Reverting back to Lira would be for us the very last nail on the coffin.
Heil Grillo!

It's hard to get involved in this conversation, being a Brit and very much wanting to keep the Pound. Why don't we just change all the Euro names to their pre-Euro names but keep the value the same? You know, the European Pound, the European Lira, the European Franc, whatever. International economics is tricky.
Considering that Berlosconi still has any kind of power just amazes me, Coming from an outside view with dim knowledge of the Italian system
The issue is that Berlusconi is a wealthy man that owns basically nearly every media business in Italy, his elections run on manipulation, bribery and corrpution. But there are also still some people who think that he is a great politician, what the hell?

I always wondered why the world couldn't keep the name and design of their currency, but make it all worth the same. Of course, that wouldn't work because each country has a different amount of money in circulation along with the fact that currency trading is a very lucrative enterprise.

Grillo was the guy who said Italy would need to build "several nuclear powerplants" to make up for people buying electronics with a stand-by LED light.
But it's not like he meant that to actually have them built up, he said that to condemn electric power wasting. I'm not too fond of Grillo either but let's be clear about some things, eh?
I am so fucking ashamed of my country for voting for that clown.
Better a clown in power than a pedophile.
i like lira, sounds better than EURO.
also francs and deautchmarks are better too.
When I was in Italy they still used the Lira and before I left they were just beginning the transition to the EURO. The conversion rate was pretty good too, up-till the whole euro deal went though. Then it kinda sank.
yeah the french pronounce it "Urghh oh" which is kind of appropriate :v:
As a former Italian ashamed of his country, going back to using the lira won't give us an advantage. It'll show that we keep going back. Currently none of our parties represent a way out of this crisis: Bersani's and Berlusconi's had the most votes, after Bersani always told a bunch unkept promises, and Berlusconi stuck his dung up our bums. Beppe Grillo's party isn't any better, but as it's new, it represents a small hope of change, though we'd still be hanging by a hair's breadth.
The only advantage of lira was that every Italian could brag that they were a millionaire.

No he wasn't running for anything back then if I recall, but it was pure horseshit either way.
Let's not forget other great stuff he has said, such as:
-The mafia doesn't kill it's clients (which they do, all the time, unless you do everything you're told).
-AIDS/HIV is "the biggest scam of the century" and doesn't exist
-Various babbling about screening, diagnosis and prevention being useless, together with doctors.
And a few more, not even following closely. He's Tea Party-tier.
