in canada, many assault rifles are prohibited by name - but on the flip side you have a ton of cheap imports (including lots of badass autoloaders like the SVT40) that aren't priced affordably in the US.
Real question is are they actually any good compared to their Russian counterparts?
it's not that difficult to improve on Russian AKs though, see: Rk series, Galil series, SIG SG 540
What is the purpose of all that junk on the stock?
tighter groupings
I don't mind the tacticool shit. As a fan of attachments, having more rails is good in my eyes. If it's wood ak, then it looks better with no tactical stuff. If it's black and has a custom stock, then go all out for all I care.
I wonder how he'd feel about Russia's new AK upgrade kit.
all that needs to be said is rifle is fine
I wish I didn't live in an authoritarian society, I want to own guns. It's so much fun to shoot them at the range.
Eww, foregrips are like the fedora of rifles
I wish I didn't live in an authoritarian society, I want to own guns. It's so much fun to shoot them at the range.
Can't you get a permit?
Yes Now if only they could start making SVDs.. Also when did 30 round mags start being high capacity when that is standard to the rifle?
I do know that in NJ it can be difficult to find mags that have a greater capacity than 10 for semi auto assault rifles [editline]16th August 2015[/editline] Maybe it has something to do with that? Im not too familiar with other states or gun laws in general though
I wish I didn't live in an authoritarian society, I want to own guns. It's so much fun to shoot them at the range.
Not so fun when you're the target. Careful what you wish for. But yes very fun I'd like to go to the states for some shooting.
Can't you get a permit?
Very time consuming, money consuming and patience consuming also probably couldn't own something that looks all military and scary because boo hoo it looks scary
To own a gun in Sweden you need a hunting licence. You can get a licence in just 3 days. The cost is around 300 USD, but will cost more if you want it fast. That gives you access to all kinds of rifles. To easily own a pistol or "military styled" rifles, you need to be active in shooting clubs. . Example, a privately owned AR-15 in Sweden used for competition: But generally you can own any rifle, as long as you can motivate why you need to use that specific one for hunting. You can also own guns for collective purposes. Of course, the laws are much stricter here. But no, it's not an authoritarian society where all guns are banned.
I hope this is the Scandinavian Socialism Bernie was talking about.
I hope it's not. I'm fine with everything else, just don't make arms restricted to hunters and sport shooters.
California legal when?
Now! [t]http://www.kalashnikov-usa.com/files/images/kalashnikov/firearms/US132.jpg[/t] (I don't actually know if that covers everything legality-wise)
finally saiga-chan will be mine thank you capitalism [editline]16th August 2015[/editline] oh my god there's a dealer for these 12 miles from me RIP my money for the next 2 months
Now! [t]http://www.kalashnikov-usa.com/files/images/kalashnikov/firearms/US132.jpg[/t] (I don't actually know if that covers everything legality-wise)
Needs a bullet button (something that makes the mag release only work with the aid of a tool, making it legally a "fixed magazine rifle" by CA law) Forget what I just said, because this is in a "sporter" configuration, it's 100% CA legal.
Eh, I haven't been terribly impressed with the new saigas. Saigas were always kinda dumb, you had to dump a lot of money into them if you wanted it to be like an AK. Now that they're American made you don't have to dump the money into turning it into one, you just have to pay a ton for a mediocre AK. Honestly I'd rather spend $1100 on a damn good Bulgarian arsenal then spend the $800-$900 on an Ok Saiga. Hell with that being said there's already All American AKs out there that are damn good for the money. They're just made in smaller shops, not the juggernaut that is RWC/kalash USA.
I e-mailed their VP and asked about future plans, specifically asking about the SVD.
Sorry for the late response but it has been very busy here. We are starting by building the AK here, but give us some time and who knows what we will be making!
I wonder if this is just a hype answer or if they've actually got plans to do more than AKs. :v:
Also when did 30 round mags start being high capacity when that is standard to the rifle?
Because 30 rounds could put 30 innocent kids in the ground compared to putting 9-10 kids in the ground.
A few years ago when Saigas were $250 a piece, it was a hell of a deal - spend a few bucks on the parts and furniture you needed, do a little work, and you'd have a nice AK for about $500 said and done. That was equivalent in price to a WASR 10/63 or AMD65, both decent rifles in their own right, but you got the Russian pedigree with the Saiga. Now that real Russian Saigas are in the $700 range, you might as well either buy something like a DDI kit build (Hungarian parts kits built on US receivers and barrels), or just save the extra $300 and get an Arsenal. If you've got the tooling necessary to build AKs already (shop press, a way to crush rivets, etc), then building a parts kit is definitely a good option to get into the AK. I know a guy that built a Polish AKMS for about $415. If you don't have those tools though, tooling up, getting the parts kit you want, receiver, barrel, etc, you're looking at $1000 so you might as well go Arsenal at that point, unless you really want to build your own. As for these US made clones, no thanks. The only company I'd trust with a US made AK is DDI.

Also I have to get a safe that I need to bolt down to the floor and that's not for free either I am not interested in hunting (well, i could do it given the chance, but it's not the reason i actually want to go shooting), but what I want to do is competetive shooting, I have tried it out a few times and it's a lot of fun.
