Well I don't think that just taking away the money like that is the way to fix things.
Not to be contrarian but why not? It has worked in the past.
Won't make a difference, these bourgeois pigs have an army of accountants and tax experts to make sure the tax man doesn't get any of it anyway.
Not to be contrarian but why not? It has worked in the past.
if the government takes all that money, will it really go to all those doctors and etc that you are worried about?
if the government takes all that money, will it really go to all those doctors and etc that you are worried about?
Yes, that's how taxes work. If that money went to the person being taxed it would most likely sit in a bank account doing nothing.
sit in a bank account doing nothing.
Again, why do banks pay interest?
Yes, that's how taxes work. If that money went to the person being taxed it would most likely sit in a bank account doing nothing.
but if the money is doing nothing then why do banks pay interest? also what if france decides to pull a russia or a usa and quietly steal all the money or dump it into things nobody wants?
Again, why do banks pay interest?
Banks are fine. It's literal piles of otherwise more or less useless yellow metal (outside of it making for nice electric contacts I guess) and other things that have absolutely arbitrary (and static) value. These are where value goes to sleep. If gold had price of nothing but a good conductor and perhaps something relatively nice, then you might argue there is no value buried somewhere used for nothing.
Smurfy I would expect better from you to kinda mention on what exactly is the 75% tax rate taxing. You don't get 75% of your income taken away. If you make a million fucking euro per year (31 fucking times more than any average Frenchman), they take that million and tax it at the same rate they would tax it if it was 900k euro a year, and then take what's above million and tax that surplus past million by 75%. The bottom line is that if you were FUCKING LOADED before, you will be FUCKING LOADED afterwards, anyway.
Shouldn't have said that IMO. Much more exciting to see the ignorant posters with no idea how taxes work posting. Lets us realise the idiots that we shouldn't listen to easier.
Oh God not the gold hoarding conspiracy bullshit again.
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Ron Paul or Ayn Rand yet
Taxing high earners more is still unfair because it punishes people for being successful though.
You're not being punished. And if you're rich before and rich after, why does it even matter? Being completely loaded is idiotic, it'd take multiple lifetimes to realistically spend the money.
can you imagine? a forum with a demographic of mainly 15 year olds whom have never worked one day their entire lives are supporting this communist filth what a surprise lol
can you imagine? a forum with a demographic of mainly 15 year olds whom have never worked one day their entire lives are supporting this communist filth what a surprise lol
you're so edgy bro, i nearly cut my eyes reading your posts. also are we in the same forum? cause it tends to be opposite.
you're so edgy bro, i nearly cut my eyes reading your posts. also are we in the same forum? cause it tends to be opposite.
just as i imagined, somebody would react to that particular word. but also watch noone give a shit about this
Won't make a difference, these bourgeois pigs have an army of accountants and tax experts to make sure the tax man doesn't get any of it anyway.

i thought it was well established that a majority of the posters are now in their college years and or have kids/a career
I disagree, not kids/a career, I'd wager the large majority of posters are high school students and college students, but there's probably a sizeable chunk that do have kids/a career.
Oh my god this thread is hilarious, it's like none of you people even know how taxes work. If you earn exactly 1 million and one euros in a year, the government will get 75 cents from the one dollar you earned over the 1 million euros. Below that, they'll get the next lowest tax bracket worth. It's not like you hit 1 million and one euros and suddenly everything is taxed 75%. The fucking United States had a 90% tax bracket in the 1960s, and now we only go up to about 40%. It's never been too much. It's perfectly fucking reasonable. Learn how taxes work before you suddenly scream and shout about government injustice - 75% is hilariously reasonable.
just as i imagined, somebody would react to that particular word. but also watch noone give a shit about this
2 wrongs don't make a right, also at least he made a point about the accountants/tax experts(which is true), you didn't even bothered, you simply flamed the thread.
Please reelect this man. I want to see France continue in this direction.
I'm a little rusty on the current state of the EU, has there been a positive trend in the Euro with this financial legislation from France?

People who spout conservative bullshit about punishing success and taking 75% of people's money don't understand how progressive income tax works. America's tax brackets used to top out at 90%, and we still had filthy rich people.

tbh if you guys made a mil per year and were suddenly told that no, you only had 250k per year, you'd be pretty mad. 75% is ridiculous to all but the richest of the rich, especially if that person worked hard to get to where they are now. This will make a lot of investors and business owners to leave France

You make ever-so-slightly less than a million per year. This is not how taxes work. You are a terrible reader. Please do not spread misinformation like this - it's why so many people are terrified of higher taxes and scream injustice when the taxes actually just make the lives of millionaires slightly less exotic, flamboyant, and wastefully expensive.

Also, I hate millionaires as much as the next guy, but at least when they're being flamboyant they're spending money. I'd rather have all millionaires be eccentric than hoard all their cash.
its almost like everyone in this thread hasnt read atlas shrugged.
