Imagine, the dirty europoors scramble out of their boats to raid our benefits but we're prepared. Miles and miles of plugs all along the coast, many succumb to the pain and decide that maybe 50 pounds a week isn't worth it. They then return to "bongo bongo" land. That's the Britain I'm fighting for, that's the Britain that Big Nige will create.
That my friend is a speech for the ages.
Where the hell is the ground in two-pronged Australian plugs, though?
I thought those just didn't have an Earth pin built into it, though I never understood why some don't.
-snip-
I mean there's nothing about that design that's any better than he rest of the worlds plugs it just has like a couple good safeties on it, over here you can also buy safe plugs and stuff and also you can get outlets with safety covers that open when plugs are inserted
Yes but all the things described in that video are legally required and are standard. Which is what makes UK plugs so much better than the rest of the world.
Keyword is almost. Any modern Australian plug has all those safety features except the slots are even thinner AND the prongs always fall parallel to the floor instead of sticking up.
Actually no some plugs still fall face up, it has happened to me in the past where it's the middle of the night and I went to the loo and felt the pain of a million suns hit my foot, I didn't walk properly until 3 days later it was fucking painful
I thought those just didn't have an Earth pin built into it, though I never understood why some don't.
Well then ScottyWired's comment about them being just as good as British plugs is incorrect. I don't consider not having a dedicated ground to be somehow as safe or safer than having one.
Actually no some plugs still fall face up, it has happened to me in the past where it's the middle of the night and I went to the loo and felt the pain of a million suns hit my foot, I didn't walk properly until 3 days later it was fucking painful
It all depends on what type of plug it is. If it's one of the ones that's effectively an 'L' shaped connector then you'll probably stand on it at some point if it's lying on the floor, but if it's one of the straight connector ones then you'll be fine (although the straight connecting ones have other problems such as being impractical in tight spaces).
Real talk? Who and how the fuck does one accidentally step on wired plugs? You'd have to be legally blind or irresponsible with their placement to ever step on one.
Real talk? Who and how the fuck does one accidentally step on wired plugs? You'd have to be legally blind or irresponsible with their placement to ever step on one.
It usually happens at night, in the dark. The same time you stand on lego.
Safer than almost every other plug in the world, mind.
Yea, our plugs (american) are pretty shity in comparison. But at least they are smaller?

This story in a nut"shell".
Safer than almost every other plug in the world, mind.
He talks about being able to touch live plugs on CEE7, even though it's specifically designed for it to be impossible. He obviously doesn't know his shit. Also, you can plug in the plug backwards to open the shutters. You really think a kid won't do that?
Yea, our plugs (american) are pretty shity in comparison. But at least they are smaller?
I'd rather have safety over size to be honest. Saying that, I LOVE Europlugs for how small they are. Although I have had a bad (shocking..) experience with one which would not have happened had it been a UK plug with the same fault. [editline]2nd November 2014[/editline]
He talks about being able to touch live plugs on CEE7, even though it's specifically designed for it to be impossible. He obviously doesn't know his shit. Also, you can plug in the plug backwards to open the shutters. You really think a kid won't do that?
You can't plug a UK plug in backwards if it is within spec. The spec explictly requires there to be just enough plastic / metal / whatever around the socket to prevent it being inserted upside down to open the shutters. Assuming by CEE7 you mean the Schuko plug (and not just the Europlug which doesn't seem to have a specific receptacle) then I'd have to agree. Its a neat design.
Let's face it, the UK plug has even demanded victims here. Once my dad went to the UK to see a championship of darts, and once he left the UK power adapter for his phone on the floor at home when he was back, and I didn't notice it. God it hurt so fucking awful.
It usually happens at night, in the dark. The same time you stand on lego.
But why is a plug just laying on the ground in the first place?
Yea, our plugs (american) are pretty shity in comparison. But at least they are smaller?
When has this ever been a pro?
But why is a plug just laying on the ground in the first place?
When something is unplugged? and it always lands on its back so the prongs face up
I'd be more worried about the pyramiding of the shell.
I like US/JP plugs because they're so small the prongs don't ever lay face up for people to step on them. [t]http://i01.i.aliimg.com/img/pb/892/549/292/292549892_087.jpg[/t]

I swear once a year FP has this huge plug discussion It's quite fascinating
You really think a kid won't do that?
how smart do you think small kids are
Why can't they just make a universal plug god fucking dammit its so annoying when you're travelling and you need those adapters

[t]http://i01.i.aliimg.com/img/pb/892/549/292/292549892_087.jpg[/t]
I just wish the US standard was more like the UK plug though, so you have a flat head rather than this pull-out thing. I'm working at a shop and our computers are connected to plugins on the floor, and i keep on tripping on them and almost knock the computers out, a.k.a. shit gets fucked. those UK plugs would fix that issue, albiet we'd still be tripping over them but we wouldn't almost knock out the computer itself.
Flat plugs also have the advantage of allowing you to but tables and desks nearly up against the wall with things plugged in behind it Flat plugs comes on a lot of devices though, just seems to be up to manufacturer discretion
