Microsoft Will Not Support Upcoming Processors Except On Windows 10

To make a point scratch.
Am I the only one who liked vista and who likes 10?
Some might say this trend toward an operating system "service" is inevitable and all OS's do it. Well I don't like it so I switched to Ubuntu. I like my computers to be stable and predictable, acting the same way each time I turn it on. It makes me feel in control, I can get work done faster, I don't have to rely on anyone else to fix my problems... that's why I always turned off windows update every time I do a fresh install.
Maybe other people use a computer to feel "connected", they like the latest games or tech or whatever. If MS want to pander to these people, well they lost my custom.
Why would you ever turn off windows update entirely? There is so many exploits that you would be open to if you refuse to update.

I loved fixed vista
I wasn't a big of a fan of Vista but it was a very stable OS near its EOL.
I think now is the best time as ever to dual boot with a proper linux distro and Windows. There are so many things you can do on both that it seems silly to be explicit about one anymore.
My XPS came with Vista the last year it was offered and it never gave me any problems.
I had a few minor problems with 10 at first, but they've all smoothed out and it's been stable so far.

Well in the old days of XP I guess it wasn't so bad. Everyone talks so much about these "exploits", but personally I haven't suffered any attacks in the years of running "outdated" software. Unlike my sister who despite letting MS run everything on her PC, after a year ends up with some adware crap and asks me to fix it.
But the updates are coming thicker and faster, and now it's reached a point where the updates are constant and you might as well be running windows off a cloud direct from Microsoft.
I don't even like windows 10 wtf. windows 7 was my bae
If Windows 10 is the best, why the fuck can't I run Commandos on it?
Fuck this shit. Oh, there's still GOG.

Maybe you aren't looking in the right places? I know many older games have community patches.

Yeah but when you buy a game isn't it the automatic assumption that the game will work straight away? That said, it really is Steams fault. They hardly make an effort to have a team do anything with older games, like patch them etc... Which is a shame because I really am interested in older games. And it's a little bit of a shame when I can't get said older game to work, but again, Steam. They just sit there pretty with money in their mouth.
