Religion isn't the reason for homophobia, and you should see that even though Atheism is your primary hobby. Humans are made for procreation (like every other animal), which means man and woman having sex, which means that, purely instinctively, our brain tells us that homosexual people are wrong the same way our brain dislikes people that are different (or why people want revenge instead of reformation, or any quite primitive and instinctive behaviors). Hence why most religions are against non-heterosexual relations. People aren't against homosexual relations due to religion, religion is against homosexual relations due to how the human brain works. Obviously we can repress those ideals (like discrimination and revenge) and we are kinda expected to in modern societies, but not all do.
