.
So as a result; as long as the person in the video recording isn't groping or being groped, masturbating, cutting his/or her self, or just plain having sex, it should be legal under the laws of the state of Texas.
