I've long thought that he has some kind of degenerative mental illness. He seems incapable of maintaining a train of thought long enough to even finish a sentence. His speeches are rambling, incoherent messes, and the only common trend is how great and smart and strong and powerful he is. Everything is secondary to his compulsion to be recognized and validated, so much so that everything else just becomes unintelligible background noise. Here is one example, recorded from a speech he made: He's been nuts for a while, but now, under the stress of office, I think few mental faculties he had are starting to burn out in favor of his delusions and paranoia. He sees a world full of enemies waiting to get him, and is committing high crimes of office left and right attempting to get rid of them and make people finally see that he's powerful and smart and worthy. He rules on a whim, and viciously turns on everybody who doesn't humor him, damned be the consequences. The man's not only hungry for power, he's completely bonkers. He's a modern Caligula.
man if all his crimes turn out to be the result of dementia i'm gonna feel super weird about hating him so much
man if all his crimes turn out to be the result of dementia i'm gonna feel super weird about hating him so much
I wonder what it would mean for the election process if we had to account for the fact that someone who is mentally ill got elected to office.
well if I wasn't ashamed of being American before I sure am now
Trump would listen to anyone and anything that praises him, that's his main motivation in life: being loved. He's unpredictable because he doesn't really have a solid set of principals unlike most people. This is incredibly dangerous and everyone from cabinet members to foreign leaders are trying to influence him in any way they can. He pretends to be his own man and a strong leader, but in reality he is just the biggest tool there can possibly be. The office of POTUS if effectively a hundred different minds right now. It is shameful, yes.
man if all his crimes turn out to be the result of dementia i'm gonna feel super weird about hating him so much
If this were the case then you can be guaranteed that the GOP's leaders knew this and allowed it anyway, and thus you can have new people to shift anger and blame to.
Republicans have elected two mentally incapacitated leaders, one of whom is revered as one of the single greatest Republican presidents of all time. At some point, pushing back against elitism and voting for the casual, down-to-earth, tell-it-like-it-is guy goes too far, and a bunch of people with undiagnosed mental illnesses end up electing someone with undiagnosed mental illnesses so that he can cut their healthcare so that they don't have to admit that they have undiagnosed mental illnesses. Trump should be in a dementia ward. Reagan led our country for years in a similar state. The GOP fetishizes mental illness.
The "casual, down-to-earth, tell-it-like-it-is guys" are perfectly representative of H.L. Mencken's premonition of future America: “As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” The GOP itself might as well be classified as a mental illness, especially now given how many still support Trump/his administration and Congress even after everything they've committed against the United States and the American people-- yet in spite of all this, millions still wholeheartedly support them. The delusions they will invent in order to rationalize this behavior are frankly astounding, both in terms of their depth and complexity (a true feat of mental gymnastics if ever there was) as well as in terms of their obstinacy. This nation is full of fucking idiots who are frankly worthless, and they're sabotaging your future, my future, everybody's future directly by propagating this idiocy. I have no doubt that we'll survive this, but I worry about what we're going to lose in the meantime. What's our generation going to have to suffer with? Future generations?

Don't make me laugh. You really think that the Republicans have a monopoly on idiots? Give me a break. Most people- be they democrat, republican, rich, poor, young or old- are brain dead, mouth breathing, gullible, ignorant, drooling retards. Instead of fucking retarded republicans who think global warming is a hoax and that Obama is a Kenyan muslim, we'd have fucking retarded liberals who think vaccines cause autism and that GM crops give you cancer. Instead of republican soccer moms bitching about people saying bad words, we'd have liberal retards crying about offensive language. Different sewage, same smell. You and the people you despise are cut from the same cloth. You both just want easy answers and simple solutions to complex situations and difficult problems. And you're so up your own ass that you're willing to burn everything down to fuel your infantile fantasy.
This is not how you fuel a rational discussion
and "republicans are worthless enemies that must be destroyed to secure our future" is, right
What democratic representative is anti-vax and anti GM? From what I've seen, that's a small group of the population, very few, if any, of which have government positions. Meanwhile, in the republican sector... Well, just look at the current administration.
Anti GMO groups and anti vaccine groups are just as cancerous as the anti sex education groups and the anti environmental regulation groups. They spread propaganda to paint GM crops as poisonous to countries that need them to feed their people and they create environments for curable diseases to fester and grow. And in all cases these groups are primarily supported by people who'll never have to deal with the consequences of not having enough food, or not having access to clean air and water, or having to care for sick family members without access to proper health care. Does the GOP hold the lions share of dangerously stupid politicians, and are they the ones fucking up the government right now? Yes. Would the country suddenly become an intellectual paradise if you got rid of all the republicans? No. You'd remove one kind of fucking retarded only to have another kind of completely fucking retarded take its place. [editline]15th May 2017[/editline]
Please quote the post that stated this, because it seems like you're getting angry at a strawman.
You would have to be blind, deaf, and dumb to not see what Govna's trying to say. He's been vomiting out this spiel for weeks now.
They're just worthless, whatever the case may be (trolling or serious/delusional). The only thing you should think when you see one is "enemy". A few months ago, it might have been excusable to be a holdout for Trump and the administration, even for the sake of having a retarded opinion-- but now with everything that has come to light and actually been committed, it's just nefarious. There' no reason to be a supporter. Stop pissing the people off. There's more of us than there are of you, and we're getting angrier and angrier. Write them off. They're the same as Trump and the rest of the administration: enemies to us, the American people, and to our country. Stupidity is not an acceptable excuse anymore, given what's at stake here.
can you really not see what his angle is?
and "republicans are worthless enemies that must be destroyed to secure our future" is, right
Can't fault the guy for stating facts. If facts hurt your feelings, you may not be mature enough for this discussion.

