Child pornography is a constitutional right? I was always under the impression it was illegal. Oops.
So it really is like Digg then?
Yeah. This was one of their april fool's day jokes
It is like digg before the v4 update, which turned digg into a glorified CSS feed.
I haven't been to Digg in years so I have no idea. Honestly, my internet browsing habits have dwindled down to just a few sites in the past couple of years. Its basically Facepunch is 90% of my time, 3% goes to Facebook, 3% goes to webcomics, 3% goes to Youtube and Pandora, and 1% goes to everything else. After so long online, the internet has really lost its appeal to me.
Reddit is a website where each user can either upvote or downvote other people's submissions. As a result, interesting things are brought up to the top (front page) while stupid things naturally get filtered out by downvotes.
It also has subreddits, which any user can start, which are basically like the subsections on facepunch (fast threads, videos, video game discussion). Those subreddits are monitored by the people who create them, and anyone that they might appoint to be a mod. Every subreddit has their own distinct set of rules, from complete anarchy to extremely moderated sections where shitposts will get your comments deleted.
You know what fuck it, just visit the damn thing for 5 minutes and you'll figure it all out. It's pretty straightforward.

Hahahaha. Ohman, that isn't the case at all. Have you seen some of the stuff that gets to the frontpage?

Wow your opinion differs from that of the mass mob that is the majority of the world
congratulations we applaud you
stop acting like a wiseass, what I said is a basic description of the website, obviously you're not going to like every single thing that gets to the front page
Most child porn cases are handled at the state level
Hmm, I'd image it would be a Federal issue, especially because the FBI seems to have several statutes based on it and other issues of child exploitation.

Back in August 2010, owner Kevin Rose thought it was a good idea to re-write the site's code. He finished the site update (which was the v4 of the site), and the update ended up having ads from all walks of life being posted on the site instead of actual articles.
The users had an uprising over the poor handling of the situation and the majority fled to reddit (myself included).
Reddit doesn't moderate its subreddits.
So you can make any subreddit and nobody will give a shit what happens in it.
AFAIK reddit has a lot of corrupt administrators
one of them is called violentacrez and along with his fetish for dead children he has publicly admitted to having sex with his stepdaughter

the internet really does bring out the best of people

that's a terrible fucking idea
one of them is called violentacrez and along with his fetish for dead children he has publicly admitted to having sex with his stepdaughter
Seriously? Can't say I'm unhappy that I've missed the reddit party so far.
the internet really does bring out the best of people
he also has a son who I feel sorry for almost as much as the stepdaughter
Reddit has corrupt moderators because they are users. The people that made the website rarely moderate the forums. Moderation is left to the people that created the subreddit. So obviously there's going to be a bit of corruption.
Why should one moderator's private life have any bearing on his moderating skills?
he also has a son who I feel sorry for almost as much as the stepdaughter
Part of me is curious as to why, and the other part is trying to strangle my curious part.

and logically the person who owns the fucking site should change that
Part of me is curious as to why, and the other part is trying to strangle my curious part.
well the son did an AMA (Ask Me Anything thread) and he talked about how his dad will be having sex with prostitutes in front of him and shit

I'm sorry, it was meant to be a joke. The "does anyone else remember SMB3" posts and "DAE like Steam" posts have been bothering me a lot lately.
Why should one moderator's private life have any bearing on his moderating skills?
It shows a severe absence of any sort of ethics and regard for others, two qualities that are highly valuable in virtually every field.

They're going... right? RIGHT????
I'm sure those are sarcastic, But saying Child Pornography is free speech is like saying Brandishing an assault rifle in an elementary school is your right to bear arms.
Why should one moderator's private life have any bearing on his moderating skills?
The parts of his private life that were mentioned were in some way related to this Reddit stuff?
I may be participating in this.
well the son did an AMA (Ask Me Anything thread) and he talked about how his dad will be having sex with prostitutes in front of him and shit
Hmm. Good father obviously. And how has this man not been imprisoned?
one of them is called violentacrez and along with his fetish for dead children he has publicly admitted to having sex with his stepdaughter
uhhh
are you sure you aren't thinking of a subreddit moderator? Because moderators on reddit are way different than admins
admins are the site staff who do the actual manual running of the site
subreddit moderators are chosen by users or appointed by the creator of a subreddit and have no power outside of that subreddit
there are a lot of shitty moderators in some subreddits but the admins are all actual employees of reddit inc.
I enjoy the stories on Reddit (AMA and AskReddit) and the occasional cool picture, but mostly I stick to Facepunch.

The FBI is usually mandated to keep the fuck out unless the person physically crossed state lines.
