The Marines are intended to be the epitome of an elite squadron. One of their main purposes is intended to scare opposing forces with their rigorous form of training, respect for authority, and willingness to follow orders. Now having these people walking around with ponies stitched into their uniforms is just an embarrassment to the country and I'm sure other military forces would simply laugh at this. I frankly don't give a shit what people watch (although I find it mortifying that a bunch of young adults are watching a girl's 5 year old television show), but when it comes down to something as serious as the military, it should stay out.

it is staying out. military regulations strictly outlaw personal patches, or at least personal patches of such garish colours. this has likely been drilled into the good soldier's heads since they joined - they will not disobey these rules now, or at most an incredibly small percentage of them will, and they will be swiftly removed before any damage is done.

in the military you're not allowed to be 'unique' or 'express yourself' by decorating your [b]uniform[/b] however you see fit (hint: it's called a uniform for a reason)
not only does it not belong to you, but everything on it and every material it was made with was put where it is for a reason, there is never any good reason to put your own patches on it, color it however you want, or bedazzle it
