Good, we have enough ignorance in this country anyways, we don't need you to add to it.
He was a business owner, shot once in the chest while out on a regular and predictable walk, without a witness(ie his daughter), and nothing was stolen. It sounds like a hit to me. Who inherits his share of the business? Is there a pending major decision involving the business that can now go forward, a decision he might have opposed?
I think over here people are only shot in drug related liquidations.

Hello, I moved to the US when I was 2 years old. I've lived in Texas my whole life. I've seen a total of a single gun in my entire life - not including police officers.
You're an idiot if you seriously think there are murders on every corner and people walking around with assault rifles and concealed carry permits.
Why is everyone so butthurt if some random forum member doesn't want to spend his holiday in the US ? I wouldn't either, I'd rather visit Egypt or Greece :v:

Because he didn't say "I think Egypt or Greece is a better place than US for the holidays" but "I won't go to a country where people get shot" being an idiot because it happens everywhere.

I think the problem here is the media who like to focus on bad news like this, making the US look like a shithole to live in, looking at it as an outsider. Even this subforum focuses more on the negative stuff and browsing it makes my image of foreign countries worse and worse. This is one of the reasons I stopped watching local news, made me feel depressed.

The media focuses mostly on bad stuff because most of the time things go right and there's no need to report that.
It's exactly why there's a lot of hatred towards cops. The media needs only to report when things go wrong because there should be no need to make news about cops doing their job.
What's the neighbourhood like, is this something completely out of the ordinary?
To be honest Overbrook isn't even all that bad, unless you go into the streets and yell, "N*GG*R." Even the worst parts of Philly nowadays are safe to walk in in the day.
