Passenger refuses body scan & pat down- records incident on phone.

I don't blame him, honestly. I wouldn't want to be subjected to that level of modesty in a public place, even if only security people can see it. Nor would I want to be patted down when almost everyone else is going through the metal detector. Unless there's a sound logical reason why I should be patted down (i.e. a bulge in my clothing that resembles a firearm or bomb or something, metal detector continually going off, etc) there's no reason to be patted down OR xrayed.
besides the shit I've been hearing about those xrays is fucking scary.
I'd probably leave the plane and demand a refund and compensation for getting fucked over.
Why would you go through the scanners, and then leave the plane and get a refund?
You get scanned before you go on the plane, not when you get off.
You do realize they only pat downs if you fail multiple metal detector tests?
Can you read? He didn't even get to go through the metal detector. They pulled him away and asked if he wanted to use the xray thing he said no so they took him to be patted down.
I don't get what the problem is. The scans make it easier to tell if someone's hiding a weapon. And I can't imagine that anyone would look at this:
[img_thumb]http://cityofatlantic.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/tsa-body-scan.jpg[/img_thumb]
and feel aroused.
I wouldn't feel violated by a body scan if the image turned out like that.
What I don't like is that the images are stored. If they were saved in volatile memory and wiped at the end of the day I'd be more okay with it. (But not entirely)
Fuck this guys right to privacy. Seriously. Fuck it.
What about the right to safety EVERY other passenger on that plane has. Do we just put up with the occasional pants bomb because some douche doesn't want his junk touched or an xray taken. Sometimes you have to weigh civil rights against one another, and in this case his side comes up a long long way short of the post.

Yeah, and he got the pat down because he refused the machine, if you don't want to be touched, cooperate with officials.

Why though? I mean are you afraid that somebody will hack into the tsa, sort out millions of images to find yours, and post a grainy, piss poor resolution of a sort of naked you on facebook?
Yeah, and he got the pat down because he refused the machine, if you don't want to be touched, cooperate with officials.
The machines are dangerous. There's no reason he couldn't use the fucking metal detector like everyone else

The system has worked just fine before these stupid xray machines. It's been 9 years since the last 'terrorist act' with a plane.

Odd, for a nation so entrenched in civil rights, free speech, they are more than willing to give up others for air travel.
What a joke that is. We grow up in an age of fear.
It used to be air safety in regards to the planes themselves - not anymore.

Too bad the x ray scanners aren't dangerous.

If a suicide bomber came into an airport, tons of people would die anyway.
If you need to dig in someone's ass, it's a sign your tech is shit.

You missed the guy trying to blow himself up on Christmas Day 2009?
They would have to touch his groin because of the failed suicide bombing attempt on the Detroit airport Christmas day. Guy had a bomb in his underwear so now they check underwear.

So you're saying that we just scrap this and put up with the occasional underwear bomb?
Guy had a bomb in his underwear so now they check underwear.
The next step is to actually stick explosives in a cavity. No seriously.
And no "full body scan" or pat down will ever help.

No, but full body scans are not the answer. They're barely effective anyway.

Your right why even bother with better safety procedures.

No fucking way am I going through that thing.
Your right why even bother with better safety procedures.
You have no idea do you.
A chemical test would be way more effective than a full body scan. If you've handled explosives in the past few days, a chemical test would show up positive.

Gloves man
Every god damn time I try and type something to post for this thread, I get a massive fucking headache and I want to break my fucking keyboard. People like this guy piss me the hell off, and the people in this thread defending him or bitching about the body scanners piss me off. I just got back from a week long trip I didn't really want to go on and spent eight hours in flight dealing with the most annoying people ever. I had to deal with these things and I didn't give a fuck. I don't care that some random TSA jackass might have seen my dick. I don't know them, and I'm not so overly fucking proud that I care if they see it. You know, I might have a problem if it were my sister or my grandmother, but even then I'm not going to be an ass to the people doing their jobs and trying to make shit a little safer for everyone.
And don't give me that shit about "Those who would give up a little freedom for a little security deserve neither freedom nor security." bullshit. That was 200 years ago when the concept of an airplane would have had you ridiculed by everyone and their dog. But more importantly, the concept is both naive and ridiculous. We give up a little freedom when we put up doors and walls. We give up a little freedom with laws against drinking and driving. You can not have unlimited freedom and still maintain society. It is better to lose a little now but keep a lot in the long run than keep everything now, but lose most of it later.
Would you rather that people be allowed to drive while drunk or not. On the one hand, you have the freedom to drink freely and drive yourself around but run the risk of killing innocent people. On the other, you can't drink and still drive freely, but now a family returning home from dinner with the grandparents gets to live and see tomorrow and you can always drink tomorrow. Your choice. Freedom or Security.

If you had the explosives on you it would show up. There are very effective chemical scan machines nowadays, which don't require those swab things.

They are already installing chemical sniffers to detect explosives. The only problem is that the current models can be triggered by cured meats, such as salami and pepperoni; due to the nitrates.
Who gives a fuck if you're naked. I'm pretty sure you don't care when it's with a girl you love.
Unless the police force you to get naked infront of them, I don't see the similarity.

Well considering it's my identity, yeah. I don't trust just anyone with it, least of all the TSA.
If Canada starts using these things widespread I'm going to be pissed (and evac the country through an airport that doesn't use them)

Haha
Even so, it's more effective than the full body scanner that can't detect if something has been ingested etc.
These devices are here to make sure the plane isn't involved in an terrorist threat that will probably cause my death, it's only logical that I refuse to partake in their use.
You have no idea do you.

There are more than enough explosives that don't show up with chemical tests and can't even be found with sniffer dogs. And what if they haven't handled the explosives. What if ( and it is a longshot ) they didn't assemble the bomb or even strap it on themselves. And the people who have fired guns in the past few days can all just get the full anal probe I suppose when they all come up positive.

Why would ANYONE risk jail-time to post a SHITTY picture of someone else naked
