What the fuck is this shit.
My authority is that those who make blanket statements about genres are dumb, if you disagree with me on that, you are dumb. You generally don't like electronic music? Fine. Don't go saying it is all the same.
It explains why he hates electronic music since Verdicardi was extremely against all synthesised music and made his thoughts pretty clear.
Calling someone dumb for making a dumb statement does not equate to losing an argument. I would gladly debate anyone who actually brought up points that made sense, regrettably I shouldn't have called thisispain ignorant because he isn't, but RoadOfGirl literally just said one of the most nonsensical things I have ever heard about music.
Right back at you, buddy.
[editline]17th April 2013[/editline]
Good for you. Now what about the people who don't want their music stolen?
Lol actually I really love electronic music, anyone who knows me would tell you that, but here is the actual problem going on:
Literally your whole argument here is built off assumptions you've made which were never enunciated. Noone said that electronic music was all the same, and noone was making any blanket statements about the EDM genre. Those are basically things that you've decided to go on a warpath about without actually verifying what was being said in the first place.
Also no, it doesn't explain that post, because nowhere in roadofgirl's original post did he ever state or even imply that he hated electronic music. In fact the post was generally well reasoned and showed more knowledge of how EDM is constructed musically than you have bothered showing in this entire thread. Again, you have looked at his post and made some pretty wild assumptions about what's he saying without thinking to verify.
This is why your argument isn't a fair or well-reasoned one. Because you've come in and called everyone a bunch of dumb idiots, said that "this is the most idiotic thing about music I've ever read", and then basically responded by saying "I'm calling this guy stupid because he is stupid, I don't need to prove that he's stupid, his post makes no sense to me, anyone here who knows music will agree with me". None of this proves you right - it just proves you're being incredibly lazy and downright abusive to people who are just as passionate, if not more passionate, about music than you.
So if you're happy to be to abusive to people who are basically your peers, who love music and are passionate about music then that's it from me
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sampling_(music)
[sp]I didn't bother to listen to all the songs posted, so I don't really know to what extant these "ripoffs" go, but sampling is a very common situation in todays music, especially so in hiphop, rap, and electronic musics.[/sp]

Roadofgirl aka Vedicardi has already said in other threads that he hates electronic music. It is clear that his grossly oversimplified view of the EDM is due to his hatred of the genre since if he bothered to listen to it at all he would realise this is not always the case.

I already proved he was wrong by posting that link to the youtube video. That alone proves that not all EDM is made up of a single chord, lacking of musical qualities. Whether or not he likes the song, his point is invalid.
let's all go listen to some plunderphonics

it's hard to bump, grind, and ponder the meaning of abstract metaphor simultaneously
I thought they were going to just sound alike, but they're identical.

have read whole thread stop trying man because you are still making the wrong assumptions and reading the posts wrong
furthermore the point he made is unrelated to his taste, they are not associated i the slightest, stop using personal taste as a bludgeon
you didnt prove much because it was never intended to be read as a concrete rule - but its the foundation upon which EDM is built and one song does not disprove that nor does trance as a genre
you'd also have to be pretty damn ignorant of music to assume that just because something is made up of a single chord it has no musical quality- if thats your opinion then maybe you need to read up a bit more
but whatever man not my problem if you flip a shit over interpretation - have a good one, keep rockin, etc
A) All Indie rock is dumb people singing about coffee
B) I don't like indie rock
Which one is just personal taste and which one is trying to say an entire genre is shit based on a falsity? I honestly can't believe you don't see the difference.

EDM is a label. Just because some songs are simple it does not mean all EDM songs are simple.

Where did I say that? It's clear his statements against it were not only false but he was using it as a way to question the musical qualities of EDM by suggesting only people without knowledge of music theory would be against the notion it is bad.
i'm sure will.i.am has given money to the artists hes used music from and changed up a little.
and if i am right they're getting monies
if i'm wrong and hes stealing with out them knowing i hope he rots.
My girlfriend and her family watch The Voice UK and I seen it a few times.
Will.I.Am actually seems like a pretty cool dude and hes pretty funny on the show, but this made me loose a lot of respect for him.
Thought It said IDM, was disappointed.
God I remember when Black Eyed Peas didn't have a "The" at the start and sounded a like a New Age De La Soul. I mean they genuinely had some smart lyrical content and any sampling was well implemented.
I like how the like:dislike ratio on the video is like 1:20 :v:
Too bad nothing's going to happen... Will.i.am is just going to say "omg sampling11!!1!!" and that will be the end of it.
Sampling does exist yes, but I'm sure credit needs to be given where credit is due, especially when you're literally ripping the song exactly how it is and making money off of it.

another horrible ripoff example where timbaland got off free with the "sampling" argument
you can't trust these. like:
Pitbull
Flo-Rida
Will.i.am
One direction
because those are the main artists/groups that acting like snitches and ripping popular music
What a quality post from a quality member /sarcasm
What you just said is one of the most idiotic and ignorant things I have ever heard said about music. I actually don't think you have ever listened to a song that can be classified as EDM to be honest.
Explain how.
I never said it was.
Who owns the original? Anjunabeats. Who did Will.I.Am never approach for permission to use their copyrighted material in a commercial work? Anjunabeats.
do you know for a fact that he owns the originals or are you guessing. do you know what a master recording is?

Your definitions of ripoff and original shit are getting mixed up.
not gonna criticize this song on the grounds its stealing or whatever
gonna criticize it on the grounds that its total wank
not gonna criticize this song on the grounds its stealing or whatever

The only one of those artists he listed that's stolen is Will.i.am, the rest of them make their own work.
Flo-Rida and Pitbull are questionable, but I haven't seen any evidence of them stealing.
[editline]17th April 2013[/editline]
and One Direction are just collectively terrible to anyone that isn't a tween fangirl or younger

Oh from what great heights you have fallen.
Wow it is literally a copy paste job with some beatz added in between
All those YouTube comments.
I thought it might been a short sample or remixed sample or something, but it sounds like it's literally just ripped from the other song.
[editline]17th April 2013[/editline]
This is still the worst ripoff I've ever heard
I get fucking mad whenever I hear artists try to steal other songs into their own because they're fucking lazy
At least that is sort of re-mixed and changed, I wouldn't call it a ripoff, although it is lazy
what the hell is the big deal, it's an awful song and nobody is giving it credit.
Nobody cares if they sampled 10 seconds when the rest of it is arse.
The discussion literally went from "blatent stealing therefore it's bad" which isn't the case, into "people are just stealing riffs from others" which is again kind of true but pointless.
The only conclusion here is that it's BAD to be Chris Brown and make music.

Your opinion doesn't matter. It's the principle of the matter, someone's music was stolen, no permission was given. It's wrong.

Tell that to Vanilla Ice when he took Queen's music.

I don't think anyone cared either way.
lol you guys should listen to this

Whether or not there is a legal precedent, it's still fucking lazy. And here I was thinking I kinda liked will.i.am.
