Your profile says you're 26 what the fuck do you know and where do you get off calling other people kids, most big youtubers are as old or older than you.
Jealousy much?
As someone who has a 'real job', it's utterly disgusting how many people think that making content is 'not a real job'. Do you know how many times it comes up that a particular youtuber or group has helped people, even unintentionally? Most bigger channels have inclusive groups that foster healthy discussion and are inclusive of, well people generally considered outcasts. That alone feels to me more important than a lot of 'real' jobs, hell, it even happened to me. I discovered the Super Best Friends during a really, really bad part of my life and it was always good to go home and have a couple of their videos just waiting for me.
Knowing that their livelihood is under threat because of bullshit rules like these is disgusting
It's weird to think that Pornhub might actually be our only hope. They seem to have an infrastructure that could support massive amounts of videos.
Remember when youtube was actually pretty good...? I don't think it was ever good after google bought it.
tbh im fine with some stuff in the list, but no bad words and no controversial/news subjects crosses too many boundaries
youtube can easily censor whatever it wants with those rules, when you have shit like GamerGate going on where people can trash the entire movement even though they were proven that game journos did what they did then its hard not to believe youtube will abuse that power

Edit: What i'll do is keep making a few hundred pound a month on my video's (which were easy as fuck to make and upload by the way) while working an actual real job, yawn.
Is this you? The account has the same spacing, camel casing, etc.

Looks like it'd be pretty hard to get a few hundred pounds a month from your videos with only 10 subscribers
Youtube wants to be taken seriously as an entertainment platform, producing tv-quality content, I think.

"I should be allowed the fruits of my enterprise"
Just like an advertiser should be allowed to decide where his money goes.

Advertisement agencies opting out of videos with mature subject matter=/= censorship. Nothing gets taken down or omitted.
YouTube isn't giving advertisers a choice though. Apparently there's no option to say I'm OK advertising that kind of content.

But i can go to HBO right now and see tits and fuck shit damn.

I might've interpreted wrong, but Ethan explains in the h3h3 video on this topic that advertisers can opt in to advertise on content like that. That's why sometimes people just recieve less revenue and the notification says it isn't "ad-friendly", because there are companies that have opted in, but like Ethan said not a lot of people are going to tick the "allow my ads to be shown on videos with rape" box.

HBO also receives direct sponsorships.

Only premium brands can offer premium services. Even the name YouTube is a joke in comparison.
I mean, I've been there since the beginning, but let's be real here.

But most shows on TV suck.

Don't worry. Greed gets to everyone. They won't give two shits where their ads are displayed when they see their profits drop and Youtube will change the TOS again
Maybe people wouldn't complain so much about making Youtube videos now being a real job if Youtube itself didn't encourage video creators to make long, drawn out videos instead of short but sweet stuff with a lot of effort put into it.
Still, this stuff is pretty terrible. How did they look at this without thinking "Yeah, this totally fucks over loads of popular Youtubers, including the biggest one in here."
Google/Youtube wants to attract advertising money, that's it, that's what they care about. Otherwise the money supply dries up. So Google doesn't care who this fucks over. All they need is for the content creators who want to share in the advertising money to do what they're told.
Look at it this way, if they kept the top Youtube channels happy and lost advertisers, they'd have 100% of nothing. If they cater to the advertisers but lose all the top Youtube channels, they get 100% of something.

Yeah, except Youtube is (was?) a platform for anyone, ranging from amateur vloggers to professional film makers.
Trying to ape an outdated and restrictive medium is backwards, if that's really what they're aiming for.

Why exactly does an amateur vlogger need to make bank in ad revenue?
Why exactly does an amateur vlogger need to make bank in ad revenue?
If they deliver entertaining content and draw in a lot of views, why not?

Why SHOULDNT they.

But I mean, this only truly affects people who rely on Youtube for their livelihood. If you're an amateur vlogger, you can easily not include tags like "rape, death, destruction, abortion" if you wanted to get that $100 cheque quicker than if you had included those tags. If you rely on your channel's ad revenue for your livelihood, you're not just an amateur vlogger.

I still can't believe they would treat their community like this. You spend all these years trying to create one of the brightest and most creative communities on the internet, just to basically shit all over them because advertisers aren't happy. They were so many ways the YouTube team could've handled this, and they quite possibly chose the worst path.
I hope a competitor comes along soon. I wanna see YouTube squirm for what it's done.
Everyone is saying advertisers should have choice, but what about youtube red subscribers?
What makes me wonder is, if my video is something that goes against the rules of what you can have in the title, like you're reporting something about a mass flood, then how are you suppose to word it, or even show it in the thumbnail.
Do you have to make a misleading title and thumbnail on purpose to get monetizing or will you just have to do everything for free?
How is not being able to properly express what the video is about any more advertisement friendly?
It just doesn't make any sense to me.

why are you being so vindictive and jealous over people that got a lucky break and are making money through something they enjoy that you think they deserve to lose their livelihood
like they're still people. with fears and money problems. people that depend on them and people they depend on, or does that not count unless they're working a retail job they hate like most people
You know what's really ironic about those people coming in being like "nut a reel jub!"? They are saying it on Facepunch. A site created by a dude who literally turned his hobby into a job.

Besides, it's such an "old geezer" thing to say. "making videos for teh youtoobz is not a real job, hurr durr" is something my dad, a bitter old fuck, would say.

Shying away from "sensitive" and "controversial" topics is going to do the opposite, if anything.
