Tenn. Senator introduces bill making following Sharia law and by extension Islam a felony

every day i hear about another stupid bill being proposed
This is very dumb. People should be able to freely practice their religion. We have other things that protect against violent punishments, such as charges for assault.
Why does everyone here start foaming at the mouth and breaking out in hives when anyone mentions something negative about Islam?
To clarify, I do think this bill is dumb. It's a blind swing in the dark at a problem that doesn't even exist. Anybody may practice their religion as long as they do not infringe on other's rights. My concern is the manner in which Islam is practiced, do you honestly think you're doing the 1st amendment a favor by allowing Sharia Law?

Yes because that's it. It's not the fact that a senator proposed an incredibly unconstitutional bill with a basic bigoted misunderstanding of the concept of sharia law, it's because someone said something bad about Islam. Fucks sake.

“I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.”
In short, stop being overpresumptuous. I have never, ever, said something so extreme about Islam. I tip-toe around this subject and I still seem to come off as some pissed off redneck Texan to someone, especially you.

right but pretending as if the problem is with you mentioning islam is ridiculous.
saying that sharia law is unconstitutional is a strange statement because it's like saying kosher is unconstitutional.
there are levels to this shit and either you fail to grasp these levels or just posted without thinking

Now that you say that, I understand I'm not being specific enough. I should say there are parts of Sharia Law that do not comply with the American legal system. I would like to know though, is there any part of Sharia that you disagree with?
There are parts of Mosaic law that doesn't comply with the american legal system either.

what does sharia have to do with the american legal system that's the part i'm not grasping
if there are people who want sharia put over every single person on the planet you politely tell them to fuck off
i disagree with the entire notion of devoting yourself and your laws to an entity that doesn't exist yet i don't go around prancing about saying "SHARIA LAW IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL"
Tennessee has some of the worst politicians ever.

My question still remains. Based on your interpretation, is there any part of Sharia that you disagree with?
For example, in cases of serious crimes such as fornication, theft, or abandonment of Islam, forensic evidence is rejected in favor of eye witnesses. That can seriously change the outcome of a case, for better or for worse. I disagree with that.
i don't think any muslim who understands the concept of forensic evidence would prefer eye witnesses

Any concern for Muslims traditionalists who would toss it aside in favor of following God's law? There isn't a lot of leeway to misinterpret this rule, the other choice for a Muslim would be to just disregard it.

muslim traditionalists can kindly fuck off
are we operating under some idea that sharia law will be implemented in the US? i can assure you that will never happen because not even most muslims want sharia to the extend you are talking about
A fun way to think of this is that Muslims are pretty close to Christians so far as religion goes and have a lot of the same rules in their books. No one is raising a shitstorm about banning christian law or anything, even though that's a much more likely threat to this nation (see christian dominionists and all that) than muslims would ever be.

I'm assuming that Muslims living here prefer not to have it, so we're on the same page about that. I won't challenge you further. It's been a good learning experience talking with you.

See look, I can barely detect the sarcasm because I ignore emotion.
i wasn't being sarcastic
Then I stand correct.
and like 10% bjork
only when it's absolutely needed
overdo the bjork and the bjork becomes old
you NEVER want the bjork to become old
Bjork-chat: Since I rec'd albums to you, do me back. I mentioned disliking Bjork a while back, what's a good album of hers to get into her style and that might change that opinion?

to quote myself:
huh depends how freaky you wanna get really
if you are a bit like a dancy type of person you'd wanna get debut
if you like a bit of anything as long as it's not too far out you'd wanna get post
if you are ready to try something crazy and sometimes difficult you'd want homogenic
if you really want something very kind of modern and electronic you'd want vespertine
medulla and volta are mostly something you have to be a fan of to appreciate
so my recommendation is either post or homogenic and YOU SHOULD BUY THEM if you like it because she's an indie artist
Ok cool i'll check them out. And I totally misspelled an artist's name before, it's Otomo Yoshihide. I had to fix that, couldn't let it mar my image.

well i looked him up but he certainly isn't as melodic as ryoji ikeda
well i looked him up but he certainly isn't as melodic as ryoji ikeda
No he isn't, but hey you said you liked experimental things. I can't really think of others as melodic, one inbetween Ikeda and Yoshihide is SoiSong, maybe, it's a duo with Peter Christopherson from Coil/Throbbing Gristle.
Listening to it now, it's more full and heavy than either, but it has melody to it yeah. qXn948s and xAj3z are the two albums I have and they sound like a mix of industrial, dark ambient, and glitch. P. good.
