who wants to make a youtube clone that doesn't suck dick???
You'd need a lot of money behind you because servers ain't cheap.
I am currently donating to RegularCarReviews and ForgottenWeapons' Patreons. No way am I letting my favorite channels go down.
A one dollar donation even one time is probably more than any amount of ad revenue you'd be giving them anyways. Patreon is a pretty excellent way to support creators.
how about you let the individual advertisers that buy youtube ad slots decide if they want their ads to be on obscenely vulgar videos?
That's not going to be feasible for 90% of content creators.
This was a known problem all along. YouTube is a shit marketplace, where you are completely at the whim of Google to strip away your ad revenue at any time. I don't blame the advertisers at all either. I wouldn't want my products advertised on some borderline racist or facist channel.
Oh no people have to get real jobs instead of making money off of horrible videos :-(
Oh no people have to get real jobs instead of making money off of horrible videos :-(
That's a pretty stark generalization, don't you think? There are some excellent content creators that couldn't do what they do without the advertising money they receive.
If the advertisers are upset about being associated with crappy videos does that mean that those videos won't have advertisements shown?
If the adverts continue to be shown on those videos but with no ad revenue going to the content creator then its a bit of a dick move.

Heaven forbid people find a way to use their natural talents to entertain others for a living. I guess we should all just go back to work in the salt mines then?
Oh no people have to get real jobs instead of making money off of horrible videos :-(
Yeah fuck those people turning their hobby into a career. How dare they make their job something they love doing!
Oh no people have to get real jobs
Ha, I was coming here to say pretty much the exact same thing.
Funny how much these people are crying because they have to go find actual work instead of being clowns on the internet.

Okay, what do you define as "actual work" then? Something that's indispensable for the survival of our species? Because that's a rather small part of the working population.

Being a youtuber really isn't work no matter how much they preach that it is, anybody can record themselves then edit a video and click upload, try working a 12 hour shift in a warehouse where you're constantly on your feet and have a 45 minute lunch break, that's work.
Being a youtuber really isn't work no matter how much they preach that it is, anybody can record themselves then edit a video and click upload.
That is true, but it's a skill and practice to make decent content
I know a Youtuber personally. He works 17+ hours recording then editing content daily and has been doing it for two years , rarely taking a day off. He reached 230,000 subscribers a few days ago. What your saying is bullshit about it "really isn't work"

Thank you for cutting this discussion short by letting us know you have no idea what you're talking about.
Rich of ReviewTechUSA reports the issue with chill

BTW, I think the thread title is slightly misleading, I thought the news was about blocking ads on videos entirely when I first saw it.

So the entire industry of entertainment isn't considered "actual work" and everyone involved deserves to have their pay stripped from them because they don't have "real jobs".

Dense? Ok!
Being a youtuber is not work and it's that simple, I do it myself, it's passive income - it's so easy it's not even funny, if you think youtube is work then you live an easy, easy life.
Being a youtuber really isn't work no matter how much they preach that it is, anybody can record themselves then edit a video and click upload, try working a 12 hour shift in a warehouse where you're constantly on your feet and have a 45 minute lunch break, that's work.
How about an office job, 8 hour shift, sitting on a chair in front of a desk doing paperwork every now and then? Apparently, that's work too. And it pays either fuck all or a shit ton depending on where you work and what your position is.
Also, the show industry is still a thing. Is being an actor not a real job?

If "anybody" can do it, then why don't you? Wouldn't you rather be making millions of dollars posting youtube videos than doing hard physical labor 12 hours a day?
I mean wow, you just said yourself that there's an incredibly easy way to make a living where you have to do NO work. Why isn't everyone doing this?
Being a youtuber really isn't work no matter how much they preach that it is, anybody can record themselves then edit a video and click upload, try working a 12 hour shift in a warehouse where you're constantly on your feet and have a 45 minute lunch break, that's work.
so an office job is not work?
and if anyone can do it why are you not jumping on the youtube gravy train if it's so easy

Ok mate!
Kids these days have no idea what work actually is, ha.
Edit: What i'll do is keep making a few hundred pound a month on my video's (which were easy as fuck to make and upload by the way) while working an actual real job, yawn.

does it really matter what people do to get their living?
is it illegal?? no? who cares?

So teachers, IT, office jobs, game devs, software devs, or any of the other jobs aren't work according to you?
Hell, I'm sitting at a desk right now getting paid $7.25 to essentially just be on the internet because it's stupid slow today, are you saying that I don't have a job?
haha yeah fuck this guys for wanting to get "paid" for their free content I've been watching for yeaaaaars, time for them to get a real job!
Ok mate!

We're living in a highly automated society. It'll only get harder to get physical (which, by the way, isn't the only form of work) AND more technical work from here, as machines can do the same thing but more safely and efficiently. Welcome to the future. What they can't do (yet), is being human. We're good at that.

How about showing some proof of that?
what up my channel is not in trouble I've been family friendly from the start
I mean sure people like leafy who make zero effort videos aren't doing real work and I'm extremely butthurt about that due to my struggle to find any sort of employment for the past 4 months, but I'm not butthurt enough to claim everyone who's primary source of income is Youtube doesn't have a real job. Hell, if I didn't have a terrible monotone voice that would put everyone to sleep I'd probably make my own channel.
