• Microsoft Will Not Support Upcoming Processors Except On Windows 10

Windows 10 user here, since it's release 7 months ago. Never had one issue with any game. I've played games ranging from new to as old as Unreal Gold. Seriously, I haven't had one issue with windows 10, I haven't had any applications be incompatible.
Because of all the bullshit Canonical is pulling.
That still leaves Mint or Mint Debian Edition. OR K/Lubuntu or other variants. Those generally come without "the bullshit Canonical is pulling".
Seriously, I haven't had one issue with windows 10, I haven't had any applications be incompatible.
This really depends on the user. I've only had a few issues with specific programs myself but they've been severe each time, generally resulting in computer freezes. And those have been both Photoshop which is apparently some sort of behind the scenes conflict that Windows 10 causes between it and the gpu which other versions of Windows don't have as well as Visual Studio's C# debugger frequently freezing my computer even after reinstalling both it and Windows. (That last one is kinda a big one seeing as that's Microsoft's own software.)

Not that I can claim anything different as I've only used the VS2013 C++ debugger and OllyDbg in 10 and they both worked as expected.
That still leaves Mint or Mint Debian Edition. OR K/Lubuntu or other variants. I personally only use RHEL based distros but Debian testing is still a great consumer one. You've also got Suse as an excellent option along with the generally perceived as more complex Arch and Gentoo. I understand what Canonical is doing, I just don't agree with it whatsoever. (Note you just asked why people aren't suggesting *buntu distros, I'm not saying that it's not a viable/better choice for some)
At this point we shoud change the OS and go to the competition but.. theres none
while this won't necessarily affect professional applications, Vulkan and Source 2 being "free" to devs will drastically increase the amount of Linux titles, and Valve is waiting on Vulkan being released before hard pushing SteamOS in all directions. Games did help make Windows popular (even Bill Gates used Doom in some dev conference) so with enough time (and no-nonsense, useable out of the box distros) we could see Linux as an option.
"Anyone who has privacy concerns should just piss off because I said so."
Apart from whining about "muh privacy", what else are you going to do? Microsoft will definitely not back down, not like they are obligated to. Anecdotal, but even my conservative paranoid dad made a Microsoft account and gladly switched to W10. When I told him about telemetry stuff, he just replied with "Who the hell would even care about me in Microsoft?"
People that refuse to progress from the past make me want to scream. I can understand in the context of working with sensitive data such as government or lab work, but for the majority of the main population using computers for social or gaming use, big fucking whoop. So what if Microsoft collects what you search for and type? You think they, or Google, or Apple care whether or not I search for "Robot Tits" or saved a picture of me and my girlfriend on a date? As long as you're not doing illegal / really sketchy shit like using the darknet or searching for child porn, what the fuck do you have to worry about? BTW, they don't collect saved pictures. Or documents. They don't remove pirated shit either, I've had a collection of downloaded movies and games on my harddrive in My Documents and My Videos for months without anything happening. What would they collect? Maybe what you type into a document / word file. Would they care what you type or even look at it? Who the fuck would have time to browse over EVERY single word typed from EVERY single user? I have no experience with the Adobe CC suite, so those claims could very well be valid, although not a fault on Microsoft's end. It's not up to Microsoft to provide proper .exes to fit their OS, that's up to Adobe. And Adobe probably won't do shit unless there's a large demand for a fix, which won't happen if everyone stays on older OS versions. I upgraded from 7 to 10. There's a little bit of ads at first, yes. Wanna know the best part though so you never see them again? Right click > Disable. That's it. No Metro apps unless you turn the OS to "Tablet Mode". You can turn off some telemetry for personal security reasons in the settings. I'd say quit whining like a bunch of old people, but I know a bunch of old people that upgraded to 10 and are thoroughly enjoying it (I worked in electronics retail).
why are windows 10 cultists some of the most rabid opinion spewers on facepunch every time there's one of these threads, you get responses like "YOU'RE HOLDING BACK THE FUTURE~~~" and every time someone says that they don't want to upgrade because of an issue, you get a horde yelling "I NEVER HAD THAT ISSUE" [editline]18th January 2016[/editline]
I fucking hate this argument so much Why aren't people still using horses to get around? "If it's not broken, don't fix it"! Oh wait, it's because cars and bikes are better in every single way When MS (or any other company) makes a new OS, they're not trying to "fix" the old one, they're improving on it
also because windows 10 cultists come up with completely nuts arguments like this yes, windows 7 sure is the horse compared to the car of windows 10 comeon now the actual analogy is that windows 7 and windows 10 are two different makes of the same car, and the previous car is slowest getting harder and harder to use because the manufacturer is prematurely removing wheel support on the market [editline]18th January 2016[/editline]
Apart from whining about "muh privacy", what else are you going to do? [editline]18th January 2016[/editline]
imagine if more people switched to windows 10 and stopped believing the lies being spread about it, the compatibility would improve! Imagine that! Imagine if people used windows feedback and microsoft support to help improve windows 10, they wouldn't have the issues they were having, but no if you have an issue better revert and avoid trying to have it fixed for others!
imagine if people didn't make ridiculous hypothetical posts and instead, actually tried to work out why people continue to use windows 7 instead of windows 10 rather than making this weird as fuck altruistic argument where people should stick with having a poor experience in windows 10 to 'help others' or some shit [editline]18th January 2016[/editline] reality: nobody gives a shit if your experience with windows 10 is flawless, if someone is having a bad time with compatibility then they don't have to fucking use windows 10 just because it's the latest version
reality: nobody gives a shit if your experience with windows 10 is flawless, if someone is having a bad time with compatibility then they don't have to fucking use windows 10 just because it's the latest version
Calm your tits, hombre. My only issue is the retarded "muh privacy" argument.

