So uh, this is a P4R article, right? Something this stupid can't actually happen, right?

So, it's easier to Sony and MS to undermine rival platform rather than make their own platforms better performance-wise. Pathetic.
I wouldn't put it past them. But I wonder about microsoft... Why are they trying to gimp PC, which is technically one of their platforms?
it's not really one of their platforms, they don't get money from PC games, PC games are mostly sold via Steam which is not MS owned, PC also includes Linux and OSX, etc. They only get money from PC gamers who buy Windows cause Windows is a monopoly.

They'd rather you get an xbox though because they can charge you monthly.
Limiting PC users is so silly. If you have an i5-4770K and a GTX 780, you should be able blast up any game to the max and expect great results. There's no reason why a dedicated gaming machine should have to run off of console standards.
At least this might explain why Dead Rising 3's PC port was locked to 30FPS instead of the 'stability' bullshit.
I don't know about you guys but I play some games at around 10-20 FPS and they're still entertaining. I think it's time to get a new PC. :v:

Once you play something at a smooth 60fps it's hard to go back. 20fps is unplayable for me now, the stuttering is too noticeable.
Sony can suck my stony pepperoni
Half the reason I'm still in love with Facepunch are the puns.
They talk about growing influence of consoles, but they can't have made that much ground in recent year compared with what the PC platform has. It's a rapidly growing market.

There is nothing to confirm that any of this is true. This is all based on what one person claims to have heard the developers say and is his own interpretation of it. There is no evidence for it, other than a picture that shows at some point Ubisoft had some sort of presentation but nothing said during that is shown. There is no proof and this is all from a random post from someone who claims to have heard them say this. If you think about it rather than just going "console manufacturers are evil, of course they do it!" it doesn't make any sense at all. Neither of them would gain anything by doing this and most PC games that get released are not limited to 30FPS. The PC versions would still be superior to the console versions even if this was true, which means it would make no difference. If this was true than other developer's games would of been limited, but they aren't. We know Ubisoft are pretty bad at PC ports and make up a lot of silly reasons to try to justify things, anyway. Phil Spencer has also said it's not true: https://twitter.com/XboxP3/status/522409782116761600 I know people probably won't believe him, but normally he just wouldn't say anything about this sort of thing. He also has no reason to lie as if anyone found out it was a lie, that would make things look a lot worse.

I'm taking this with a grain of salt the size of a mine. The entire thing just reaked someone trying to get PC gamers very angry for views. If it drops to 25 or 30 frames I really don't care.

Having it down at 30 just means I uninstall/refund the game.
I don't even want assassin's creed anymore. France is gay.

So, is Farcry 4 going to have the same limitations? [editline]19th October 2014[/editline]
I don't even want assassin's creed anymore.
$ony Easy Games being locked to 30 fps is beyond stupid I can understand if you're a shitty developer who can't actually optimize your game to do better than 30 fps, but this is a whole other thing.
$on¥
limiting game performance on PC artificially or "locking" it, is going to work as much as simcity limiting offline play and cheating by validating through online syncing PC master race has what consoles can barely have, modders and pissed off modders
I hope that in the wake of the video game crowd not bending over and making a stand, people will get pissed and create a shitstorm if this - or anything like for that matter it - actually happens. The customer should be always right, and the Publisher should be our bitch, not the other way around.
So, is Farcry 4 going to have the same limitations?
Not for long.

There's shit far more important than capped videogames really.
I really don't think this is true. These console manufacturers know they can't get away with this, so why even try?
I dont get why they would even put the effort in locking it for pc People will simply find ways around any lock of this type Always Like really, there is no point in even trying
