Sooo that would mean most of the guys who make the rules would be Christian based
Well fuck them they should make rules that treat everyone equally
It's not state approved, but it is the culture, whether you like it or not.
Again, you could claim that black people being slaves is culture.
What is normal is not necessarily right.
I think everyone missed the sarcasm :v:
what is this? So we're at a point now where you just say the opposite of what you mean, and that's good sarcasm? Usually when you're being sarcastic, you say something that in some way indicates it, you exaggerate or use hyperbole.
just saying something you don't believe and then going "lol I was being sarcastic" a few posts later is dumb as hell

But having a certain culture doesn't mean it's ok to specifically oppose other cultures. Yeah, most of America is christian, but that doesn't mean it's ok to treat non-christians terribly.
Nah, usually when you are sarcastic you don't say something that you've argued in dozens of other threads.
I'm fairly sure the hajib is worn voluntarily. Therefore the Clinic can enforce that rule all they want as far as I'm concerned. As it's not a neccesity for the religion.
Know whats really weird? I scroll down to the bottom and see a site called:
www.muslima.com
With a woman in a headscarf...
I'm fairly sure the hajib is worn voluntarily. Therefore the Clinic can enforce that rule all they want as far as I'm concerned.
Anything not physical you can consider voluntary. I'm voluntarily an atheist.
Again, you could claim that black people being slaves is culture.

I didn't say it was right or wrong. I said it was the culture.
I'm fairly sure the hajib is worn voluntarily. Therefore the Clinic can enforce that rule all they want as far as I'm concerned.
Well of course it's worn voluntarily it's not like they'll explode if they don't wear it
I didn't say it was right or wrong. I said it was the culture.
So what's the point of mentioning it?
bulletproof turbans
The home office is actually in the process of designing those. Why should people not be allowed to wear certain things if they really want to?

If you look closely, I put "Muslims need not apply." If you're an Irish-American, you would get the sarcasm.
I didn't say it was right or wrong. I said it was the culture.
if you don't think it's right, then why are you arguing?
you can't have a debate if you don't have an opinion.

I wasn't arguing?
This is good, all these Muslim ladies with headscarfs usually piss off my girl friends because they're "Oppressing all women"
Are your girl friends oppressing all women by wearing shirts?
They should promote women's rights by going topless and not being made to wear shirts by the male establishment
We all know from your post history you weren't being sarcastic
If I weren't, then why would I go and say I was?
I couldn't care less of some random guy on some random internet forum disagrees with what I say or think.

Then why are you disagreeing with other people
If you don't care why are you posting

Thank you! Someone reasonable!
Why shouldn't people be able to wear what they want? I have plenty of friends who wear headscarves, it's not because they're opressed, it's because they want a sense of identity.
Also, about the other comments, I honestly can't see what you're arguing about, make up.
Then why are you disagreeing with other people

I was pointing out that people missed my sarcasm. Whether they believe me or not is irrelevant to me.

Completely different. They're not asking her to change her religion, just saying she can't wear a head-scarf. This makes total sense, in an position like this they're not allowed for sanitary reasons...
I agree with the employers. Don't like it, don't work there.
[release]"It's obvious it's a blatant violation," said CAIR's civil rights manager, Khadija Athman. "It's a very straightforward case of religious accommodation. I cannot see any undue hardship on the part of the employer to accommodate to wear a headscarf."[/release]
Accommodate one person's silly request and you'll have to start accommodating everyone. Where do you draw the line?
I agree with the employers. Don't like it, don't work there.
yes, in the real world people can just quit their jobs and find new ones with no consequences or difficulty

You draw the line between reasonable requests and unreasonable ones. Wearing a small religious item that in no way affects your job is a pretty reasonable request.
You draw the line between reasonable requests and unreasonable ones. Wearing a small religious item that in no way affects your job is a pretty reasonable request.
Well, that's just like, your opinion, man.

in fact, it could even be more sanitary, it acts as a hairnet
Well, that's just like, your opinion, man.
no it's pretty easy to gauge if something is or is not affecting a person's performance
and it's pretty easy to differentiate between a tradition of a major religion, and someone's silly whims

How is a head scarf unsanitary
If anything it's cleaner, surgeons are required to cover their hair

Employers can make any policy they want. Regardless of whether the employee can find a new job or not, it's their choice to conform to the policy or leave.
