Yes, reprogrammable keys are possible with software. You still have to have the keys and the software to do it, however.
Being able to map mouse buttons to keyboard functions is also quite handy.
If they aren't for you, then they aren't for you, but don't spew crap about logitech that simply isn't true. Their hardware is generally pretty quality.
Software like autohotkey can remap arbitrary keys to functions many times more advanced than anything the logitech drivers can handle. Mouse buttons are very useful, one reason I love my deathadder. The most important part of a keyboard, the tactile response, is exactly the same between a $150 logitech and a $10 microsoft keyboard.
It's also funny that with console they don't add the cost of the tv.
I'm using a keyboard and mouse from dollar general, and there is no difference between this ten dollar set, and a five hundred dollar "gaming keyboard".
No one said anything about gaming keyboards. Your preconceived notion of high end peripherals is flawed.
The computer I'm currently using only cost around $650?
No, it's not, you're not going to be locked out of games or be laughed at because you don't have a "$599 Alienware Logitech xtreme 64 button X5 Pro-edition mouse".
Shit like this is entirely unneeded and made for gullible idiots.
No one said anything about Logitech, again preconceived notion is way off
Way to accurately represent the cost of a PC there.
I have had both a $5 one and one of those really expensive Logitech mice and keyboards. And in the end, I prefer the $5 one. It never broke in my entire life, while I chewed through 3 expensive mice and keyboards.
Logitech sells things based on gimmicks and flashiness, not quality. They suck.
Logitech Illuminated Keyboard + G500 master race.
I think the mouse matters more than the keyboard. I don't really need a LCD screen on my keyboard, and I don't need any extra function keys unless I am playing ArmA, and ArmA is way too complicated for me to get into anyway.
I can't handle the massive levels of ignorance.
Even five seconds of research on google would tell you it's infinitely better to build your own computer instead of buying pre-built shit.
And why do they need all of that Logitech stuff? Last time I checked my $5 mouse and keyboard has lasted me for three years with zero problems.
Please tell me this is satire.
For hardcore gaming there are more expensive mice and keyboards. Cheaper keyboards and mice can have latency issues, might not be as functional with macros, be uncomfortable to use over long periods of play, and other shit.

This mouse might be more suitable for gaming than a cheaper mouse.
BRB, getting another graphics card
So basically this thread is filled with two kinds of people, the ones who understand the usefulness of a good keyboard and mouse, and those who've never used a Mechanical before.
The PC I'm using right now has some standard microsoft keyboard and mouse shit, I used to be cool with it, but with my new PC having a Logitech G700 and the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate, I can't stand this shitty plastic thing.

I can play any game on the market maxed out now, and I have a nice keyboard and mouse, a nice speaker set, dual monitors, and a nice mic. That costed me around 1000$. You don't need to spend 3000$ to have a good experience (Well you do if you are playing those high detail games like farmville)
guys help i can't fit any more motherboards into my computer, i've tried moving the gearbox but then it won't brake
I can't afford gaming rigs so it makes sense for me to buy consoles that are made to last 5 years or longer.

People who hate on console players that have a reason to play on consoles are stupid, but I hate console players who are like "You're stupid for paying so much money for no reason", and when you try to explain why you like PC they don't want to listen. I used to play on consoles until I started saving money. And it's not just the console players flaming, PC has it too.
I like how they tally up all the costs, as if they think that all gamers are gonna buy all that shit for themselves.
I think I prefer my trackball mouse
It helps me get beefy thumb muscles
This guy literally has no clue.
I mean seriously he forgot the nuclear power plant grade coolant!
you forgot the liquid nitrogen tanks

Second Hand PC:
Mobo from ebay= £30
Q6600 from CEX= £70
GTX275 From Mate= £30
4gig ddr2 from CEX = £40ish
Case = old one someones throwing out
500W PSU= £40
250gb HDD = £20
Keyboard and mouse set = £15
Total Cost= £245
X BAWX 250gb = £199
Pc gaming really doesn't have to be expensive if you are prepared to look about.
Even with a totally new build, I know you can put a decent one togther for well under £1000 which will last you years.
Yeah I built my friend a $600 gaming PC, the costs are never the issue, the knowledge of how to build, and to make a thread on a PC gaming site is :v:
Before anyone says a $200 console is cheaper: factor in the fact that a console cannot replace a PC, but a gaming PC obviously can.

They're joking, right?
It's like they went through and listed all the most overpriced shit they could find. ($800 monitor? Yeah, right.)
Where can I ride a lifesized mario kart?
lol who pays above 2000 $ for any PC, especially a custom build?
PC gaming only costs roughly 2500$ for all your gear. Paying 4000$ is overboard. The price for console gaming seems a bit more accurate but it's not fair to compare since you're getting 6-7 year old hardware for a console and the newest and best hardware for a PC.
The price for the next generation of console will likely be 500$ plus all your gear would tally around 700$.
the article is shit lol
i paid about 1000 bucks over a long period for my gear and it's pretty trim
the secret is only to upgrade what you need.
for instance i've got a new AMD processor and two GTX280+'s which is more than enough for all the recent games, bar fucking directx 11 of course.
but my hard-drives are probably a decade old (showing no signs of wear) and my lovely samsung monitor hasn't lost a spot of brightness since i bought it.
it's just a matter of shopping smart.
Bolded text
Oh my god! I had no idea! I thought everyone bought computers instead of building them and messing around with the many monsters inside them!
Those prices look legit.
[editline]1st February 2012[/editline]
I think my total cost for my pc would be like $900 and that's pushing it.
But i do have more expensive things like my monitor which costs almost $300 alone, so i could have gotten a cheaper one.
