I don't want to start an abortion debate, but I hate when people do things like refer to a fetus as a "parasite" to make their position seem stronger.
It isn't a mutualism or Commensalism relationship, so it is a parasitism relationship, that is how Organism symbiosis relations are categorized.
I don't want to start an abortion debate, but I hate when people do things like refer to a fetus as a "parasite" to make their position seem stronger.
it's not scientifically accurate. parasites have to be a different species from the host.
Bill Maher's as bad as Limbaugh. Both are fucking terrible people.
Not really. Maher isn't commanding people to be extremists and is mostly reasonable with his judgment in most cases.
Bill Maher's as bad as Limbaugh. Both are fucking terrible people.
Argument to moderation.
Bill Maher runs a smug show with smug people taking a mostly liberal standpoint, but at least he doesn't call people sluts for wanting birth control.
You misogynistic, steryotyping, over-blown fat fuck. My god.
(Referring to Rush that is)

I wouldn't call the guests smug. There's always at least one of them out of them , but they're usually really decent at what they're talking about.
Now I haven't been posting that many stories lately and it's because of the same shit that Rush is talking about. dozens of states are dealing with Anti-women, anti-choice laws that are fucking draconian and extremely, extremely unnecessary and I just haven't been motivated to post them. I want to stop there being a "Seriously America?!?!" thread every hour and it's not helping if it needs to be pushed out there.
[editline]18th March 2012[/editline]
Like seriously. There's so fucking many states that are doing this anti abortion, trans vaginal, doctor lying legislature shit.
[editline]18th March 2012[/editline]
It's fucking depressing and I hope they get fucking ousted in the coming elections for this fucking anti-women shit they've been pulling.
He also said he is "God's gift to women", my mom was listening to him.
Greedy fucks like him should be preaching on a corner and stared at crudely, not believed by the idiot masses in the south and midwest to middle america.

Palin is a cunt though. He's being honest. The Republicans literally make shit up out of thin air.

Example.
Well some people think it's another word for idiot and other people thinks it reduces women to their reproductive system.
I just can't get over the phrase, "Radical community organizer"
I assume that means he was totally awesome at has job.
[editline]17th March 2012[/editline]
Like if you graded him on his community organizing skills there would be RADICAL and a picture of a guy playing a guitar while doing an ollie next to it.
I just can't get over the phrase, "Radical community organizer"
'Community organizer' could be anything from church pastor to domestic terrorist recruiter, it's literally a pointless phrase to use in the context it's being used in.
Take each other to dinner and buy each other diamonds, you chauvinist fart gorilla.
I don't want to start an abortion debate, but I hate when people do things like refer to a fetus as a "parasite" to make their position seem stronger.
While the connotations associated with the term "parasite" are obviously a little extreme when dealing with procreation, the definition still applies 100%.
From Merriam-Webster(I excluded the first definition as it doesn't refer to biological parasitism):
2 : an organism living in, with, or on another organism in parasitism
3 : something that resembles a biological parasite in dependence on something else for existence or support without making a useful or adequate return

it's not scientifically accurate. parasites have to be a different species from the host.
This is not a requirement at all, although I can see how you'd assume that, given that most parasitic relations are.
The fact of the matter is, that by all-out opposing abortion, regardless of the circumstances, you're effectively prioritizing what could be over what is. The only way for this position to be valid, would be if you could prove that the life of the child was more valuable than that of the mother, and that's just not realistic.
I understand where you're coming from however. Abortion isn't a nice thing, not by a long shot, but it is necessary. No sane woman looks forward to a day where they might find it necessary to abort their potential offspring, for whatever reason. There seems to be a broad consensus among the anti-abortion people, that women are simply getting abortions for the hell of it, or to avoid paying for birth control. Honestly, that's probably one of the most ignorant beliefs held by any group of people in America today.

even the Merriam-Webster definition of parasitism states:
an intimate association between organisms of two or more kinds; especially : one in which a parasite obtains benefits from a host which it usually injures
two or more kinds. not a single parasitic relationship besides the conception of a fetus being a parasite involves the same species.
even the greek origin of the word refers to it as "one who eats at the table of another".

And making abortion illegal doesn't stop abortion, it just pushes it underground where more women are likely to die. George Carlin says it best:

Take them to dinner and buy them diamonds?
Wow, way to stereotype. I know for a fact not all women don't want just that.
What, does he also think women enjoy working at home all day while the men go out and do all the hard work?? :rolleye:
Note: I'm unable to listen to the audio, it refuses to play for me in any browser, so I'm only able to go by the title. If someone could post a transcript for me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Ahh, Rushy boy. Always good for a laugh.
I'd rather have a choice in how I take care of my body and some general human rights over diamonds and free food
Oh, please keep talking, Rush. You're revealing how much of an asshole you really are.
