in canada, many assault rifles are prohibited by name - but on the flip side you have a ton of cheap imports (including lots of badass autoloaders like the SVT40) that aren't priced affordably in the US.
We can only have 5 round mags though which is pretty dumb unless you buy something that can take AR-15 mags and load a a mag intended for use with an AR-15 pistol in it or buy a mag that fits in an AR-15 but is designed for a larger round than .223 and load .223 rounds in it. Both of those are fully legal and influence me more towards getting a Type 97 when I get my firearms license. Also the prohibiting firearms by name is kind of dumb. The HK G11 is prohibited by name in Canada. Who the fuck is going to ever find one of those for sale, let alone buy one?
Needs a bullet button (something that makes the mag release only work with the aid of a tool, making it legally a "fixed magazine rifle" by CA law)
Is that still needed? It doesn't have a pistol grip, threaded barrel or bayonet lug, so it should be allowed as-is... [editline]16th August 2015[/editline]
get another hobby and stop sulking, shooting guns isn't that cool once you've done it a lot.
Thank you for sharing your opinion.
Is that still needed? It doesn't have a pistol grip, threaded barrel or bayonet lug, so it should be allowed as-is...
Forgot about those facts. But still, if you wanted to add those features, you'd have to also include a bullet button to make it CA compliant.
get another hobby and stop sulking, shooting guns isn't that cool once you've done it a lot.
weird, i shoot guns a lot but its still really cool for me? i must be doing something wrong since i still have fun with my hobby i guess.
Do we? I've always been told otherwise. Maybe I was misinformed. Something I need to look more into Edit: I don't know. [editline]16th August 2015[/editline]
get another hobby and stop sulking, shooting guns isn't that cool once you've done it a lot.
Why don't you find a different hobby other than wasting time in front of a computer belittling other people's hobbies? After all, being "edgy" on an internet forum isn't cool when you try to do it a lot.
weird, i shoot guns a lot but its still really cool for me? i must be doing something wrong since i still have fun with my hobby i guess.
He's just trolling as lots of europeans on facepunch like to do when it comes to guns, you won't see any of them getting banned for it either
I sort of wish they come out with a 54R AK, not like an SVD(Although that would be nice), but more closer to a normal AK. This one here is a Vepr rifle, with aftermarket parts of course. I am partially saying that because I have tons of 54R rounds due to owning a Mosin.
There are plenty of 54R AK platform rifles, there's not much difference between them and adding yet another one wouldn't do any good. I'd rather see an accurate SVD clone as there are none available in the US other than a very small amount of Norincos, Tigrs and CIA bringbacks, which are all thousands of dollars each.

They do need to make SVD's, since you are right about that, they cost a lot.
get another hobby and stop sulking, shooting guns isn't that cool once you've done it a lot.
You must be doing something wrong, shooting guns is always cool [editline]17th August 2015[/editline]
Because 30 rounds could put 30 innocent kids in the ground compared to putting 9-10 kids in the ground.
Hoo boy

Not very good with all of this gun stuff - I'll probably start small either way and learn.
Too bad I can't buy them in Maryland anymore. Oh well, I already have a Serbian-made AK so I'm good.

If they weren't, I'd own an AK already.
I cry at night because I know, as an American, I will likely never get to own an SVT-40 for less than a grand, while Canadians can buy them for under 300.
No anymore, they've recently gone up in price. They're now $450.

I just found something saying all assault rifles are prohibited in Canada
Well assault rifles are banned here in America too unless you have a special tax stamp or something that you have to go through a long and arduous process to obtain.
Well assault rifles are banned here in America too unless you have a special tax stamp or something that you have to go through a long and arduous process to obtain.
Have to be made before 1986 also. Which makes them very expensive. A full auto AK is 11 grand.
There's a company that built and registered a fuck ton of transferable receivers before '86 and is still finishing them and selling them, you can get them for a bit under 8k which is the lowest I've seen any transferable full auto.

Considering in terms of parts and function, an open bolt blowback full auto is as basic as a gun can get... yeah. It's a lot to pay for what it is.
Are you high. These rifles literally have what you describe. That's exactly what he's complaining about, because optics on the dust cover and grip is worthless, people want the proper side mounts that actually mount onto the reciever. Holy shit [editline]18th August 2015[/editline] Sorry how can you be this dumb? The side mount optic rail, Russian military spec, compatible with the PSO series scopes, is on the gun, the equipment he's asking for is right there That rail is the correct way to mount optics to AK series rifles [editline]18th August 2015[/editline] It's literally on the gun, I made the picture bigger for you and you're still arguing [editline]18th August 2015[/editline] If you squint you might be able to see it

This is a russian sidemounting optic. Those are still produced and still available, he's annoyed because he thinks there are only picatinny rails on the gun. How do you think those attach to the rifle? Either he's wrong one way or he's wrong the other take your pick.
Are you high. On the side. Which is there.
erm, I think he means he wants standalone russian sidemounting optics, as opposed to a sight mounted on a rail mounted on the receiver rail mount.
What are you going to do with a standalone optic without a way to attach it to the gun? That bit of metal on the side of the receiver is the Russian optic mount.
