Shit I am not poking this argument with a 12 foot stick. Too many touchy over sensitive people.
No. Stop this bullshit logic. This is ENTIRELY about respect for the dead, not terrorism.
Why do the dead deserve respect? Just because they're dead?
Hearing this hurts my heart. My father and I (Both Ironworkers) worked the pit for weeks after the tragedy. I've seen things that nobody should ever have to see. The place is first and foremost a graveyard, a monument to those who will never be recovered and those who died in an almost unfathomable act.
To the people that visit it as a "tourist destination" and treat it as such, with no regard or respect for those it was built for- Fuck you. You should be thrown out.
It absolutely baffles me how many people here have no respect for the dead. These people were all innocent victims of a deliberate terrorist attack. We shouldn't dwell on it incessantly, but there's nothing wrong with respecting the people who died either.
I kinda stopped giving a shit when you could slap a few more zero's on the number and then you'd have the civilian iraqi deaths.
Until I'm convinced otherwise, I'm assuming Fenderson is doing a terrible job at trolling.
Well, actually not so terrible since people won't stop responding to him.
(stop)

After reading a lot of these comments I think it's because of this:
Some people see this memorial more as a personal thing. A place people can go to mourn the loss of life. Usually these would be people who had some connection to the deaths there.
Then there's the second group. These people see it more as a public park, a place marking the location where the event took place. So how people feel when they are there is going to be varied, some will be mournful, others will just be curious to see what's there.
If it's private, and people are only given permission to enter based on an agreement to obey the rules, then the fault is on whoever is running this place. They need to enforce their rules, simple as that. After all the only thing that gives power to a rule is the ability of the rulemaker to enforce it.
Oh no, a tourist spilt coffee on a memorial? The horror! Yeah, it's pretty disrespectful, but these people treat it like they were going at it with a sledgehammer. Some people need to learn to take it easy.

Then why post?
I don't see people leaning against the Vietnam War Memorial Wall. And the conflict is 50 years ago.
They should treat this site the same.
I guess that's a respectful lean though.
who would have guessed that this is what happens when you open things up to the public.
golly gee.
Dear god this fucking memorial has caused so much fucking drama can we just bulldoze the fucking thing already?

Fuck no we fucking shouldn't, not only is it a fucking memorial but as fucking stated before it's also technically a fucking gravesite for those who's bodies weren't fucking recovered. Fuck.

It's been 11 fucking years, we need to get the fuck over it, otherwise we'll keep fucking perpetuating a foreign policy of a fucking "war on terror" which capitalizes on the fucking blood lust of Americans for revenge on middle easterners. If we truly "never forget", we'll never get over our imperialistic foreign policy.
yeah
fuck you grieving widowers/widows get the fuck over it
fuck you children losing parents get the fuck over it
fucking crybabies
Karma for Hiroshima.
After the war on terror ends we shall declare a crusade on apathy.
