Oh yes, we totally got crushed in the Gulf War. Decisive Iraqi victory if I recall.
Not a war. Only a police action.
"AR rifles" lol, thats as redundant as brony faggot
Not a war. Only a police action.
um wikipedia says its a war so its a war!?
Not a war. Only a police action.
Once more for emphasis:

If you're a marine or soldier, it doesn't really matter what you do or what kind of sticker you wear on your vest/helmet. It's going to be badass.
Well we conquered an entire continent with the first one...and we've only lost wars with the latter.
I'm pretty sure that rifle didn't exist until 1894, and i'm pretty sure that the whole of what is now current US territory was 'conquered' by at least 50 years earlier, and i'm pretty sure the US isn't a continent anyway
You mean this?

That's not the worst part, apparently it was a genuine world war 2 k98k.
Not a war. Only a police action.

war (wôr)
n.
1. a. A state of open, armed, often prolonged conflict carried on between nations, states, or parties.
b. The period of such conflict.
c. The techniques and procedures of war; military science.
The Gulf War was a military conflict between a US-lead international coalition and Iraq. I don't give a damn whether you support it or not, the definition of a war is exactly what went down there. There was nothing "police" about it.
That's not the worst part, apparently it was a genuine world war 2 k98k.
Aren't they rare as fuck or something (like, by current WW2 weapon standards)
Wow, these people are seriously starting to venture deep into being fanatics about this, someone should seriously get the worst cases some help, I doubt they are in a very stable state of mind.
Waiting for someone to tell me how this weapon compares to AR rifles in general to see if we can call him dumb or not.
It's a step backwards in contemporary warfare. Lower magazine capacity, slower to reload, slower rate of fire (since one has to manually cycle it after each shot i.e. it's not semi-auto), and the old black powder cartridges, while flinging a hefty bullet, tend towards having something of a rainbow trajectory. Probably quite a lot more cons to it than that, but that's all I could come up with off the top of my head.
The main sticking point is that no military officer of any rank is going to entertain the absurd notion of letting a soldier have a non-standard issue weapon since it's a complete waste of effort procuring ammunition nobody else in the army uses just so the special little snowflake can have the gun he wants and not the gun he needs. He's certainly not special forces, which would warrant leeway in armaments (carrying AKs to blend in with locals for a mission, for example). Also if he runs out of ammo in the field, he can't ask a squadmate to toss him a spare mag.

According to that, we are at war with Yemen, and were at war with Libya, then.
Actually, I don't think the 1894 Marlin even used .45/70, so add a conversion job on top of the other absurdities.
EDIT: Goddamn this thread moves fast, broke automerge :/
EDIT2: Suppose he could be referring to earlier lever-action rifles of Marlin's manufacture, but that's just even sillier.

yeah we are, problems?
by your definition the last war was WWII
lolright
There is nothing that makes you feel more unpatriotic than the good old feeling that a pack of sissies protects your country.
if you consider shooting an assortment of innocent brown people protecting the country then it probably doesn't require the sense of heroism you feel they need.
Clearly the US Army lacks discipline and structure if soldiers are modifying equipment without permission. The British Army would never allow that to even happen, especially rainbow stickers.
who cares? it's not like they'll be shouting "pinkie pie is soooo kawai desu!" in the middle of combat or anything. they're trained soldiers, they won't let a show affect their job any more than anyone else would let the season finale of LOST affect it.
sure it's stupid to be wearing that patch but if it's just for the convention then it doesn't really affect anything worth mentioning.
he's got it all wrong
it's supposed to be on his butt gOSH
no but seriously if marines wear morale patches there should be some kind of requried palette
plus as a person who actually pretty much hates MLP with a passion i think that rainbow dash's cutie mark would actually look pretty cool in camo colors :v:
(i never thought i'd actually ever say that in my entire life :suicide:)
There is nothing that makes you feel more unpatriotic than the good old feeling that a pack of sissies protects your country.
actually I think knowing that your soldiers are free to enjoy whatever they want would make me appreciate that whole "freedom" thing a whole lot more.

you're not allowed to have fun in the military
[sp]i'm kidding jeez[/sp]
I must stop this from entering the British Army!
so people like a cartoon, give them a break.
It gets a bit ridiculous.
You don't even see kids making up such overreactive fandom towards the cartoons they like, let alone grown men going to such extremes as sewing that stuff and carving pony stuff from the show on their rifles from a show for little girls.
Or so you would expect people not to do such things...

Counter point: Pokemon.

hey, if it makes them feel more at home, I'm all for it. fighting fucking sucks.
also, wasn't there a guy here on FP who got some Adeptus Mechanicus dogtags? I don't think he spent all his days talking to the chopper mechanics about Warhammer 40K.
