Web Censorship Bill sails through Senate Committee

This is what happens when you give a generation power to legislate technology they don't understand.
Where will I get my Linux distros now?
Haha. It made it through the COMMITTEE but it will NEVER make it through the House or the Senate. The Committee is a fucking joke.
The bill that the US is proposing would allow them to shut down foreign owned sites as well. It isn't a filter, it allows them to take down any web site registered anywhere in the world, for the entire world.
We need an ICANN equivalent in every country so this can't happen.
wouldn't that be an act of war?
How do you like your (corporate sponsored) freedom now, huh? :911: :patriot: :911:

Isn't ICANN monopolying?
That's it. I've joining the war on Anon's side.

A war haha.
Won't make it through the senate - the anti-big government conservatives may actually come in handy for something
I don't know, plenty of acts that were questionably infringing on privacy and personal activity was at many times approved by those self styled "anti-big government" types.
Actually it's these types of votes that the ever cherished "bipartisianship" ever manages to amount to anything. If you look at the sponsors of the bill they both come from Republican and Democratic politicians.
The web censor laws just keep coming and coming. We're in for a bland future if it keeps up.
If it passes, we will have no place to complain about it...