another fucking reason why trump is a danger to this country, he cannot tell what is credible or not even with the entire whitehouse behind him

He's been vomiting out this spiel for weeks now. can you really not see what his angle is?
Sweet, except this isn't what I want. As I've said before, this is a problem that will solve itself... in a few generations. Younger generations of Americans are becoming more and more liberal, and they'll take the reins eventually. Politics will always be politics, there will continue to be issues, but it will absolutely be a massive improvement over what we've got going on today. We don't need to "get rid of all the Republicans" like a bunch of jackbooted, genocidal Stalinists-- we need to first push them out of our government so they won't hold power (using elections, gigantic protests, etc.), then we need to marginalize their position in our political system and prevent them from gaining power again. Once the younger generations get into office, then we'll have at least some measure of security against them. New problems will crop up of course (again, politics will always be politics), but we'll deal with those when the time comes. The point of this is to mitigate the amount of damage they can do in the future. Their attempts at scrapping the EPA (now they've just loaded it with a bunch of industry insiders) and environmental regulations, their attempts to remove of the ACA in spite of the fact that this would result in the loss of access to healthcare for millions of Americans, etc. are all unacceptable. We cannot allow these things to happen, period. Education and whatnot we can reform and fix later, the sooner the better though; I have no doubt that they'll cause damage to it if they can (whether we're talking the cutting of budgets or their push for the privatization of schools). Once they're pushed out of government, we can work on cleaning up their mess and actually implementing reforms we need (like universal healthcare, alleviation programs for education debt, better environmental policies, etc.). Trump needs to be impeached, plain and simple. I have no doubt at the rate things are deteriorating that he will be, although the situation with Director Comey has been concerning insofar as investigations into these people are concerned. His administration, given the numerous ties to Russia that exist within it, I think will also be cleared out when that happens because of how many members are clearly in collusion. Again, this is another situation that will resolve itself. His approval rating is atrocious. This isn't going to go on much longer given all the outrage that exists. The majority of Americans are sick of it. The reason why I've mentioned that the people are getting angrier and angrier is because they are. It's obvious. Check out any social media feed sometime and see how pissed off they are at what's going on in the country today. And yeah, the people do need to be angry. The people need to be talking about just how angry they are. This is how you get change to happen, whether we're talking protests and marches, or an angry guy at a town hall meeting standing up and shouting at some politician who isn't doing his job correctly (like Geoff Ginter, the "enraged dad" from the other day who did just that and said that, "You're the greatest threat to my family right now"; I even said in that thread that we needed more people like him). We need that kind of energy and enthusiasm. Giving up only enables these people to do whatever they want unopposed, which is (obviously) a bad thing. No, the Democrats aren't perfect. I think the way things went last year with the election proved that to everyone. But they're a hell of a lot better than a party (and its supporters by extension; these people don't just spontaneously materialize into power of course, they're elected) that wants to strip millions of Americans of access to healthcare, that does nothing to encourage education (in fact, it actively undermines it), that thinks it's alright to discriminate against religious and ethnic minorities for the hell of it and uses them as a scapegoat for our nation's problems, and that here recently has gone out of its way to actively ignore the needs and voiced concerns of the citizens it's supposed to be representing now that it has control over the legislative and executive branches. Under the circumstances, yes, they are in fact our enemies. They're ideologically and principally opposed to everything the country needs to sustain itself and is supposed to stand for, and that's exactly why so many people are as upset as they are over everything that's gone on these last few months. Again, I think Geoff Ginter summed it up better than anybody. My sentiments are aligned with his.

Don't act so high and mighty and make everyone your fucking enemy.

You're asking people to adopt ideas and thoughts that will inevitably lead to violence. Tell me, what if you're wrong, and you don't just happen to get everything you want, and everyone doesn't just happen to come to agree with you? What do you do with these worthless enemies then?

Many trump supporters, including the ones I know personally, voted not for him, but "against hillary" (and I have a bit of sympathy for them because if you dont spend a considerable amount of time going through your news, its hard to validate sources, especially with this election). Not every conservative/republican citizen is a the_donald member just as not every democrat is some radical left tumblr poster.