Chances are I'd be fine with the majority of what they're doing if they were actually transparent about it and made it easier to just disable that stuff. I have all the telemetry options on Firefox enabled because I've looked through the data it's collecting and have no issue with the stuff that is being sent to their servers. I don't have that option with Windows which is my issue here. Seriously. Just because you're not doing something illegal or wrong doesn't mean you suddenly deserve to have you privacy invaded. Why the hell are so many of you completely incapable of making this distinction?

And that's more for using Microsoft Office, not notepad.

That's why I use stuff like Ghostery to block Google Analytics and such. Google doing similar stuff doesn't justify Microsoft doing this either. IF it was optional the majority of people who have issues with it would stop complaining. And if they were completely transparent on exactly what data is being collected a lot of them would be fine with it anyways. But that's the issue. The companies who do this sort of shit just force it on everyone and don't bother telling you what information they're taking.
I dual boot both mint and win10, but i always forget to go back to mint once i've finished playing my video games. It's really clunky when you have to reboot just to play a game, and before anyone says that there is games on linux, I got really poor performance on linux compared to win10.

This argument that the latest version is always the best one is just stupid. Did you tell Windows XP users that they were holding back the future by not adopting Vista? What about Windows 8 or ME?
Windows 10 ain't even that good. Right now it keeps making the system sound you hear when you (un)plug a device but I don't why. Also MS Paint is superior.

Rightclick the volume icon in the task tray and select "Sounds"
Newer does not equal better. This argument that the latest version is always the best one is just stupid. Did you tell Windows XP users that they were holding back the future by not adopting Vista? What about Windows 8 or ME?
Vista had a shit start, but it fixed all those issues up, and was eventually objectively better than XP. And yeah, Win8 is an improvement from 7. The number one complain about the OS was the start screen, and if that's the big complain I'm always going to hear, than Win8 did just fine. Especially 8.1. I can understand not wanting to jump on a new software when it just comes out, and rather wait for a few things to iron out. But Win10 is past that point, for the most part, save for isolated incidents.
In order for win10 to get better, more people need to use it and actively report the problems they're having with it.
I like Windows10 entreprise. It's the only version that gives you full control of the system. I might snatch one of those, one way or another if I HAVE to update.
Then gimmie my fucking R9 390 drivers bitches, this news is BS. jesus christ the driver nightmares.
Windows 11 is in the making? So why would I shit a fuck about 10
Windows 11 is in the making? So why would I shit a fuck about 10
source they've more or less implied they're not really doing a new windows every year
Windows 11 is in the making? So why would I shit a fuck about 10
Because MS are switching to a more OS X style release pattern where you'll likely get Windows 11 free if you're on 10? Service packs are likely a thing of the past. The OS release cycle is meant to speed up enough to keep Windows fresh rather than the usual gaps we've had for the last few releases.
Windows 11 is in the making? So why would I shit a fuck about 10
This is a dumb thing to say no matter how you look at it. You could use the same exact excuse for not upgrading to literally any version of Windows in the past or future. Windows 12 is in the making? Why should I shit a fuck about 11 Windows 13 is in the making? Why should I shit a fuck about 12 etcetera.
And I don't care. I don't give a flying fuck about M$ bottom line. And it's always about money even if it's free right now. Yea it's fucking dumb it's the same shit with android software. They release a new shit dick year by year. And every year it gets dumbed down and tryed into a mind less Facebook slut. Windows 7 works just fine. There is not point in upgrading. This is not a new iPhone. I would not mind upgrading some day but when M$ puts adware on my pc I can't trust them. Fin
