NEXT UP: SOLDIER CARVES PONY INTO STOCK OF WEAPON; FREE GUNS SHIPPED TO EVERY US CITIZEN FOR MASS SUICIDE
That's a rather bad example/counterpoint/whatever. He'd get a bollocking from his CO if he decided to carve shit onto his gun; none of the equipment a soldier is issued belongs to them, and thus they aren't allowed to do anything they please with them, especially not their weapon.
People are probably more comfortable with big burly men protecting their beautiful red white and blue rather than a pack of sissies watching rainbow ponies. Just saiyan.
DADT needs to be brought back. We need manly straight, white, Christian men fighting. Not sissies that just want to fuck each other in horse masks on the front line. Romney 2012. God bless America.
If I was in a squad with a dumbshit with a rainbow sticker because he wants to let the world know he loves a show designed for little girls I'd be fucking pissed. He'd be a detriment to the safety of my fucking squad because that shit for brains is putting a BRIGHT RAINBOW on CAMO.
You do know that this is just for the convention, right? They'd be dumbshits if they go out there wearing bright rainbow patches. OH NVM, they're already dumbshits because THEY LIKE SOMETHING YOU DON'T
This is like a gay soldier putting a rainbow patch on his sleeve. Seriously though it's 50/50 funny/sad that some of you are offended by this.
I don't know how much you know about the military but the very first thing you learn is that you as an individual are worth less than dog shit and the military structure as a whole is worth far more than you, the one and only call you are allowed to your parents you have to address them as sir and ma'am, and instead of using 'I' you use 'this private' sorry if some couple of thousands of years of refining military doctrine slightly outweigh your opinion
Agree'd, I doubt many of them actually have a sound state of mind to begin with; For example, I have a friend who changed his first and middle name to Fluttershy and Brony, and never stops talking about the fucking show.
Oh god, please tell me that's not his legal name, PLEASE!
you know that's not literal, right? besides, there's sensationalist, then there's just plain missing the point of the story. it being MLP will not affect their ability to do their job; if it did, they would not still be in the army.
It can be literal or not, depending on whether the OP feels it's fit or not. My point in starting this thread wasn't to discuss the patch, it was to start a shitstorm about MLP and ride it. (User was banned for this post ("admitted the thread was only made to start shitstorm" - daijitsu))
Is every single one of your posts some nationalistic British post?
Pretty much, but primarily a fervent far-righter.
Oh god, please tell me that's not his legal name, PLEASE!
It is; And it seems to be holding at the same mental level as all bronies I have met to this date. Hardly surprising IMO.
How utterly bizarre. Doesn't that get dropped once the recruit gets out of boot camp?
It can be literal or not, depending on whether the OP feels it's fit or not.
actually I think Starpluck used to ban for that
My point in starting this thread wasn't to discuss the patch, it was to start a shitstorm about MLP and ride it.
then is a pointless and ultimately shitty thread

How dare these men like something what a bunch of pussies. I heard a soldier laugh once, it was terrible and I wept for the sorry state the military was in.
The Marines are intended to be the epitome of an elite squadron. One of their main purposes is intended to scare opposing forces with their rigorous form of training, respect for authority, and willingness to follow orders. Now having these people walking around with ponies stitched into their uniforms is just an embarrassment to the country and I'm sure other military forces would simply laugh at this. I frankly don't give a shit what people watch (although I find it mortifying that a bunch of young adults are watching a girl's 5 year old television show), but when it comes down to something as serious as the military, it should stay out.
I really don't care if they like ponies. However, putting a rainbow sticker on when you're deployed in an arid country is screaming shoot me!
The pokemon craze was mainly focused within its specific target audience, the biggest reason older people are into it is because of nostalgia. It started as a videogame and it was something unique when it came out, so it's popularity makes complete sense. All the merch including card games and such strongly appealed to its target audience as well. Add to that the fact there wasn't really a brony equivalent for pokemon where fans would treat the whole thing like a sort of cult, and you can't really compare the two
I never understood the obsession with people believing that just because you're older means you can't enjoy childish things. Why does being a "man" mean you can't enjoy a show designed for little girls or other cartoons? Both masculine and feminine. Have we really come to a point in our advanced life that we still let social "norms" dictate the way we live? Whatever happened to let people live the way they want to? Everyone is unique? Be yourself? Express yourself? But no, someone does something outside the social norm for men and suddenly shit hits the fan because... I don't even know? It attacks other men's insecurities? I just don't get it.
actually I think Starpluck used to ban for that then is a pointless and ultimately shitty thread
when I made good threads (like that one on counterinsurgency, a while back) I got 0 replies. Real discussion requires real articles with real depth of information (that article was probably tl:dr for people). Don't expect that. It's pointless and shitty, but, it's fun.

It's the fact that some bronies base their life around a kid's tv show that pisses me off. I like this show named Breaking bad, I'm not going to rename my self "Walter White" or dedicate entire image boards/ websites just to a tv show or make fucking weird ass porn about it. Everyone doesn't need to know you like some tv show Seriously, bronies just need to knock it down a notch or two
How utterly bizarre. Just read OPs message and I can infact conclude that this thread was created just to cause a massive shitstorm. Somemod lock this, please. Before anyone gets hurt.
I really don't care if they like ponies. However, putting a rainbow sticker on when you're deployed in an arid country is screaming shoot me!
Its a small coloured badge not a huge neon sign, it probably has no noticeable effect on the camo.

The only reason you hear so much about them and notice them a lot is because they are the most outspoken ones about it. Same thing applies to practically everything else.
around peers, but individualism is stomped out for a good reason, everyone is a part of a greater whole lmao sniping because you can't find fault
you implied that because 'military doctrine' has been around for thousands of years, it is superior to an individual's thoughts. that is a logical fallacy; with those ideas you may as well convert to the oldest religion going because athiesm is clearly wrong (it hasnt been around for as long)
"OK LITTLE PUSSIES SHOW ME THOOSE RAINBOWS! SHOW ME THOOSE RAINBOWS... GO GO GO! This is not for you, or your family. And not for our country. Is for EQUESTRIA." I think about this, and I laugh.

There aren't a "small fraction" or such; This is what they all are. If anything, the small fraction are those who know how to interact socially and don't show that shit down everyone's throat 24/7/365
