how can you function with basic every day life thing like buying milk from a shop is beyond me
that's quite the assumption you're making there are you sure he's capable of these things?
Well done France, I say.
uhh, no stop spouting shit if you have no idea what you're talking about
Haha, I fucked up, thought it said it would impose a 75% income tax if you made over a million a year, not a 75% tax on all income made over 1m But if income tax is 75%, then you WOULD be taxed that much (which is not what this court approved, my bad)
If income tax is 75%, then you are taxed 75% of your income. Also, I hate millionaires as much as the next guy, but at least when they're being flamboyant they're spending money. I'd rather have all millionaires be eccentric than hoard all their cash.
Jesus fucking christ, there's like 5 posts explaining how basic progressive tax systems work throughout this entire thread. You are only taxed 75% on the income you receive over 1 million. The money earned between 900k and 1 million is taxed on the next lowest bracket, and the 800k to 900k range is taxed on the next lowest, and so on. If you make 2 million in a year, the top 1 million is taxed at 75%, while the lower million falls into separate, lower tax brackets. Try not to fail economics in high school next time, buddy. Or high school in general - might want to practice reading comprehension, it's a big part of life.
hello i am katbug and what is tax bracket
Hi I'm katbug and like every other 16 year old have no real application for knowledge of taxes I fucked up and I admitted to it, why are you still bitching.
Hi I'm katbug and like every other 16 year old have no real application for knowledge of taxes I fucked up and I admitted to it, why are you still bitching.
because your second defense post was equally dumb and wrong
I still think a bunch of people are going to leave cause of this. Take a look at Gerard Depardieu.
Just as a fun fact, Houston Texas had a 92% tax rate in the late 50's / early 60's.

Lotta communism in here. EDIT: Note to self: NEVER start a business or apply for an exec job in France. If this was 10 million and 55% I MIGHT be a bit more sympathetic, all this will do is lead to massive capital flight, a less competitive economy and massive tax evasion. If the politicians feel this is really necessary it means FRANCE, YOU'RE SPENDING TOO MUCH. Anyway, RIP France.
too bad the people who make 1M can pay less than the tax on it to hide it
Don´t the rich have most of their money in the stockmarket anyway? And the money they get from that isn´t even taxed?
Isn't it capital gains taxes they're hit by? [editline]29th December 2013[/editline]
Not to be contrarian but why not? It has worked in the past.
Like Cuba and North Korea? Like the old USSR? Like China before 1978? Like the UK in the 1970s which led to a decade of Thatcher? [editline]29th December 2013[/editline]
You don't think 1 million+ euros/year is respectable?
Not if you want one of these....
Hey fuck you, if I worked hard to buy a yacht, then why the hell shouldn't I buy the yacht? Who are you to decide what I do and don't need?
"Why should I care about my fellow human beings and countrymen? This is my money. Fuck 'em." If you value your possessions over people then you're a bad person dude.

If you value your possession over people then you're a bad person dude.
"b-b-b-but I care about the poor" isn't really an argument, it's unsubstantiated emotional blackmail.
"b-b-b-but I care about the poor" isn't really an argument, it's unsubstantiated emotional blackmail.
Well I disagree with capitalism on principle but my (admittedly vague) point is that society shouldn't be excessively self-indulgent and value shit like sports cars and yachts over helping others.
"b-b-b-but I care about the poor" isn't really an argument, it's unsubstantiated emotional blackmail.
today i learned unsubstantiated emotional blackmail means empathy!
Yes, that's how taxes work. If that money went to the person being taxed it would most likely sit in a bank account doing nothing.
"government never wastes money"
Are people actually this delusional
There are a lot of people drinking the kool aid when it comes to defending the rich.
I still think a bunch of people are going to leave cause of this. Take a look at Gerard Depardieu.
Not only that, but this doesn't apply retroactively beyond 2013, so basically if you earned your millions or billions before then you're ok, it's just the newly-rich that can piss off. [editline]29th December 2013[/editline]
There are a lot of people drinking the kool aid when it comes to defending the rich.
Why don't you move to Cuba if you hate rich people so much?
Why don't you move to Cuba if you hate rich people so much?
Why do you feel the need to defend rich people? Unless you are rich yourself there is no reason to.
Like the U.S. pre-1980s?
The US was much better before the 80's?
Why do you feel the need to defend rich people? Unless you are rich yourself there is no reason to.
Why people generalize rich folk to be some kind of evil beings is beyond me.
Why people generalize rich folk to be some kind of evil beings is beyond me.
where did he do that? because i don't see it.
Why do you feel the need to defend rich people? Unless you are rich yourself there is no reason to.
Why do you feel the need to be so entitled? Someone is better off than me, so they should be taxed to death. Instead of hating people who are better off than you, why not try emulating them?
where did he do that? because i don't see it.
No him particularly. It's just the overall tone in this thread that is baffling me.
